Abstract
In this paper, we have used a saturated five-membered N-Heterocyclic carbene (5SIDipp = 1,3-bis-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazolin-2-ylidine) for the synthesis of SNHC-haloboranes adducts and their further nucleophilic substitutions to put unusual functional groups at the central boron atom. The reaction of 5-SIDipp with RBCl2 yields Lewis-base adducts, 5-SIDipp·RBCl2 [R = H (1), Ph (2)]. The hydrolysis of 1 gives the NHC stabilized boric acid, 5-SIDipp·B(OH)3 (3), selectively. Replacement of chlorine atoms from 1 and 2 with one equivalent of AgOTf led to the formation of 5-SIDipp·HBCl(OTf) (4) and 5-SIDipp·PhBCl(OTf) (5a), where all the substituents on the boron atoms are different. The addition of two equivalents of AgNO3 to 2 leads to the formation of rare di-nitro substituted 5-SIDipp·BPh(NO3)2 (6). Further, the reaction of 5-SIDipp with B(C6F5)3 in tetrahydrofuran and diethyl ether shows a frustrated Lewis pair type small molecule activated products, 7 and 8.

Abstract
Isocyanides are highly valuable reagents in organic synthesis and have been widely used in multicomponent reactions. Although η2-imidoyl metal complexes, which are important intermediates in isocyanide chemistry, have been extensively explored, their boron species analogues have remained elusive. Hererin, we reported the synthesis of cyclic (boryl)iminomethanes via direct isocyanide insertion into the B-C bond of amino alkenyl boranes in a facile synthetic procedure. A family of well-defined cyclic (boryl)iminomethanes are characterized. Furthermore, the intrinsic ring strain of cyclic (boryl)iminomethanes primes them to further react with isocyanides and selectively afford double insertion products. Our results provide new insights into novel isocyanide chemistry involving boron species.

Abstract
Boranes are widely used Lewis acids and N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are popular Lewis bases, so it is remarkable how little was known about their derived complexes until recently. NHC-boranes are typically readily accessible and many are so stable that they can be treated like organic compounds rather than complexes. They do not exhibit "borane chemistry", but instead are proving to have a rich chemistry of their own as reactants, as reagents, as initiators, and as catalysts. They have significant potential for use in organic synthesis and in polymer chemistry. They can be used to easily make unusual complexes with a broad spectrum of functional groups not usually seen in organoboron chemistry. Many of their reactions occur through new classes of reactive intermediates including borenium cations, boryl radicals, and even boryl anions. This Review provides comprehensive coverage of the synthesis, characterization, and reactions of NHC-boranes.

Abstract
Poly-NHC (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene) ligands emerged almost immediately after the first stable NHCs had been described. Macrocyclic ligands, featuring NHC donor groups and their metal complexes, however, remained rare until recently. This perspective highlights modern developments in the fields of synthesis and coordination chemistry of macrocyclic poly-NHC ligands. These include the synthesis of tetracarbene ligands which were obtained from complexes of β-functionalized isocyanides followed by cyclization of the coordinated iscocyanide ligands to NH,NH-functionalized NHCs and the subsequent metal template controlled bridging alkylation of the NH,NH-NHCs to yield the macrocycle. The template synthesis of ligands featuring a mixed NHC/phosphine donor set like [11]ane-P(2)C(NHC) and [16]ane-P(2)C(NHC)(2) by linkage of NH,NH-NHCs to different phosphines is also presented. Finally, methods for the preparation of cyclic polyazolium salts, their deprotonation and metalation and the different modes of coordination of such macrocyclic poly-NHC ligands are discussed.

Abstract
Boryl halide, carboxylate and sulfonate complexes of 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene (dipp-Imd-BH(2)X, X = halide or sulfonate) have been prepared from the parent borane dipp-Imd-BH(3) by (1) substitution reactions with R-X (X = halide or sulfonate), (2) reactions with electrophiles (like I(2) or NIS), or (3) acid/base reactions with HX (provided that HX has a pK(a) of about 2 or less). Dipp-Imd-BH(2)I is most conveniently prepared by reaction with diiodine while dipp-Imd-BH(2)OTf is best prepared by reaction with triflic acid. These and other less reactive complexes behave as electrophiles and can be substituted by a wide range of heteroatom nucleophiles including halides, thiolates and other sulfur-based nucleophiles, isocyanate, azide, nitrite, and cyanide. The resulting products are remarkably stable, and many have been characterized by X-ray crystallography. Several are members of very rare classes of functionalized boron compounds (boron azide, nitro compound, nitrous ester, etc.).

Abstract
In situ formation of two cyclic (alkyl) (amino) carbenes (CAACs) followed by addition of BF3•Et2O provided the first two examples of CAAC–BF3 complexes: 1-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-3,5,5-trimethyl-3-phenylpyrrolidin-2-ylidene trifluoroborane, and 2-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-3,3-dimethyl-2-azaspiro[4.5]decan-1-ylidene trifluoroborane. These CAAC–BF3 complexes are robust compounds that are stable to ambient laboratory conditions and silica gel chromatography. They were characterized by spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. In contrast, a CAAC complex with borane (BH3) was readily formed in situ according to 1H and 11B NMR analysis, but did not survive the workup conditions. These results set the stage for further studies of the chemistry of CAAC boranes.

Abstract
The chemistry of heterocyclic carbenes has experienced a rapid development over the last years. In addition to the imidazolin-2-ylidenes, a large number of cyclic diaminocarbenes with different ring sizes have been described. Aside from diaminocarbenes, P-heterocyclic carbenes, and derivatives with only one, or even no heteroatom within the carbene ring are known. New methods for the synthesis of complexes with N-heterocyclic carbene ligands such as the oxidative addition or the metal atom template controlled cyclization of beta-functionalized isocyanides have been developed recently. This review summarizes the new developments regarding the synthesis of N-heterocyclic carbenes and their metal complexes.

Abstract
The reaction of 2-nitrophenyl isocyanide 2 with [M(CO)5(thf)] (M=Cr, Mo, W) yields the isocyanide complexes [M(CO)5(2)] (3: M=Cr; 4: M=Mo; 5: M=W). Complexes 3-5 react with elemental tin under reduction of the nitro function of the isocyanide ligand to give the complexes with the unstable 2-aminophenyl isocyanide ligand. The coordinated 2-aminophenyl isocyanide ligand in all three complexes reacts spontaneously under intramolecular nucleophilic attack of the primary amine at the isocyanide carbon atom to yield the complexes with the NH,NH-benzimidazol-2-ylidene ligand (6: M=Cr; 7: M=Mo; 8: M=W). An incomplete reduction of the nitro group in 3-5 is observed when hydrazine hydrate is used instead of tin. Here the formation of complexes with a coordinated 2-hydroxylamine-functionalized phenyl isocyanide [(CO)5M-CN-C6H(4-)-2-N(H)-OH] is postulated and this unstable ligand again undergoes intramolecular cyclization to give the NH,NOH-stabilized benzimidazol-2-ylidene complexes 9-11. The tungsten derivative 11 can be allylated stepwise by a deprotonation/alkylation sequence first at the OH and then at the NH position to yield the monoallylated and diallylated species 12 and 13. The molecular structures of 3-5 and 12-13 were established by X-ray crystallography.
