Abstract
This study examined the interactive effect of subjective age on the relationship between global cognition and susceptibility to scams. Sixty-five participants underwent an assessment of global cognition (Mini Mental State Examination; MMSE), reported their perceived age (i.e., subjective age), and responded to a self-report questionnaire assessing scam susceptibility. A main effect of global cognition on scam susceptibility was found (p = .028); there was no main effect of subjective age (p = .819). An interaction between global cognition and subjective age was found (p = .016). Examination of conditional effects demonstrated that the relationship between cognition and scam susceptibility was not significant amongst those with subjective ages below one standard deviation of the mean, but was significant for those whose subjective ages fell around or above the mean. Findings suggest that individuals with older subjective ages may be particularly vulnerable to the negative effects of lower cognition on scam susceptibility.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study examined the cognitive correlates of financial literacy using a comprehensive neuropsychological battery, and whether education modifies the relationship between cognition and financial literacy. METHODS Sixty-six participants completed sociodemographic questionnaires, an assessment of financial literacy, and a neuropsychological assessment. Multiple linear regression models that controlled for age, sex, and education examined the main effects of cognitive measures that showed a significant bivariate association with financial literacy. RESULTS After correcting for multiple comparisons, the Crystallized Composite score (p = .002) and the Picture Vocabulary test (p = .002) from the NIH Toolbox, and the Multilingual Naming Test (p > .001) from the Uniform Data Set 3 were associated with financial literacy. Contrary to our hypothesis, education did not interact with cognitive measures when considering financial literacy scores. CONCLUSIONS Findings suggest that vocabulary knowledge and semantic memory may play an important role in financial literacy in older age. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS Assessing vocabulary knowledge and semantic processes may help to identify older adults with lower financial literacy skills. Additionally, financial literacy interventions may consider targeting individuals with lower vocabulary knowledge and semantic processing skills.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to develop a short version of the Chinese Resident Health Literacy Scale focused on older adults in China, and further assess the reliability and validity of this short version. Methods The data was from a cross-sectional community-based older adults health survey conducted in 2020. The total of 5,829 older adults were randomly divided into two parts using for the simplification and assessment of the scale, respectively. Item Response Theory (IRT) and Differential Item Functioning (DIF) were used for item analysis and scale simplification. Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega were used to assess the reliability and three factors Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to assess the validity, which were compared to the original version. Moreover, Multi-group Confirmatory Factor Analysis (MCFA) was used to test the model invariance of the short version across groups of gender, age groups, level of education, and cognitive status. Results The simplified version consisted of 27 items taken from 50 original items, of them 11 items from the dimension of knowledge and attitudes, 9 items from the dimension of behavior and lifestyle, and 7 items from the dimension of health-related skills. The overall Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega were both 0.87 (95%CI: 0.86-0.88). The goodness-of-fits of CFA in simplified version were still acceptable in CFI, TLI, GFI, and RMSEA, even improved in CFI, TLI, and GFI compared to those of original version. Also, the model was stable and invariant in MCFA across gender, cognitive status, and educational level groups. Conclusion In this study, we formed a simplified instrument for measuring health literacy focused on older adults in China. This short version might be more suitable for the priority recommendation in extended tracking of the dynamic changes on the levels of health literacy in the whole life cycle in public health settings. Further research might be to identify the cut-off values to distinguish the older adults with different levels of health literacy.

Abstract
As global population ageing persists, understanding older adults' capacity to navigate the financial and healthcare system is essential. This scoping review examines how the concept of financial health literacy (FHL) is described and measured in the existing literature, the factors that may affect it, and its potential outcomes in middle-aged and older adults. The review follows the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) extension guidelines to synthesise the available evidence on this topic. We utilised electronic databases and hand searching to identify relevant literature published between 2010 and 2022. A total of 29 articles were included in this review. The results showed that FHL involved accessing, understanding and utilising financial information for planning/management of healthcare expenses and selecting appropriate health services. However, FHL is not particularly depicted as a concept in the current literature, as most studies investigated health literacy, financial literacy and health insurance literacy as separate domains that were interrelated to one another. No validated measurement tool was developed for FHL. We propose five domains to indicate the concept and measurement of FHL in middle-aged/older adults: money management, management of medical bills, understanding health insurance, deciding on appropriate health services, and planning for long-term care needs. Demographic variables, such as sex (females), advanced age, cognitive impairment, low education and income and racial and ethnic minorities, were found to be related to low FHL. The reviewed studies also showed that FHL was related to several outcomes, including healthcare decision-making, physical health and psychological well-being. Hence, future studies to develop and validate assessment tools of FHL, together with the involvement of vulnerable groups, are imperative to understanding the concept of FHL. This could also facilitate the development of appropriate interventions that could enhance this capacity in the ageing population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Systemic inflammation is considered an important issue in older adults and is associated with adverse health outcomes, such as frailty and cognitive impairment. Diet is a critical associated factor, and the dietary inflammatory index (DII®) is proposed as a promising tool to identify the association between diet and health outcomes. Our aims were: (i) to investigate the association between the DII® and frailty, cognition, and the consequent risk of disability in older adults; (ii) to discuss particularities of the use of DII® with older adults. METHODS The research question was based on the PICOS strategy: Population = older adults; Intervention or Exposure = DII; Comparison = any comparator; Outcomes = frailty, cognition, and risk of disability; Type of study = cohort, cross-sectional or case-control studies. We searched publications in two electronic databases (PUBMED and Web of Science) up to May 20th, 2020. RESULTS Seven studies met our criteria. Three investigated cognition (one cohort and two cross-sectional), and four investigated frailty or risk of disability (one cohort and three cross-sectional); none of the studies investigated both outcomes (frailty and cognition) simultaneously. The studies presented some issues, mainly concerning: (i) the collection of dietary data and calculation of the DII; (ii) the study design; (iii) calculation of the sample size; (iv) eligibility criteria; (v) time for follow-up; (vi) and choice of covariates. CONCLUSION despite the issues, the use of DII resulted in a significant association, or predictive value, with variables related to frailty and cognitive decline. Further studies, with sensitivity analysis of the different components of this index, are needed. DII showed to be a promising tool in the investigation of geriatric syndromes. This systematic review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42020155672).
