Abstract
An efficient cross-coupling of aryl bromides with sodium sulfinates, using an organoboron photocatalyst with nickel, is described herein. Under the irradiation of white light, this dually catalytic system enables the synthesis of a series of sulfone compounds in moderate to good yields. A broad range of functional groups and heteroaromatic compounds is tolerated under these reaction conditions. The use of an organoboron photocatalyst highlights a sustainable alternative to iridium or ruthenium complexes. These findings contribute to the field of photochemistry and provide a greener approach to sulfone synthesis.

Abstract
Diverse, visible-light-induced transformations of methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) have been reported in recent years, attracting significant attention from synthetic chemists. As readily accessible strained molecules, MCPs have sufficient reactivity to selectively generate different target products, through reactions with various radical species upon visible-light irradiation under regulated reaction conditions. These transformations can be classified into three subcategories of reaction pathway, forming ring-opened products, cyclopropane derivatives, and alkynes. These products include pharmaceutical intermediates and polycyclic/heterocyclic compounds that are challenging to obtain using traditional methods. This review summarizes the recent advancements in this field.

Abstract
Sulfonyl radical mediated processes have been considered as a powerful strategy for the construction of sulfonyl compounds. However, an efficient and high atom-economical radical approach to the synthesis of sulfonate esters is still rare, owing to the limited tactics to achieve alkoxysulfonyl radicals. Herein, an electrochemical anodic oxidation of inorganic sulfites with alcohols is developed to afford alkoxysulfonyl radical species, which are utilized in subsequent alkene difunctionalization to provide various sulfonate esters. This transformation features excellent chemoselectivity and broad functional group tolerance. This new discovery presents the potential prospect for the construction of sulfonate esters, and enriches the electrochemical reaction type.

Abstract
Sulfur-containing compounds have attracted considerable interest due to their wide-ranging applications in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, natural products, and organic materials. The development of efficient and rapid methods for the construction and transformation of sulfur-containing compounds is of great importance. Since nickel is inexpensive and has a variety of valence states, strong nucleophilicity and low energy barriers for oxidative addition, the construction and transformation of sulfur-containing compounds by nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling have become important strategies. In addition, sulfur-containing compounds have also been playing increasingly important roles in the field of cross-coupling due to their thermodynamically stable but dynamic activity. This review will focus on nickel-catalyzed construction and transformation of various sulfide-containing compounds, such as sulfides, disulfides, and hypervalent sulfur-containing compounds.

Abstract
The generation of heteroaryl-substituted sulfonyl compounds via a catalyst-, base-, and additive-free three-component reaction of heteroaryl-substituted tertiary alcohols, aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates, and DABCO·(SO2)2 under mild conditions is developed. Various functional groups are tolerated well in this transformation, and a broad substrate scope is demonstrated. A preliminary mechanistic investigation shows that this reaction undergoes a radical process, including the insertion of sulfur dioxide, sulfonyl radical addition to unactivated alkene, and remote heteroaryl ipso-migration.

Abstract
New generations of hyperbranched aramids were synthesized from diarylamine and methyl acrylate using an AB2 monomer approach in a straightforward one-pot preparation. The chemical structure of hyperbranched Phenylenediamine/Methyl Acrylate HB(PDMA was confirmed by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1HNMR) spectroscopy. In addition, the particle’s size and distribution were recorded using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS). Moreover, the synthesized HB(PDMA)s displayed broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as yeast strains and anti-biofilm activity where the highest activity was attributed to HB(PDMA)G4 at the lowest Minimum Inhibitory, Minimum Bactericidal, and Fungicidal Concentrations (MIC, MBC, and MFC, respectively). Furthermore, the HB(PDMA)s expressed anti-bacterial activity against isolated Pseudomonas sp. (R301) at a salinity of 35,000 ppm (NaCl). In addition, they revealed different corrosion inhibition efficiencies at the cultivated medium salinity at the estimated minimum bactericidal concentrations. The highest metal corrosion inhibition efficiencies were 59.5 and 94.3% for HB(PDMA)G4 at the Minimum Bactericidal Concentrations (MBCs) and two times Minimum Bactericidal Concentrations (2XMBCs), respectively, in comparison to both negative and positive controls.

This transformation proceeds smoothly via heteroaryl sulfinate intermediates, which can be trapped in situ by various electrophiles. A broad reaction scope is demonstrated, especially for the electron-deficient heteroaryl halides. Mechanistic studies show that the radical coupling of the heteroaryl radical and sulfur dioxide radical anion may be the key step during the reaction process, as supported by EPR spectroscopy and DFT calculations.

Abstract
Aromatic polymers such as poly(ether sulfone), poly(ether ketone), and polyimide have been widely used in industry due to their thermal, mechanical, and chemical stabilities. Although their application to catalysis has been limited, the introduction of a hyperbranched architecture to such aromatic polymers is effective in developing catalytic materials that combine the advantages of homogenous and heterogeneous catalysts. This review article overviews the recent progress on the design and synthesis of hyperbranched aromatic polymers. Several acid catalyzed reactions and the aerobic oxidation of alcohols have been demonstrated using hyperbranched aromatic polymers as catalysts. The advantage of hyperbranched polymers against linear polymers is also discussed.

Preparation, Characterization and Application of UV-Curable Flexible Hyperbranched Polyurethane Acrylate. Polymers (Basel) 2017; 9:polym9110552. Abstract
A novel UV-curable hyperbranched polyurethane acrylate (FHBPUA) with excellent flexibility is successfully synthesized based on a reaction of hydroxyl terminated hyperbranched polyurethane (regarded as core) with flexible semiadduct urethane monoacrylate (regarded as arms). The structure and property of FHBPUA is firstly analyzed and then utilized as functional additives to ameliorate the UV-curing and mechanical properties of epoxy acrylate resin. The degree of branching of FHBPUA turns out to be 0.82. Its thermal decomposition process consists of three different stages, and the glass transition temperature is around 65 °C. The freestanding FHBPUA film (~30 μm thickness) can be UV-cured within 3 s, and its flexibility is up to 1 mm. With the increase of FHBPUA content to 10 wt %, the UV-curing time of UV1000 film decreases from 6 to 3 s, flexibility strikingly increases from 10 to 1 mm, and adhesive force also improves from 5 to 3 grades, meanwhile its glossiness is not influenced by FHBPUA. In addition, a certain amount of FHBPUA can improve the tensile strength and elongation at break of UV1000 film. This novel FHBPUA can be used not only to develop flexible UV-curable freestanding films but also as functional additives to perfect other UV-curable compositions like coatings, inks and 3D printed parts.

Abstract
Sulfinic acids are commonly encountered intermediates found in natural product synthesis and medicinal chemistry. However, because of high reactivity, instability, and harsh reaction conditions, they are difficult to synthesize. Herein we have developed an oxidation-free method to produce sulfinic acids and sulfinate salts using 2-sulfinyl benzothiazole (BTS). We have also demonstrated the synthetic usefulness by developing one-pot syntheses of sulfones and sulfonamides.

Abstract
In the present study, response surface methodology is used to synthesize hyperbranched polyesters based on variables reaction time, ratio of monomer to core, and type of catalyst. Then, the synthesized polyesters were used for preparing hyperbranched urethane acrylates in two steps. In order to characterize these polymers, infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance is used. Hyperbranched urethane acrylates were formulated and cured by ultraviolet irradiation. Finally, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) test is used to investigate the viscoelastic properties of the coatings. The results of DMTA test were shown that the higher molar mass distribution of hyperbranched polyester is associated with less uniformity of cross-link network of cured samples. Also by increasing the molar mass of hyperbranched polyester, glass transition temperature of cured urethane acrylate resins was increased. The samples produced by using methane sulfonic acid catalyst show higher strength and more uniform cross-link network than the those made by sulfuric acid catalyst.

Abstract
Poly(ether ether ketone) dendrimers and hyperbranched polymers were prepared from 3,5-dimethoxy-4′-(4-fluorobenzoyl)diphenyl ether and 3,5-dihydroxy-4′-(4-fluorobenzoyl)diphenyl ether through aromatic nucleophilic substitution reactions. 1-(tert-Butyldimethylsiloxy)-3,5-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene was polycondensed with bisphenols, followed by cleavage of the protective group to form linear poly(ether ketone)s having the same hydroxyl groups in the side chains as the chain ends of the dendrimer and hyperbranched polymers. Their properties, such as solubilities, reduced viscosities, and thermal properties, were compared with one another. Similar comparisons were also carried out among the corresponding methoxy group polymers, and the size of the molecules was shown to affect the properties.

Abstract
Protogenic phytic acid is immobilized by its gelation with iron nitrate in DMF. The resulting pelletized xerogel is observed to show a high proton conductivity of 2.4 × 10–2 S cm–1 at 120 °C and is tried as solid electrolyte for dry H2/O2 fuel cell operation.
A proton conducting metallogel [FNPA; ferric nitrate (FN)–phytic acid (PA)] is synthesized by immobilizing a protogenic ligand (phytic acid) using iron(iii) nitrate in DMF. The xerogel shows high proton conductivity of 2.4 × 10–2 S cm–1 at 120 °C, the best value known among all metal organic materials (MOMs). Marking the first such attempt in MOMs, an electrode made using the xerogel showed a power density of 0.94 mW cm–2 at 0.6 V under dry fuel cell conditions.
