Abstract
BACKGROUND Rosacea is a skin disease characterized by facial erythema and inflammatory pustules that may result in emotional distress. Social Phobia and Self-Esteem appear to be linked to the development of higher levels of distress in dermatological conditions, while Trait Emotional Intelligence (Trait EI) has been consistently associated with greater levels of adaptation to one's chronic condition. Hence, it seems extremely relevant to observe the interplay between these dimensions in the context of Rosacea. The goal of the current study is to test the hypothesis that an association between Trait EI and General Distress, in individuals with Rosacea would be mediated by Self-Esteem and Social Phobia. METHODS Questionnaires were administered to 224 individuals suffering from Rosacea to assess Trait EI, Social Phobia, Self-Esteem, and General Distress. RESULTS Results highlighted that Trait EI was positively related to Self-Esteem and negatively related to Social Phobia and General Distress. In addition, both Self-Esteem and Social Phobia showed a mediating role in the relationship between Trait EI and General Distress. LIMITATIONS The main limitations of this work consist in the cross-sectional nature of the data, the small number of participants, also it was not possible to differentiate the participants according to the type of rosacea. DISCUSSION These results emphasize how individuals with Rosacea may be vulnerable to internalizing states and how high levels of Trait EI may constitute a protective factor for the onset of distressing states and it would be useful to create programs aimed at fostering Trait EI in Rosacea sufferers.

Abstract
The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Task Forces (TFs) on Quality of Life (QoL) and Patient-Oriented Outcomes and Acne, Rosacea and Hidradenitis Suppurativa (ARHS) do not recommend the use of any generic instrument as a single method of Health Related (HR) QoL assessment in rosacea, except when comparing quimp (quality of life impairment) in rosacea patients with that in other non-dermatologic skin diseases and/or healthy controls. The EADV TFs on QoL and Patient-Oriented Outcomes and ARHS recommend the use of the dermatology-specific HRQoL instrument the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and the rosacea-specific HRQoL instrument RosaQoL in rosacea patients. The DLQI minimal clinically important difference may be used as a marker of clinical efficacy of the treatment and DLQI score banding of 0 or 1 corresponding to no effect on patients' HRQoL could be an important treatment goal. This information may be added to consensuses and guidelines for rosacea.

Abstract
Importance Four distinct rosacea subtypes have traditionally been recognized, but the frequency of these subtypes among patients with rosacea remains unknown. Objective To assess the frequency of 4 rosacea subtypes. Data Sources This systemic review and meta-analysis included a search of 2 databases, PubMed and Embase, from inception of the databases to November 2, 2021. The search was filtered to include only studies of human participants published in English, French, and German. Study Selection Studies were screened independently by 2 of the authors and were included if they were original with a sample size of 25 or more patients and reported absolute numbers or frequency of patients affected by rosacea subtypes. Studies that did not report sufficient data to calculate the proportions of subtypes were excluded. Data Extraction and Synthesis Data extraction was performed independently and in duplicate by 2 of the authors, using the search term rosacea, according to the Preferred Reporting items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The search term, objectives, and study protocol methods were defined before the study was initiated. A total of 292 studies were included for full-text assessment. Owing to the heterogeneity of the included studies, a random-effects model was used. Main Outcome and Measures The main outcome was the proportion of patients with rosacea in each of the 4 major subtype groups defined by the 2002 National Rosacea Society classification system. Measures were absolute numbers or frequency of patients affected by each of the 4 rosacea subtypes. Results A total of 39 studies examining 9190 patients with rosacea were included. The pooled proportion of erythematotelangiectatic rosacea was 56.7% (95% CI, 51.4%-62.0%), of papulopustular rosacea was 43.2% (95% CI, 38.8%-47.6%), of phymatous rosacea was 7.4% (95% CI, 6.1%-8.9%), and of ocular rosacea was 11.1% (95% CI, 6.7%-16.3%). Subtype distribution occurred equally among men and women except for phymatous rosacea, which was more prevalent in men. Studies from Africa showed the lowest proportion of erythematotelangiectatic rosacea. Differences in frequency of subtypes were observed when stratification by publication year was performed. Conclusion and Relevance In this systematic review and meta-analysis, differences were found in rosacea subtypes by patient sex and by continent of origin and publication year of included studies. Erythematotelangiectatic and papulopustular rosacea were the most prevalent subtypes, but data should be interpreted with caution. Future studies should use the phenotype-based rosacea approach.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects people's life quality. It has been found to be related to many detrimental factors including ultraviolet exposure. However, the association between alcohol consumption and rosacea has long been debated. AIMS To elucidate this association, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS We performed a systematic search of the literature published before February 16, 2021 on PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane database and used a meta-analytic approach to calculate the pooled odds ratios (ORs) and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). RESULTS Finally, 14 eligible studies were identified, and alcohol consumption was not found to be a risk factor for rosacea. However, in subgroup analysis, alcohol consumption increased the risk of phymatous rosacea (PhR) and the pooled OR was 4.17 (95% CI = 1.76-9.91). CONCLUSION Overall, our study showed that alcohol consumption was a risk factor in phymatous rosacea (PhR). More studies of rosacea investigating sex distribution, alcohol intake levels, and types of alcoholic beverages consumed are needed in the future.

Abstract
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disease of the centrofacial region. However, the association between rosacea and smoking remains controversial. To evaluate the association between rosacea and smoking, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis. A comprehensive systematic search of literature published before October 15, 2020 on online databases (including Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase) was performed. The pooled odds ratios (ORs) were calculated. 12 articles were included, covering 80 156 controls and 54 132 patients with rosacea. Tobacco consumption was not found to increase the risk of rosacea. However, using subtype analysis (involving 5 articles), we found there was a decreased risk of rosacea in current smokers but an increased risk in ex-smokers. In addition, smoking appears to increase the risk of papulopustular rosacea and phymatous rosacea. Analysis of all included studies also showed that ex-smoking was associated with an increased risk, while current smoking was associated with a reduced risk of rosacea. In order to prevent many diseases, including rosacea, the public should be encouraged to avoid smoking.
