Abstract
In childhood and adolescence, overt antisocial and aggressive manifestations are typically diagnosed as conduct disorder (CD). Given that the emerging research has pointed to the influence of 5-HT2A receptors in the ontogeny of aggression, we aimed to analyze the association of its genetic polymorphisms with CD. The study included 228 male adolescent subjects (120 with and 108 without CD). CD was diagnosed according to Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV criteria, while evaluations of aggressive/dissociative behaviors were performed using psychometric questionnaires including the PCL-YV, OAS-M, KADS, and CBCL. Platelet 5-HT concentration was determined by spectrophotofluorometry. Genotyping of 5-HT2A receptor polymorphisms rs2070040, rs9534511, rs4142900, rs9534512 was performed using TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays. Subjective irritability, physical aggression toward others, and antisocial behavior were strongly associated with the G allele of rs2070040 and rs4142900, and the C allele of rs9534511 and rs9534512. A significantly increased platelet 5-HT concentration in CD subjects, compared to controls, was lost after the correction according to the smoking status. Our results indicate an association of the studied HTR2A polymorphisms and their haplotypes with irritability and impulsivity traits, which may contribute to the aggressive and antisocial behavior in male adolescents with CD.

Abstract
Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most abundant type of genomic variation and the most accessible to genotype in large cohorts. However, they individually explain a small proportion of phenotypic differences between individuals. Ancestry, collective SNP effects, structural variants, somatic mutations or even differences in historic recombination can potentially explain a high percentage of genomic divergence. These genetic differences can be infrequent or laborious to characterize; however, many of them leave distinctive marks on the SNPs across the genome allowing their study in large population samples. Consequently, several methods have been developed over the last decade to detect and analyze different genomic structures using SNP arrays, to complement genome-wide association studies and determine the contribution of these structures to explain the phenotypic differences between individuals. We present an up-to-date collection of available bioinformatics tools that can be used to extract relevant genomic information from SNP array data including population structure and ancestry; polygenic risk scores; identity-by-descent fragments; linkage disequilibrium; heritability and structural variants such as inversions, copy number variants, genetic mosaicisms and recombination histories. From a systematic review of recently published applications of the methods, we describe the main characteristics of R packages, command-line tools and desktop applications, both free and commercial, to help make the most of a large amount of publicly available SNP data.

Abstract
Serotonin transporter gene-linked polymorphic region polymorphisms are associated with anxiety, neuroticism, affective disorders and vulnerability to stressful life events; however, the relevant physiological mechanisms are not well understood. Serotonin transporter knockout mice have been widely used as a model of allelic variation of serotonin transporter function in humans; herein, wild-type mice and heterozygous and homozygous knockout mice models were established to explore the behavioural changes related to different genotypes and the possible physiological mechanisms. Behavioural changes were assessed using behavioural tests, namely, elevated plus maze, open field, Morris water maze and rotarod tests. Serum indicators were detected using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Compared with wild-type mice, homozygous mice showed significant anxiety-like behaviours in the plus maze and open field tests; conversely, anxiety-like behaviours in heterozygous mice were less pronounced. Homozygous mice also showed cognitive impairment and motor inhibition in the Morris water maze and rotarod tests. Serotonin levels decreased in both heterozygous and homozygous mice, and 5-hydroxytryptophan, protein kinase A, adenylyl cyclase, cyclic adenosine monophosphate response element-binding protein and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels were lower in homozygous mice than in wild-type and heterozygous mice, whereas no statistical differences were found between wild-type and heterozygous mice. Additionally, there was a correlation between serological and behavioural indicators. This study provided experimental evidence that the cyclic adenosine monophosphate-protein kinase A-cyclic adenosine monophosphate response element-binding protein-brain-derived neurotrophic factor pathway may be involved in the regulation of polymorphism to stress and enriched the behavioural and physiological characteristics of serotonin transporter knockout mice.

Abstract
Alcohol has been associated with violent crimes and domestic violence across many nations. Various etiological factors were linked to chronic alcohol use and violence including psychiatric comorbidities of perpetrators such as personality disorders, mood disorders, and intermittent explosive disorders. Aggression is the precursor of violence and individuals prone to aggressive behaviors are more likely to commit impulsive violent crimes, especially under the influence of alcohol. Findings from brain studies indicate long-term alcohol consumption induced morphological changes in brain regions involved in self-control, decision-making, and emotional processing. In line with this, the inherent dopaminergic and serotonergic anomalies seen in aggressive individuals increase their susceptibility to commit violent crimes when alcohol present in their system. In relation to this, this article intends to investigate the influence of alcohol on aggression with sociopsychological and neuroscientific perspectives by looking into comorbidity of personality or mood disorders, state of the mind during alcohol consumption, types of beverages, environmental trigger, neurochemical changes, and gender differences that influence individual responses to alcohol intake and susceptibility to intoxicated aggression.
