Abstract
One of the most effective ways to detect and measure antibiotics is to detect their biomarkers. The best biomarker for the control and detection of oxytetracycline (OTC) is the OTC-specific aptamer. In this study, a novel, rapid, and label-free aptamer-based electrochemical biosensor (electrochemical aptasensor) was designed for OTC determination based on a newly synthesized nanocomposite including multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), reduced graphene oxide (rGO), and chitosan (CS), as well as nanosheets to modify a glassy carbon electrode, which extremely enhanced electrical conductivity and increased the electrode surface to bind well with the amine-terminated OTC-specific aptamer through self-assembly. The (MWCNTs-AuNPs/CS-AuNPs/rGO-AuNPs) nanocomposite modified electrode was synthesized using a layer- by-layer modification method which had the highest efficiency for better aptamer stabilization. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques were used to investigate and evaluate the electrochemical properties and importance of the synthesized nanocomposite in different steps. The designed aptasensor was very sensitive for measuring the OTC content of milk samples, and the results were compared with those of our previously published paper. Based on the calibration curve, the detection limit was 30.0 pM, and the linear range was 1.00-540 nM for OTC. The repeatability and reproducibility of the aptasensor were obtained for 10.0 nM of OTC with a relative standard deviation (RSD%) of 2.39% and 4.01%, respectively, which were not affected by the coexistence of similar derivatives. The measurement in real samples with the recovery range of 93.5% to 98.76% shows that this aptasensor with a low detection limit and wide linear range can be a good tool for detecting OTC.

Abstract
Recently, a plethora of ecofriendly methods have been developed for the synthesis of AuNPs using a multitude of biogenic agents. Polyphenols from plants are particularly attractive for producing AuNPs because in addition to helping with the synthesis of AuNPs, the polyphenol capping of the NPs can be used as a platform for versatile applications. Polyphenol-capped AuNPs could also make the detection of AuNPs possible, should they be released into the environment. Because polyphenols are redox-active, they can be used as a probe to detect AuNPs using electrochemical techniques. In this work, we have developed an MWCNT-rGO nanocomposite electrode for the sensitive detection of AuNPs capped with gallic acid (GA, a green-tea-derived polyphenol) using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The reduction of gallic acid-capped AuNPs was used as the quantification signal, and the calibration curve displayed a detection limit of 2.57 pM. Using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), we have shown that the modification of the electrode surface with an MWCNT-rGO hybrid nanocomposite resulted in a 10-fold increase in current response leading to the sensitive detection of GA-AuNPs compared to unmodified electrodes. We have also demonstrated the applicability of the electrochemical sensor in detecting GA-AuNPs in various analytical matrixes such as human serum and natural creek water (Highland Creek, ON) with good recovery.

Abstract
In view of the toxic potential of a bioweapon threat, rapid visual recognition and sensing of ricin has been of considerable interest while remaining a challenging task up to date. In this study, a gold nanopin-based colorimetric sensor is developed realizing a multicolor variation for ricin qualitative recognition and analysis. It is revealed that such plasmonic metasurfaces based on nanopin-cavity resonator exhibit reflective color appearance, due to the excitation of standing-wave resonances of narrow bandwidth in visible region. This clear color variation is a consequence of the reflective color mixing defined by different resonant wavelengths. In addition, the colored metasurfaces appear sharp color difference in a narrow refractive index range, which makes them especially well-suited for sensing applications. Therefore, this antibody-functionalized nanopin-cavity biosensor features high sensitivity and fast response, allowing for visual quantitative ricin detection within the range of 10-120 ng mL-1 (0.15 × 10-9 -1.8 × 10-9 m), a limit of detection of 10 ng mL-1 , and the typical measurement time of less than 10 min. The on-chip integration of such nanopin metasurfaces to portable colorimetric microfluidic device may be envisaged for the quantitative studies of a variety of biochemical molecules.

Abstract
Two-dimensional ordered mesoporous carbon nitride (OMCN) has been successfully prepared for the first time using SBA-15 mesoporous silica and melamine as template and precursor respectively, by a nano hard-templating approach. A series of OMCN-x samples with different pyrolysis temperatures have been reported. The formation of these composite materials was verified by detailed characterization (e.g., Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy). The results showed that the materials were structurally well ordered with two-dimensional porous structure, high surface area and large pore volume. The influence of BET surface area and different amounts of N-bonding configurations formed at different pyrolysis temperatures of OMCN-x for the electrocatalysis towards hydrogen peroxide, nitrobenzene, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide were investigated in detail. Results indicated that OMCN treated at 800°C with largest BET surface area and highest amounts of pyrindinic N showed improved electrocatalytic activity for H2O2, nitrobenzene, and NADH in neutral solution.
