Abstract
The title epoxide was obtained by spontaneous epoxidation of the corresponding unsaturated imide in air or by peracid oxidation. Unambiguous assignment of the 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra is achieved by comparison between analogous compounds and its X-ray structure confirms the exo,exo-configuration.

Abstract
Nature has engineered delicate synergistic covalent and supramolecular polymers (CSPs) to achieve advanced life functions, such as the thin filaments that assist in muscle contraction. Constructing artificial synergistic CSP materials with bioinspired mechanically adaptive features, however, represents a challenging goal. Here, we report an artificial CSP system to illustrate the integration of a covalent polymer (CP) and a supramolecular polymer (SP) in a synergistic fashion, along with the emergence of notable mechanical and dynamic properties which are unattainable when the two polymers are formed individually. The synergistic effect relies on the peculiar network structures of the SP and CPs, which endow the resultant CSPs with overall improved mechanical performance in terms of the stiffness, strength, stretchability, toughness, and elastic recovery. Moreover, the dynamic properties of the SP, including self-healing, stimuli-responsiveness, and reprocessing, are also retained in the CSPs, thus leading to their application as programmable and tunable materials.

Abstract
Robust, non-delaminating polymer coatings and hydrogels are needed for technical and biomedical applications. This study focusses on surface-attached poly(oxanorbornene) hydrogels obtained by simultaneous UV-activated crosslinking and surface-immobilization. The synthesis and copolymerization of two oxanorbornene monomers carrying the UV-crosslinkers malonic acid diazoester or benzophenone, which can both undergo UV-triggered C,H-insertion crosslinking (CHic), is presented. The crosslinking efficiency and network stability of hydrogels made from these self-crosslinkable polymers are studied and compared to the properties of poly(oxanorbornene) networks obtained by UV-triggered thiol-ene-reactions involving a low molecular weight crosslinker. Smooth, defect-free, non-delaminating hydrogel coatings were obtained by CHic, not only on laboratory model surfaces but also on a technical product.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a series of green, blue and red-fluorescent exo-oxanorbornene acid and imide monomers carrying nitrobenzofurazan, coumarin, and Rhodamin B, respectively, as fluorophores is presented. These monomers carry oxanorbornene as polymerizable unit, and were readily copolymerized with bioactive functional oxanorbornene monomers by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), as demonstrated by gel permeation chromatography and NMR spectroscopy. Due to the ease of synthesis of these monomers, and their cost-effectiveness compared many to other fluorescent probes, they are useful for biomaterials applications.

Abstract
The facile and efficient functionalization of thermoresponsive polymers based on sequential, reversible thiol-exchange reactions is reported. Well-defined dithiomaleimide-containing polymers have been synthesized via Cu(0)-mediated SET-LRP and characterized by 1H NMR and size exclusion chromatography (SEC). The resulting thermosensitive copolymers were subsequently reacted with various thiols to demonstrate the applicability of the strategy, and the thiol-exchange reaction was found to be very fast and efficient. The cloud point of the prepared copolymers can be continually and reversibly tuned, and desirable functionality can be dynamically exchanged upon sequential addition of functional thiol reagents. Through the substitution by thioglucose, an ON-to-OFF switch for fluorescence of the copolymers along with the generation of a glycopolymer was achieved.
