Abstract
The liquid-liquid interface of two immiscible solvents remarkably controls the morphology of polymeric nanostructures as compared to the polymerization in single solvent systems. The polymerization of pyrrole in the water-chloroform medium using silver nitrate (AgNO3) as oxidant yields polypyrrole/silver (PPy/Ag) sheets. The water-chloroform interface acts as a template for the growth of PPy/Ag hybrids into sheets by preventing the secondary growth of silver associated pyrrole oligomers in a three-dimensional (3-D) manner. On the contrary, the 3-D growth of pyrrole oligomers into spherical shapes at the water-chloroform interface is observed when ammonium persulfate (APS) is used as the oxidant. Transmission electron microscopic and scanning electron microscopic images reveal the sheetlike morphology of PPy/Ag with a relatively uniform distribution of Ag NPs (∼100 nm) on PPy sheets. The ratio of aqueous-organic bisolvent and the concentration/type of oxidant have a distinct effect on morphology, crystallinity, and electrical properties of PPy/Ag sheets. The dispersed PPy/Ag sheets are stable in moderately polar solvents up to 2 weeks. The electrochemical behavior of PPy/Ag sheets is confirmed by H2O2 sensing capability through cyclic voltammetry experiments. The antibacterial activity toward E. coli and S. aureus is quantitatively assessed using the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) determination.

Abstract
A silver/polypyrrole/copper oxide (Ag/PPy/Cu2O) ternary nanocomposite was prepared by sonochemical and oxidative polymerization simple way, in which Cu2O was decorated with Ag nanoparticles, and covered by polyprrole (PPy) layer. The as prepared materials was characterized by UV-vis-spectroscopy (UV-vis), FT-IR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with EDX, high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Sensing of serotonin (5HT) was evaluated electrocatalyst using polypyrrole/glassy carbon electrode (PPy/GCE), polypyrrole/copper oxide/glassy carbon electrode (PPy/Cu2O/GCE) and silver/polypyrrole/copper oxide/glassy carbon electrode (Ag/PPy/Cu2O/GCE). The Ag/PPy/Cu2O/GCE was electrochemically treated in 0.1MPBS solution through cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The peak current response increases linearly with 5-HT concentration from 0.01 to 250 µmol L-1 and the detection limit was found to be 0.0124 μmol L-1. It exhibits high electrocatalytic activity, satisfactory repeatability, stability, fast response and good selectivity against potentially interfering species, which suggests its potential in the development of sensitive, selective, easy-operation and low-cost serotonin sensor for practical routine analyses. The proposed method is potential to expand the possible applied range of the nanocomposite material for detection of various concerned electro active substances.

Abstract
Carbonaceous nanotubes with a calculated specific heat of 710[Formula: see text]J K[Formula: see text] Kg[Formula: see text], and an outer diameter of 58[Formula: see text]nm, made by a micro-thermal reaction, using polypyrrole nanotubes precursor is presented here. Three degradation stages from the thermal curves are identified. We observe a decomposition temperature at 371[Formula: see text]C that relates to the presence of amorphous carbon on samples for the first time in this material. Also, it is identified that gradual decomposition of the fragments provides a different kind of residue percentage in the range 48–32% that is related to stirring speed used in each synthesis. It is worthy to note that electron transmission microscope images of carbonaceous nanotubes present defects as well, wherein we identify chloride and nitrogen as doped agents. Finally, results of nanotubes using Infrared, Raman spectrometry analysis, scanning electron microscopy and electron diffraction are presented here.

Abstract
Polypyrrole (PPy) in globular form and as nanotubes were prepared by the oxidation of pyrrole with iron(III) chloride in the absence and presence of methyl orange, respectively. They were subsequently converted to nitrogen-containing carbons at 650 °C in an inert atmosphere. The course of carbonization was followed by thermogravimetric analysis and the accompanying changes in molecular structure by Fourier Transform Infrared and Raman spectroscopies. Both the original and carbonized materials have been tested in sensing of polar and non-polar organic vapors. The resistivity of sensing element using globular PPy was too high and only nanotubular PPy could be used. The sensitivity of the PPy nanotubes to ethanol vapors was nearly on the same level as that of their carbonized analogs (i.e., ~18% and 24%, respectively). Surprisingly, there was a high sensitivity of PPy nanotubes to the n-heptane vapors (~110%), while that of their carbonized analog remained at ~20%. The recovery process was significantly faster for carbonized PPy nanotubes (in order of seconds) compared with 10 s of seconds for original nanotubes, respectively, due to higher specific surface area after carbonization.

Abstract
This study reports a novel one-step synthesis of hybrid iron oxide/polypyrrole multifunctional nanoparticles encapsulating hydrophobic drug and decorated with polyethylene glycol. The overall process is based on the in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole along with the reduction of ferric chloride (FeCl3) in the presence of ketoprofen as model drug and PEGylated surfactants. The final product is a nanocomposite composed of polypyrrole and a mixture of FeO/Fe2O3. Different concentrations of ketoprofen were encapsulated in the nanocomposite, and were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Encapsulation efficiency of the final product was measured by absorption, which can reach up to 98%. The release experiments confirmed complete drug release after about 3h in PBS solution. Morphological characterization of the nanocomposites was performed by electron microscopy (scanning and transmission electron microscopy) which confirmed the spherical geometry and opaque nature of nanoparticles with average particle size well below 50 nm. The final product is multifunctional system, which could act both as a nanocarrier for drug molecules as well as a contrasting agent. Magnetic relaxometry studies confirmed their possible applications as potential contrast agent in the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
