Abstract
The selective carbon capture and utilization (CCU) as a one-carbon (C1) feedstock offers dual advantages for mitigating the rising atmospheric CO2 content and producing fine chemicals/fuels. In this context, herein, we report the application of a porous bipyridine-functionalized, pyrene-based covalent organic framework (Pybpy-COF) for the stable anchoring of catalytic Ag(0) nanoparticles (NPs) and its catalytic investigation for fixation of CO2 to commodity chemicals at ambient conditions. Notably, Ag@Pybpy-COF showed excellent catalytic activity for the carboxylation of various terminal alkynes to corresponding alkynyl carboxylic acids/phenylpropiolic acids via C-H bond activation under atmospheric pressure conditions. Besides, carboxylative cyclization of various propargylic amines with CO2 to generate 2-oxazolidinones, an important class of antibiotics, has also been achieved under mild conditions. This significant catalytic activity of Ag@Pybpy-COF with wide functional group tolerance is rendered by the presence of highly exposed, alkynophilic Ag(0) catalytic sites decorated on the pore walls of high surface area (787 m2 g-1) Pybpy-COF. Further, density functional theory calculations unveiled the detailed mechanistic path of the Ag@Pybpy-COF-catalyzed transformation of CO2 to alkynyl carboxylic acids and 2-oxazolidinones. Moreover, the catalyst showed high recyclability for several cycles of reuse without significant loss in its catalytic activity and structural rigidity. This work demonstrates the promising application of Pybpy-COF for stable anchoring of Ag NPs for successful transformation of CO2 to valuable commodity chemicals at ambient conditions.

Abstract
An efficient heterogeneous silver-catalyzed α-alkylation of nitriles and oxindoles using alcohols via borrowing hydrogen strategy has been developed for the first time. The active nanostructured material, namely [Ag/Mg4 Al-LDH], composed by silver nanoparticles (3-4 nm average particle size) homogeneously stabilized onto a [Mg4 Al-LDH] support with suitable Brønsted basic properties, constitutes a stable catalyst for the sustainable building of novel C-C bonds from alcohols and C-nucleophiles. By applying this catalyst, a broad range of α-functionalized nitriles and oxindoles has been accessed with good to excellent isolated yields and without the addition of external bases. Moreover, the novel silver nanocatalyst has also demonstrated its successful application to the cyclization of N-[2-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl]-2-phenylacetamides to afford 3-arylquinolin-2(1H)-ones, through a one-pot dehydrogenation and intramolecular α-alkylation. Control experiments, kinetic studies, and characterization data of a variety of [Ag/LDH]-type materials confirmed the silver role in the dehydrogenation and hydrogenation steps, while [Mg4 Al-LDH] matrix is able to catalyze condensation. Interestingly, these studies suggest as key point for the successful activity of [Ag/Mg4 Al-LDH], in comparison with other [Ag/LDH]-type nanocatalysts, the suitable acid-base properties of this material.

Abstract
Silver-embedded manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieve (Ag-OMS-2) nano-rods were synthesized using a pre-incorporation approach, and unambiguously characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). A highly uniform distribution of Ag nanoparticles embedded in the porous structure of OMS-2, was found to be in favor of high catalytic activity of the composite for hydration of nitriles to corresponding amides in aqueous solution. By using a catalyst dosage of 30 mg per mmol of substrate, in the temperature range of 80-100 °C, and reaction times of 4-9 h, excellent yields (73-96%) of the desired amides (13 examples) were obtained. Also, the catalyst was easy to recycle, and showed a slight decrease in efficiency after six consecutive runs.

Abstract
This research suggests a green method for synthesizing hybrid magnetic nanocomposites that can be used as a reductant and a stabilizing agent for immobilizing metal nanoparticles (NPs). The central idea is the modification of magnetic NPs using Rubia tinctorum extract, which consists of numerous carbonyl and phenolic hydroxyl functional groups to increase adsorption of metals and chelate silver ions, and decrease the adsorption of silver ions by Ag NPs, in situ. Thus, the suggested catalyst preparation process does not require toxic reagents, additional reductants, and intricate instruments. To show the effectiveness of the plant extract in reducing and immobilizing Ag NPs, the structural, morphological, and physicochemical features of the particles are studied using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, X-ray diffraction analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. One of the advantages of the suggested method is to reduce the size of the magnetic NPs from 15-20 to 2-5 nm, in the presence of the extract. Additionally, the prepared Fe3O4@R. tinctorum/Ag nanocatalyst is demonstrated to exhibit a very high activity in the catalysis of the three-component reaction of aldehydes, amines, and alkynes (A3 coupling) with good to high yields of diverse propargylamines. Moreover, the nanocatalyst can be recovered several times with no considerable leaching or loss of performance.

Abstract
The use of solid catalysts to promote organic reactions in water faces the inherent difficulty of the poor mass-transfer efficiency of organic substances in water, which is often responsible for insufficient reaction and low yields. To solve this problem, the solid surface can be manipulated to become amphiphilic. However, the introduction of surfactant-like moieties onto the surface of silica-based materials is not easy. By using an accessible dihydropyran derivative as a grafting linker, a surfactant-combined bifunctional silica-based solid catalyst that possessed an ionic liquid tail and a metal acetylacetonate moiety was prepared through a mild Lewis-acid-catalyzed ring-opening reaction with a thiol-functionalized silica. The surfactant-combined silica-supported metal acetylacetone catalysts displayed excellent catalytic activity in water for a range of reactions. The solid catalyst was also shown to be recyclable, and was reused several times without significant loss in activity.
