Abstract
We report the very first example of a self-assembled p-cymene-Ru(II) metallocycle based on a green emitting 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide Tröger's base (TBNap) supramolecular scaffold. A new cleft-shaped TBNap-derived di-4-picolyl donor was synthesized and reacted in a 2 : 2 stoichiometry ratio with a dinuclear Ru(II) acceptor (Ru-A) to generate a [2 + 2] self-assembled metallocycle (TBNap-Ru-MC) in good yield. Both TBNap and TBNap-Ru-MC showed positive solvatochromism in different solvents with varying polarities. In addition, the binding propensity of cationic TBNap-Ru-MC toward the heparin polyanion was determined using fluorescence titration studies. The initial fluorescence emission of TBNap-Ru-MC was quenched upon the gradual addition of the heparin polyanion, and the Stern-Volmer quenching constant (KSV) was calculated to be 3.97 × 105 M-1.

Abstract
In previous research studies, various types of prismatic cage-shaped molecular containers have been prepared and evaluated in terms of their guest inclusion properties. Basically, most of these molecular cages have a cationic or electron-deficient nature, and exhibit strong affinity mainly toward electron-rich aromatic guests. On the other hand, there is no report concerning anionic prismatic cages that are expected to recognize cationic polyaromatic guests with various structures and functions. In this manuscript, we present the preparation of hexakis(spiroborate)-type molecular cages, which was achieved by the reaction of phenylene- or biphenylenebis(dihydroxynaphthalene), hexahydroxytriphenylene, and boric acid in N,N-dimethylformamide. Their triangular prismatic hollow structures were confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis, and it was found that both phenylene- and biphenylene-bridged spiroborate cages have internal cavities of the corresponding size. It was also revealed that tetra(n-butylammonium) cations located inside the cavity and between the two adjacent spiroborate cages resulted in the formation of a one-dimensional columnar array. The molecular recognition behavior of the spiroborate cages was evaluated using tris(pyridinium)triazines as tricationic aromatic guests. 1H NMR measurement implied that a discrete 1 : 1 host-guest complex was formed when 1 equiv. of guest was added to the cage, whereas infinite one-dimensional aromatic stacks were constructed by the addition of 2 equiv. of guest.

Abstract
Sulfate donor based supramolecular coordination complexes [{ fac-Re(CO)3}(μ-SO4)(L n)2{ fac-Re(CO)3}] (1-3) were obtained using ditopic N donors (L n; n = 1-3), NaHSO3, and Re2(CO)10 in a one-pot, multicomponent, coordination-driven self-assembly approach, in which SO32- becomes oxidized to SO42- during the reaction and acts as a building framework. Complexes 1-3 were characterized using IR, ESI-TOF-MS, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The structures of complexes 1-3 were confirmed using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The transformation of the dinuclear heteroleptic triple-stranded helicate to the dinuclear homoleptic double-stranded mesocate [{Re(CO)3Cl}2(L n)2] (L n = L1, L2, L3; 4a-6a) was achieved by the addition of BaCl2. The direct treatment of Re(CO)5X (X = Cl, Br) with L1/L2/L3 yielded the dinuclear homoleptic double-stranded helicates [{Re(CO)3X}2 (L n)2] (4b-6b and 7-9).

Abstract
The synthesis of flexible rhenium(I)-based amide-functionalized chalcogen-bridged tetranuclear metallacycles of general formula [{(CO)3Re(μ-ER)2Re(CO)3}2(μ-L)2] (1-8) was achieved by treating rhenium carbonyl with dialkyl/diaryl chalcogenide (RE-ER; E = S and Se) in the presence of ditopic flexible or semiflexible pyridyl ligand with amide functionality (L = N,N'-bis(4-pyridylcarboxamide)-1,2-ethane (bpce) and N,N'-bis(4-(4-pyridylcarboxamide)phenyl)methane (bpcpm)). Compounds 1-8 were formed by multicomponent self-assembly under one-pot reaction conditions via oxidative addition of dialkyl/diaryl chalcogenide to rhenium carbonyl with pyridyl ligands. The resultant metallacyclophanes were characterized using elemental analyses, infrared, ultraviolet-visible, and NMR spectroscopic techniques. Metallacyclophanes 1-3 and 7 were structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The solvent-induced structural change of flexible tetranuclear metallacyclophane 2 was demonstrated by crystallizing 2 in dichloroethane and dimethylformamide. Molecular recognition capabilities of 2 and 7 were studied with few aromatic compounds containing ethereal linkages.

Abstract
Neutral, flexible ditopic phosphine (P-P) or phosphine oxide (O=P-P=O) donors, rigid anionic bis-chelating oxygen donors, and Re2(CO)10 were used to assemble ten phosphine oxide (P=O)-donor-based neutral monocyclic M2LL'-, bicyclic M4L2L″-, and bicyclic M4LL'2-type supramolecular coordination complexes (SCCs). A soft ditopic phosphine donor was transformed into a hard ditopic phosphine oxide donor, during the formation of the cyclic complexes 1-3, 5-6, and 9-10. Complexes 4, 7, and 8 were obtained using a hard P=O donor ligand. These SCCs were characterized using elemental analysis, FTIR, NMR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The absorption properties of 1-8 were studied using absorption UV-vis spectroscopic methods, and the results were analyzed using theoretical calculations. The results revealed that the neutral P=O donor significantly influenced the photophysical properties by enhancing the absorption coefficient in the visible region.

Abstract
Flexible hexatopic ligands, 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakis(1H-naphtho[2,3-d]imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (L(2)) and 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakis(4,5-diphenylimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (L(3)), containing six neutral naphthanoimidazolyl and 4,5-diphenylimidazolyl N donors were synthesized and used to assemble M6L6L'-type [M = Re(CO)3, L = anionic angular rigid NN donors, and L' = flexible hexatopic N donors] spheroid metallacycles. These molecules with a diameter of ∼17 Å were obtained from Re2(CO)10, H-L (imidazole, benzimidazole, and naphthanoimidazole), and L' [1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakis(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (L(1)), L(2), and L(3)] in a one-step process. Ligands L(2) and L(3) were characterized by elemental analysis, electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (ESI-TOF-MS), and (1)H NMR spectroscopy. Metallacycles 1-5 were characterized by elemental analysis, ESI-TOF-MS, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Molecules 1, 2, and 4 can be considered as metallocavitands and contain multiple solvent-accessible receptors, i.e., two metallocalix[3]arene units and six/four calix[4]arene-/cleft-shaped receptors, on the surface. Guests such as acetone molecules could be accommodated in the calix[4]arene/cleft-shaped receptor of the metallocavitands.
