Abstract
Compounds featuring bonds between mercury and transition metals are of interest for their intriguing/ambiguous bonding and scarcely explored reactivities. We report herein the synthesis and reactivities of the new compound [(POCOP)Ni]2Hg, [Ni2Hg], featuring a trinuclear Ni-Hg-Ni core (POCOP=κP,κC,κP'-2,6-(i-Pr2PO)2C6H3). [Ni2Hg] reacts with CO2 to give the carbonate-bridged complex [Ni2CO3]. Bubbling CO gas through a solution of [Ni2CO3] gave its μ-CO2 analogue [Ni2CO2], which itself reacts with CO2 to give back [Ni2CO3], indicating that these two compounds interconvert reversibly. This implies that the formation of [Ni2CO3] from [Ni2Hg] and CO2 constitutes a reductive disproportionation of two molecules of CO2 into CO3 2- and CO. Tests showed that this process proceeds through three steps, an initial CO2 insertion to give [Ni2CO2], followed by another CO2 insertion to give the second intermediate [Ni2C2O4], and the latter's decarbonylation to give [Ni2CO3]. Although the putative second intermediate could not be isolated, we have shown that it likely features a μ-carbonyl-carbonate rather than a μ-oxalate moiety, because the latter complex is thermally stable to decarbonylation. Reduction of [Ni2CO3] with excess Na/Hg regenerates [Ni2Hg], establishing that the observed deoxygenation of CO2 in this system can, in principle, be catalytic in the presence of excess reductant.

Abstract
A series of imino-POCNR, amino-POCNR2, and bis(phosphinite) POCOP pincer complexes of Ni(II) were prepared and tested in catalytic deoxygenative hydroboration of amides with HBPin to the corresponding amines. In contrast to the deoxygenative hydrosilylation approach, primarily developed for tertiary amides, superior reactivity in Ni-catalyzed deoxygenative hydroboration was demonstrated for secondary carboxamides. The bis(phosphinite) hydride complex (POCOP)NiH proved the most active in these reactions, tolerating potentially reducible functionalities such as internal alkenes, esters, nitriles, heteroaromatic compounds, and tertiary amides. Preferable hydroboration of secondary amides was also demonstrated in the presence of primary amide functionalities. The reactions were conducted at 60-80 °C, representing a rare example of a base-metal catalytic system for selective deoxygenation of secondary amides to the corresponding amines under mild conditions. In contrast to secondary amides, deoxygenative hydroboration of primary amides was demonstrated using an iminophosphinite pre-catalyst (POCNDmp)Ni(CH2TMS) (Dmp = 2,6-Me2C6H3). Deoxygenation reactions were suggested to proceed via a direct C-O bond cleavage mechanism, which is triggered by dehydrogenative N-borylation to access more electrophilic N-borylamides amenable to the addition of HBPin to the carbonyl group.

Abstract
The nickel PNP pincer complex ( i PrPNP)NiPh ( i PrPNP = κP,κN,κP-N(CH2CH2P i Pr2)2) was prepared by reacting ( i PrPNP)NiBr with PhMgCl or deprotonating [( i PrPNHP)NiPh]Y ( i PrPNHP = κP,κN,κP-HN(CH2CH2P i Pr2)2; Y = Br, PF6) with KO t Bu. The byproducts of the PhMgCl reaction were identified as [( i PrPNHP)NiPh]Br and ( i PrPNP')NiPh ( i PrPNP' = κP,κN,κP-N(CH=CHP i Pr2)(CH2CH2P i Pr2)). The methyl analog ( i PrPNP)NiMe was synthesized from the reaction of ( i PrPNP)NiBr with MeLi, although it was contaminated with ( i PrPNP')NiMe due to ligand oxidation. Protonation of ( i PrPNP)NiX (X = Br, Ph, Me) with various acids, such as HCl, water, and MeOH, was studied in C6D6. Nitrogen protonation was shown to be the most favorable process, producing a cationic species [( i PrPNHP)NiX]+ with the NH moiety hydrogen-bonded to the conjugate base (i.e., Cl-, HO-, or MeO-). Protonation of the Ni-C bond was observed at room temperature with ( i PrPNP)NiMe, whereas at 70 °C with ( i PrPNP)NiPh, both resulting in [( i PrPNHP)NiCl]Cl as the final product. Protonation of ( i PrPNP)NiBr was complicated by site exchange between Br- and the conjugate base and by the degradation of the pincer complexes. Indene, which lacks hydrogen-bonding capability, was unable to protonate ( i PrPNP)NiPh and ( i PrPNP)NiMe, despite being more acidic than water and MeOH. Neutral and cationic nickel pincer complexes involved in this study, including ( i PrPNP')NiBr, ( i PrPNP)NiPh, ( i PrPNP')NiPh, ( i PrPNP)NiMe, [( i PrPNHP)NiPh]Y (Y = Br, PF6, BPh4), [( i PrPNHP)NiPh]2[NiCl4], [( i PrPNHP)NiMe]Y (Y = Cl, Br, BPh4), [( i PrPNHP)NiBr]Br, and [( i PrPNHP)NiCl]Cl, were characterized by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract
This report describes the synthesis and characterization of a family of unsymmetrical NCN pincer Ni(ii) complexes 2-8 with NHC-triazole arms. All of these complexes have been fully characterized by X-ray single crystal analysis, NMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. Complexes 2 and 4-6 were square planar with a chloride trans to the carbene carbon atoms. Complex 3 was a paramagnetic octahedral complex with its central metal surrounded by two NCN pincer ligands. Complexes 7 and 8 contain [(NHC)2Ni2-OH] moieties bearing a OH bridge. Both the [(NHC)2Ni2-OH] complexes 7 and 8 and [(NCNHCN)Ni-Cl] complexes 2 and 4-6 were synthesized similarly via the reactions of the in situ formed Ag-NHCs from the corresponding imidazolium salts with [NiCl2(PPh3)2]. The catalytic activities of all complexes for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling were examined. Under the optimized conditions, complex 4 was active in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions of aryl iodides and aryl bromides at 110 °C. Aryl chlorides were successfully coupled in the presence of triphenylphosphine as an additive.

Abstract
For the first time, the bidentate phosphinite ligand 1,2-bis(di-tert-butylphosphinoxy)ethane (tBu2 POCH2 CH2 OPtBu2 ) was synthesized. In the presence of this ligand, various N-acyl enamides were obtained in good yields and chemoselectivity by Pd-catalyzed carbonylation reaction of imines containing α-H. Meanwhile, imines without α-H could be transformed to N-acyl imines, which form highly hindered amides by straightforward addition of Grignard reagents.

Abstract
Pincer complexes can act as catalysts in organic transformations and have potential applications in materials, medicine and biology. They exhibit robust structures and high thermal stability attributed to the tridentate coordination of the pincer ligands and the strong σ metal–carbon bond. Nickel derivatives of these ligands have shown high catalytic activities in cross-coupling reactions and other industrially relevant transformations. This work reports the crystal structures of two polymorphs of the title NiIIPOCOP pincer complex, [Ni(C29H41N2O8P2)Cl] or [NiCl{C6H2-4-[OCOC6H4-3,5-(NO2)2]-2,6-(OPtBu2)2}]. Both pincer structures exhibit the NiIIatom in a distorted square-planar coordination geometry with the POCOP pincer ligand coordinated in a typical tridentate mannerviathe two P atoms and one arene C atomviaa C—Ni σ bond, giving rise to two five-membered chelate rings. The coordination sphere of the NiIIcentre is completed by a chloride ligand. The asymmetric units of both polymorphs consist of one molecule of the pincer complex. In the first polymorph, the arene rings are nearly coplanar, with a dihedral angle between the mean planes of 27.9 (1)°, while in the second polymorph, this angle is 82.64 (1)°, which shows that the arene rings are almost perpendicular to one another. The supramolecular structure is directed by the presence of weak C—H...O=X(X= C or N) interactions, forming two- and three-dimensional chain arrangements.
