Abstract
Bis(trifluoromethyl)carbinols are valuable pharmacophores, yet their synthesis is challenging, largely due to a scarcity of safe and effective bis(trifluoromethyl)carbinolation reagents. Here, we realized the hydrobis(trifluoromethyl)carbinolation of alkenes, utilizing stable and readily accessible 2,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)glycolic acid as a source of both the bis(trifluoromethyl)carbinol unit and a hydrogen atom. This process leverages a photoinduced Fe-LMCT-enabled radical decarboxylation process that generates a key bis(trifluoromethyl)carbinol radical intermediate. Our mild protocol facilitates the synthesis of a diverse range of alkyl bis(trifluoromethyl)carbinols, including structurally complex molecules with pharmaceutical relevance.

Abstract
The selective introduction of perfluoro-tert-butyl group (PFtB, the bulkier analogue of CF3 group) into arenes has long been sought after but remains a formidable task. We herein report the first general synthetic protocol to realize aromatic perfluoro-tert-butylation. The key to the success is the identification of PFtB phenyl sulfone as a new source of PFtB anion, which reacts with arynes in a highly regioselective manner to afford perfluoro-tert-butylated arenes in high yields. The application of the method is demonstrated by the preparation of sensitive 19F-labeled NMR probes with an extraordinary resolving ability.

Abstract
State-of-the-art nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) selective experiments are capable of directly analyzing crude reaction mixtures. A new experiment named HD-HAPPY-FESTA yields ultrahigh-resolution total correlation subspectra, which are suitable for sign-sensitive determination of heteronuclear couplings, as demonstrated here by measuring the sign and magnitude for proton-fluorine couplings (JHF) from major and minor isomer products of a two-step reaction without any purification. Proton-fluorine couplings ranging from 51.5 to -2.6 Hz could be measured using HD-HAPPY-FESTA, with the smallest measured magnitude of 0.8 Hz. Experimental JHF values were used to identify the two fluoroketone intermediates and the four fluoroalcohol products. Results were rationalized and compared with the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Experimental data were further compared with the couplings reported in the literature, where pure samples were analyzed.

Abstract
Tracking drugs with 19F MRI would be beneficial for developing theranostics and optimizing drug therapy. To this end, a fluorinated dendritic amphiphile with high 19F MRI sensitivity and biocompatibility has been developed for 19F MRI tracking of doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded liposomes in mice, which may provide an effective platform to in vivo trace various drugs with 19F MRI.

Abstract
AIM Imatinib possesses various mechanisms for combating cancer, making the development of imatinib analogs an attractive target for cancer research. METHOD Two series of analogs were designed and synthesized, maintaining the essential pharmacophoric features in imatinib structure. The synthesized compounds were subjected to cell-based antiproliferative assays against nonsmall lung (A549) and colon cancer cell lines. In addition, flow cytometry cell cycle and caspase-3 colorimetric assays were performed. RESULTS Most compounds showed potent anticancer activity against both cell lines with IC50 = 0.14-5.07 μM. Three compounds demonstrated ability to reinforce cell cycle arrest at G1 stage in a manner similar to imatinib. In addition, they induced apoptosis via activation of caspase-3.

Abstract
For detecting metal ions with 19F chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging (19F CEST MRI), a class of novel fluorinated chelators with diverse fluorine contents and chelation properties were conveniently synthesized on gram scales. Among them, a DTPA-derived chelator with high sensitivity and selectivity was identified as a novel 19F CEST imaging probe for simultaneously detecting multiple metal ions.
