Abstract
To investigate the influence of the crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) structure on electrical performance, various analytical methods were employed to study polyethylene structures with different degrees of crosslinking. Dynamic rheological analysis was conducted to determine material shear viscosity, dynamic viscosity, storage modulus (G'), loss modulus (G″), and other rheological parameters. Additionally, the electrical performance of the material was analyzed by studying the phenomenon of space charge accumulation under direct current voltage. The results indicate that with an increasing mass fraction of the crosslinking agent, the crosslink density of crosslinked polyethylene initially increases and then decreases. When the dicumyl peroxide (DCP) content exceeds 1.0 wt.%, there is an accumulation of like-polarity space charges. The best rheological processing performance of crosslinked polyethylene is observed when the DCP content is in the range of 1.0-1.5 wt.%.

Abstract
A novel room-temperature stable diamagnetic nickel complex 2 was detected upon activation of Brookhart-type ethylene polymerization pre-catalyst LNiBr2 (1, L = 1,4-bis-2,4,6-trimethylphenyl-2,3-dimethyl-1,4-diazabuta-1,3-diene) with AlMe3. Using in situ 1H, 2H, and 13C NMR spectroscopy, as well as DFT calculations, this species has been identified as an antiferromagnetically coupled homodinuclear complex [LNiII(μ-Me)(μ-CH2)NiIIL]+Br−. Its behavior in the reaction solution is characteristic of the resting state of nickel catalyzed ethylene polymerization.

Abstract
As a representative class of sustainable polymer materials, biodegradable polymers have attracted increasing interest in recent years. Despite significant advance of related polymerization techniques, realizing high sequence-control and easy-handling in ring-opening (co)polymerizations still remains a central challenge. To this end, a promising solution is the development of valence-variable metal-based catalysts for redox-induced switchable polymerization of cyclic esters, cyclic ethers, epoxides, and CO2 . Through a valence-determined electron effect, the switch between different catalytically active states as well as dormant state contributes to convenient formation of polymer products with desired microstructures and various practical performances. This redox-controlled switchable strategy for controlled synthesis of polymers is overviewed in this Review with a focus on potential applications and challenges for further studies.

Abstract
Reactions of VCl3 with 1,2-Bis[(4-methylphenyl)imino]acenaphthene (4-Me-C6H4-bian) or 1,2-Bis[(2-methylphenyl)imino]acenaphthene (2-Me-C6H4-bian) in air lead to the formation of [VOCl2(R-bian)(H2O)] (R = 4-Me-C6H4 (1), 2-Me-C6H4 (2)). Thes complexes were characterized by IR and EPR spectroscopy as well as elemental analysis. Complexes 1 and 2 have high catalytic activity in the oxidation of hydrocarbons with hydrogen peroxide and alcohols with tert-butyl hydroperoxide in acetonitrile at 50 °С. The product yields are up to 40% for cyclohexane. Of particular importance is the addition of 2-pyrazinecarboxylic acid (PCA) as a co-catalyst. Oxidation proceeds mainly with the participation of free hydroxyl radicals, as evidenced by taking into account the regio- and bond-selectivity in the oxidation of n-heptane and methylcyclohexane, as well as the dependence of the reaction rate on the initial concentration of cyclohexane.

Abstract
α-Diimine ligands have significantly shaped the coordination chemistry of most transition metal complexes. Among them, bis(imino)acenaphthene ligands (BIANs) have recently been matured to great versatility and applicability to catalytic reactions. Besides variations of the ligand periphery, the great versatility of BIAN ligands resides within their ability to undergo facile electronic manipulations. This review highlights key aspects of BIAN ligands in metal complexes and summarizes recent contributions of metal-BIAN catalysts to syntheses of small and functionalized organic molecules.

Abstract
Nickel(II) complexes with bidentate N,N-α-diimine ligands constitute a broad class of promising catalysts for the synthesis of branched polyethylenes via ethylene homopolymerization. Despite extensive studies devoted to the rational design of new Ni(II) α-diimines with desired catalytic properties, the polymerization mechanism has not been fully rationalized. In contrast to the well-characterized cationic Ni(II) active sites of ethylene polymerization and their precursors, the structure and role of Ni(I) species in the polymerization process continues to be a “black box”. This perspective discusses recent advances in the understanding of the nature and role of monovalent nickel complexes formed in Ni(II) α-diimine-based ethylene polymerization catalyst systems.

Abstract
In this contribution, we install an azobenzene functionality in olefin polymerization catalysts and use light to modulate their properties via photoinduced trans-cis isomerization of the azobenzene moiety. The initially targeted azobenzene-functionalized α-diimine palladium and nickel catalysts are not photoresponsive. To address this issue, an imine-amine system bearing interrupted conjugation with the metal center, and a sandwich-type α-diimine system bearing an azobenzene unit at a position covalently far from the metal center were prepared and studied. We demonstrate that light can be used to tune their properties in ethylene polymerization and copolymerization with polar comonomers, enabling light-induced control of the polymerization processes, polymer microstructures and polymer properties. More interestingly, the light-mediated property changes were attributed to ligand electronic effects in one system and ligand steric effects in the other.

Abstract
In recent years, polyolefin elastomers play an increasingly important role in industry.
The late transition metal complex catalysts, especially α-diimine Ni(II) and α-diimine
Pd(II) complex catalysts, are popular “chain-walking” catalysts. They can prepare polyolefin
with various structures, ranging from linear configuration to highly branched configuration.
Combining the “chain-walking” characteristic with different polymerization strategies, polyolefins
with good elasticity can be obtained. Among them, olefin copolymer is a common
way to produce polyolefin elastomers. For instance, strictly defined diblock or triblock copolymers
with excellent elastic properties were synthesized by adding ethylene and α-olefin
in sequence. As well as the incorporation of polar monomers may lead to some unexpected
improvement. Chain shuttling polymerization can generate multiblock copolymers in one pot
due to the interaction of the catalysts with chain shuttling agent. Furthermore, when regarding ethylene as the sole
feedstock, owing to the “oscillation” of the ligands of the asymmetric catalysts, polymers with stereo-block structures
can be generated. Generally, the elasticity of these polyolefins mainly comes from the alternately crystallineamorphous
block structures, which is closely related to the characteristic of the catalytic system. To improve performance
of the catalysts and develop excellent polyolefin elastomers, research on the catalytic mechanism is of great
significance. Electron spin resonance (ESR), as a precise method to detect unpaired electron, can be applied to study
transition metal active center. Therefore, the progress on the exploration of the valence and the proposed configuration
of catalyst active center in the catalytic process by ESR is also reviewed.
