Abstract
In recent years, discovering new drug candidates has become a top priority in research. Natural products have proven to be a promising source for such discoveries as many researchers have successfully isolated bioactive compounds with various activities that show potential as drug candidates. Among these compounds, phenolic compounds have been frequently isolated due to their many biological activities, including their role as antioxidants, making them candidates for treating diseases related to oxidative stress. The isolation method is essential, and researchers have sought to find effective procedures that maximize the purity and yield of bioactive compounds. This review aims to provide information on the isolation or separation methods for phenolic compounds with antioxidant activities using column chromatography, medium-pressure liquid chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, counter-current chromatography, hydrophilic interaction chromatography, supercritical fluid chromatography, molecularly imprinted technologies, and high-performance thin layer chromatography. For isolation or purification, the molecularly imprinted technologies represent a more accessible and more efficient procedure because they can be applied directly to the extract to reduce the complicated isolation process. However, it still requires further development and refinement.

Abstract
Conventional molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP)-based electrochemical sensors are generally susceptible to the changes of personal operation, electrode surface, and solution conditions. Herein, a ratiometric strategy was employed through introducing Cu2O nanoparticles (NPs) as inner reference probe to realize the reliable detection of diethylstilbestrol (DES). MIP film was prepared by electropolymerization of 1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylicacid in the presence of DES on carbon nanotubes/cuprous oxide/titanium carbide (CNT/Cu2O NPs/Ti3C2Tx) modified electrodes. The Ti3C2Tx with accordion-like structure not only possessed good electrical conductivity, but also facilitated the immobilization of Cu2O NPs, which contributed to stabilizing the signal. CNT was introduced to further improve the sensitivity of the sensor. Under optimum conditions, the MIP/CNT/Cu2O NPs/Ti3C2Tx electrochemical sensors showed a broad linear response range of 0.01 to 70 μM, and a low detection limit of 6 nM (S/N = 3). Moreover, the sensor was applied to detect DES in real samples including lake water, milk, and pork, and the recoveries for spiked standard were 88-112%. Thus, this work provides a new way for reliable DES detection.

Abstract
A liquid-liquid extraction methodology was developed for the removal of Cr(VI) from contaminated water using a novel green hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent (DES) as an efficient sole extracting agent. The hydrophobic DES was obtained by mixing choline chloride and thymol in 1:4 molar ratio at 70°C for 10 min and was denoted as ChCl-THY(1:4). The ChCl-THY(1:4) works efficiently for removal of high (20 mg/L) and low (500 µg/L) concentration of Cr(VI) from artificially contaminated natural water with >95% extraction efficiency (E%) at optimized reaction conditions (pH 2-6, 40°C). The DES was characterized by 1 H NMR and FTIR spectroscopy, and the data suggest that interaction occurs between Cl- ion of choline chloride and H atoms of thymol molecules. Physicochemical properties such as density, melting point, moisture, and solubility were studied and discussed. Herein, no sharp melting point was observed for ChCl-THY(1:4) in DSC curve. DES was regenerated using 0.1 M NaOH as stripping agent, and 50%-60% extraction efficiency could be attained in the next cycle. A plausible mechanism of interaction between Cr(VI) species and DES was also explored with the help of FTIR spectroscopy. PRACTITIONER POINTS: A novel hydrophobic DES (ChCl-THY) is prepared by mixing choline chloride and thymol at 1:4 molar ratio. ChCl-THY(1:4) is employed for the first time as sole extracting agent to remove the Cr(VI) from contaminated aqueous solution. >95% extraction efficiency was achieved by ChCl-THY(1:4) in natural water conditions at µg/L and mg/L level of contamination. Both the component used to prepare the DES are naturally abundant; hence, DES is not toxic for biota. The element present in natural water did not show any interference with extraction of Cr(VI).

Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) is used as a stabilizing agent in many food packaging plastics and is a known endocrine-disrupting chemical that can alter the development of mammary glands, affect egg cells, and cause chromosomal defects. However, the pretreatment of traditional assays for detecting BPA is difficult. In this work, a novel aptamer functionalized magnetic adsorbent was developed and combined with magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) for the selective enrichment of BPA. First, magnetic silica-coated Fe3O4 microspheres (Fe3O4@SiO2) were synthesized by the sol-gel method, and functional magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@SiO2@Apt) were formed by modifying with nucleic acids. In the presence of BPA in a MSPE system, the nucleic acid aptamer can specifically capture the target BPA. After magnetic separation, the Apt/BPA composite was eluted, and we observed enhanced fluorescence with the Apt/BPA composite that was formed. Our results showed that this method allowed a limit of detection of 0.05 ng mL-1.

Abstract
Carbamazepine (CBZ) is a typical pharmaceutical residue commonly found in aqueous environments, but its removal through activated carbon or advanced oxidation processes is often disrupted by co-existing organic matter. An imprinting system which consisted of the target pollutant CBZ (template molecule) and 10 different kinds of functional monomers was constructed via molecular simulation to screen for appropriate monomers, thereby addressing CBZ removal disruptions. An annealing method simulation was used to search for stable, low-energy conformations of the template-monomer interaction system to calculate the binding energy of these different monomers with CBZ. The order of binding affinity calculated was: 4-vinylbenzoic acid > itaconic acid > methacrylic acid, which was consistent with the experimental observations. The adsorption capacity of the molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) prepared using 4-vinylbenzoic acid reached 28.40 mg/g, and the imprinting factor reached 2.72. The simulation and measurement of the ultraviolet spectrum of the imprinting system showed that a new interaction system was formed between the template and monomers, and that multiple binding conformations between them took place when specific recognition occurred. Energy calculation and hydrogen bond analysis revealed that the van der Waals force, including the π-π conjugate and electrostatic forces including hydrogen bonding, played an important role during selective adsorption, which was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy analysis.
