Abstract
Severe CO2 emissions has posed an increasingly alarming threat, motivating the development of efficient CO2 capture materials, one of the key parts of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). In this study, a series of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) named Sc-X (X = S, M, L) were constructed inspired by recorded MOFs, Zn-BPZ-SA and MFU-4l-Li. The corresponding isoreticular double-interpenetrating MOFs (Sc-X-IDI) were subsequently constructed via the introduction of isoreticular double interpenetration. Grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations were adopted at 298 K and 0.1-1.0 bar to comprehensively evaluate the CO2 capture and separation performances in Sc-X and Sc-X-IDI, with gas distribution, isothermal adsorption heat (Qst), and van der Waals (vdW)/Coulomb interactions. It is showed that isoreticular double interpenetration significantly improved the interactions between adsorbed gases and frameworks by precisely modulating pore sizes, particularly observed in Sc-M and Sc-M-IDI. Specifically, the Qst and Coulomb interactions exhibited a substantial increase, rising from 28.38 and 22.19 kJ mol-1 in Sc-M to 43.52 and 38.04 kJ mol-1 in Sc-M-IDI, respectively, at 298 K and 1.0 bar. Besides, the selectivity of CO2 over CH4/N2 was enhanced from 55.36/107.28 in Sc-M to 3308.61/7021.48 in Sc-M-IDI. However, the CO2 capture capacity is significantly influenced by the pore size. Sc-M, with a favorable pore size, exhibits the highest capture capacity of 15.86 mmol g-1 at 298 K and 1.0 bar. This study elucidated the impact of isoreticular double interpenetration on the CO2 capture performance in MOFs.

Abstract
With the aim of controlling the orientation of liquid crystals (LCs) toward realizing external stimuli-responsive materials with tunable functionalities, we synthesized a composite of LCs and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) by filling LCs into the pores of MOFs (LC@MOFs) for the first time. The included LCs interact with the MOFs through coordination bonds between the cyano groups of the LCs and the metal ions of the MOFs, enabling the orientation of the LC molecules inside the pores of the MOFs and the realization of birefringence of LC@MOFs. The three-dimensional nanometer interstice frameworks maintained the LC orientation even at temperatures much higher than the isotropic phase transition temperature of bulk LCs. Furthermore, the orientational state changed upon heating or cooling, inducing temperature-dependent birefringence. This study provides a new approach to the development of stimuli-responsive optical materials and stimuli-responsive MOFs.

Abstract
One of the iconic characteristics of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is the possesssion of guest-accessible pores. Increasing pore size has a direct and often beneficial impact on a MOF's adsorption and separation properties. However, as pore size increases, the resulting void spaces are often filled by interpenetrated frameworks, where one or more networks crystallize within the pore system of another identical network, reducing the MOF's free volume and pore size. Furthermore, due to the thermodynamic favorability of interpenetration during solvothermal synthesis, techniques to synthetically differentiate interpenetrated from non-interpenetrated MOFs are paramount. This study reports the synthesis of deinterpenetrated IRMOF-9 via halide mediated deinterpenetrative conversion of Zn4 O-derived IRMOF-9. IRMOF-9, when treated with ethylammonium bromide, is quasi-selectively etched, revealing the non-interpenetrated analogue, IRMOF-10 (deinterpenetrated IRMOF-9), which can be isolated prior to complete dissolution by the bromide solution. Dye adsorption, surface area and pore size distribution analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction are consistent with successful deinterpenetration.

Polymeric Copper(II) Complexes with a Newly Synthesized Biphenyldicarboxylic Acid Schiff Base Ligand—Synthesis, Structural and Thermal Characterization. INORGANICS 2022. Abstract
The newly synthesized biphenyldicarboxylic acid Schiff base and its complexes with Cu(II) were synthesized, and their spectroscopic and structural analysis was performed. The reaction of the ligand and copper(II) acetate in different solvents resulted in the formation of two solvatomorphic complexes, one with MeOH, and the other with DMF molecules, in the crystal lattice. The differences in the results of the thermal analysis could be explained by the different polarities of the solvents present. SC-XRD analysis revealed that the ligand is coordinated as a dianion, in a pentadentate manner, through two phenoxide oxygen atoms, two azomethine nitrogen atoms, and with the oxygen atom of one carboxylate functioning as a bridge that connects the monomeric units. The coordination polyhedron was described with several parameters obtained from different methods of calculation. The presence of different solvents in the crystal structure results in differences in the H-bond networks, and an overall different crystal packing of the structural units in the obtained complexes.

Abstract
MOFs with adequate free nitrogen sites have potential applications in dye adsorption and formic acid dehydrogenation. Here, we successfully synthesized a novel 3-D MOF 1 ([(CH3)2NH2][Cd(L)DMA]·0.5DMA·1.5H2O) with a special two-fold interpenetrating framework through a simple solvothermal reaction between CdCl2·1.5H2O and a nitrogen-rich triangular tricarboxylate-based linker (H3L, 4,4',4''-s-triazine-2,4,6-tribenzoic acid). After removing the guest molecules of dimethylacetamide (DMA) and H2O, including the coordinated DMA from 1 by vacuum activation at 423 K, a compound named 1' with a formula of [(CH3)2NH2][Cd(L)] and a similar interpenetrating framework structure was obtained. In comparison with compound 1, the total void volume of 1' is nearly doubled, and thus may provide higher potential for the adsorption of other guest molecules. Notably, the pyridine N atoms located in the middle of the triangular tricarboxylate-based linker are not involved in the coordination with Cd2+, and are all uniformly dispersed throughout the whole framework of the 3-D MOFs. Due to its unique structural features, the 3-D MOF 1' could effectively adsorb the cationic dye MB+ for recycling purposes. The rapid adsorption rate (0.7 × 10-2 g mg-1 min-1) and the relatively high capacity (900 mg g-1) for MB+ demonstrate the potential of 1' in dye adsorption. In addition, 1' may also be used as an effective support to immobilize PdAu NPs via the double-solvent method. The resultant catalyst Pd0.8Au0.2/1' exhibits decent catalytic activity for the dehydrogenation of formic acid with a TOF value of 1854 h-1 at 333 K. The existence of a large void volume and accessible pyridine N atoms provide a suitable environment for achieving a high dispersion of PdAu NPs, thereby leading to the formation of a catalytically active and stable supported noble-metal NP catalyst for H2 generation from formic acid decomposition.

Abstract
Increasing global environmental pollution due to heavy metal ions raises the importance of research on new multifunctional materials for simultaneous detection and removal of these contaminants from water resources. In this study, we report a microporous 8-connected Zr4+ metal-organic framework (MOF) based on a terephthalate ligand decorated with a chelating 2-picolylamine side group (dMOR-2), which shows highly efficient fluorescence sensing and sorption of heavy metal cations. We demonstrate by detailed fluorescence studies the ability of a water-dispersible composite of dMOR-2 with polyvinylpyrrolidone for real-time detection of Cu2+, Pb2+, and Hg2+ in aqueous media. The limits of detection were found to be below 2 ppb for these species, while the system's performance is not affected by the presence of other potentially competitive ions. In addition, sorption studies showed that a composite of dMOR-2 with calcium alginate (dMOR-2@CaA) is an excellent sorbent for Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions with capacities of 376 ± 15 and 117 ± 4 mg per gram of dMOR-2@CaA, respectively, while displaying the capability for simultaneous removal of various heavy metal ions in low initial concentrations and in the presence of large excesses of other cationic species. Structural and spectroscopic studies with model ligands analogous to our material's receptor unit showed chelation to the 2-picolylamine moiety to be the main binding mode of metal ions to dMOR-2. Overall, dMOR-2 is shown to represent a rare example of a MOF, which combines sensitive fluorescence detection and high sorption capacity for heavy metal ions.

Abstract
Tailoring the pore environments of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is key to improving their performance and expanding their applicability. Postsynthetic methods, wherein an already synthesized MOF undergoes further chemical reactions, present many advantages for such tailoring and lead to much interesting new chemistry. However, this method has seldom been pushed farther than two reaction steps on the organic component. Here we report a three-step sequence starting from an alkenyl group on the biphenyl backbone of an IRMOF-9 analogue. The alkene is converted to an oxirane group and subsequently to a 1,2-azidoalcohol. The ultimate product is a framework functionalized with an aziridine ring. The reaction efficiency of each step is high, which suppresses the formation of undesired functional groups and the buildup of unintended multivariate frameworks. The synthesis of each framework was attempted via a direct synthetic method employing the appropriately functionalized biphenyldicarboxylate ligand. In general, this met with failure, which demonstrates the power and utility of postsynthetic methods for preparing new materials.

Abstract
Porous coordination polymers with organic aminium as one of the guest species possess a potential application in dye adsorption and white-light material manufacture. Polycarboxylic acid with multiple COOH substituents tends to form this type of porous material (with metal ion). Here the solvothermal self-assembly between Cd2+ and a hexacarboxylic acid creates such a porous material [(CH3)2NH2]6[Cd3(L)2]·5DMF·3H2O (H6L = 3,4-di(3,5-dicarboxyphenyl)phthalic acid) 1. Total potential guest accessible void volume in 3-D 1 is found to be 4327 Å3. Based on its better porous structure and stability, the ability of 1 to adsorb organic dyes is investigated. It has been proved that (i) 1 can selectively adsorb cationic dyes as Azure A (AA+) and/or Methylene Blue (MB+), rather than neutral and anionic ones; (ii) the maximum adsorption capacity is 698.2 mg·g-1 for AA+ and 573.2 mg·g-1 for MB+, respectively; and (iii) to the adsorption of AA+, it can be recycled for at least five rounds. Also, it is utilized to fabricate the while-light emitting material. Based on the blue-light emission of 1, the trace Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions are introduced into the pores of 1 successfully, obtaining a white-light emitting material Eu3+/Tb3+@1 (CIE chromaticity coordinates: (0.33, 0.32)). Meanwhile, Eu3+/Tb3+@1 is found to be a potential fluorescence photochromic material, showing a yellow-white-blue light emission. According to these investigations, the relationship between material structure and its adsorption property for dyes, the points that should be paid attention to in the construction of white-light emitting materials as well as the potential adsorption mechanism for dyes and rare earth ions are deeply discussed.

Abstract
Alkaline earth metal ion organic frameworks (AEMOFs) represent a relatively underexplored subcategory of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). In this contribution, we present the synthesis and structural study of the new MOFs 1-8 based on the alkaline earth ions Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+ and the amino substituted bridging ligands 4-aminonaphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate (ANDC2-) and 4,8-diaminonaphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate (DANDC2-). Compounds 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8 constitute rare examples of three-dimensional MOFs which feature square planar M4 secondary building units (SBUs) surrounded by eight bridging ditopic ligands. The underlying topology of MOFs 1, 5, 7 and 8 conforms to the 4-c pcb net which can be simplified to the 8-c bcu net, while 6 adopts the 4-c lta net which simplifies to the 8-c reo net. To the best of our knowledge these are the first examples of MOFs of their structural types formed by linear dicarboxylates instead of trigonal tricarboxylates or tetrahedral tetracarboxylates. Compounds 2, 3 and 4 also feature three dimensional networks with linear rod-shaped SBUs with the Ba2+ MOF 3 displaying an sra rod-net and MOFs 2 and 4 showing very complex rod-nets with so far unique topologies. Fluorescence studies revealed that the free ligands exhibit strong blue-green emission displaying considerable positive solvatochromism thereby pointing towards charge transfer excited states involving the shift of electron density from the amino groups to the aromatic core. Correspondingly, the MOFs display ligand based fluorescence with small differences in emission maxima possibly attributable to the difference in the charge density of the metal ions combined with the different environments around ligands in the crystal structures.
