Abstract
Essential oils (EOs) that have antifungal activity and mycotoxin reduction ability are candidates to develop bioactive alternatives and environmentally friendly treatment against Fusarium species in cereals. However, their practical use is facing limitations such as high volatility, UV sensitivity, and fast oxidation. Encapsulation techniques are supposed to provide protection to the EOs and control their release into the environment. Ammoides pusilla essential oil (AP-EO) proved to be an efficient inhibitor of Fusarium avenaceum growth and its enniatins (ENNs) production. In the present work, AP-EO was encapsulated, using the impregnation method, into mesoporous silica particles (MSPs) with narrow slit pores (average diameter = 3.1 nm) and coated with chitosan. In contact assays using an agar medium, the antifungal activity of AP-EO at 0.1 µL mL-1 improved by three times when encapsulated into MSPs without chitosan and the ENNs production was significantly inhibited both in coated and non-coated MSPs. Controls of MSPs also inhibited the ENNs production without affecting the mycelial growth. In fumigation experiments assessing the activity of the EO volatile compounds, encapsulation into MSPs improved significantly both the antifungal activity and ENNs inhibition. Moreover, coating with chitosan stopped the release of EO. Thus, encapsulation of an EO into MSPs improving its antifungal and antimycotoxin properties is a promising tool for the formulation of a natural fungicide that could be used in the agriculture or food industry to protect plant or food products from the contamination by toxigenic fungi such as Fusarium sp. and their potential mycotoxins.

Abstract
In this work, we present core-shell microgels with tailor-made architecture and properties for the incorporation of palladium nanoparticles. The microgel core consists of poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAM) copolymerized with methacrylic acid (MAc) as anchor point for the incorporation of palladium nanoparticles. The microgel shell is prepared by copolymerization of NIPAM and the UV-sensitive comonomer 2-hydroxy-4-(methacryloyloxy)-benzophenone (HMABP). The obtained core-shell architecture was analyzed by means of photon correlation spectroscopy, while the incorporated amount of HMABP was further confirmed via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Subsequently, the microgel system was used for loading with palladium nanoparticles and their size and localization were investigated by transmission electron microscopy. The catalytic activity of the monodisperse palladium nanoparticles was tested by reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol. The obtained reaction rate constants for the core-shell system showed enhanced activity compared to the Pd-loaded bare core system. Furthermore, it was possible to recycle the catalyst several times. Analysis via transmission electron microscopy revealed, that the incorporated palladium nanoparticles emerged undamaged after the reaction and subsequent purification process since no aggregation or loss in size was observed.

Abstract
Over the past few decades, the use of transition metal nanoparticles (NPs) in catalysis has attracted much attention and their use in C–C bond forming reactions constitutes one of their most important applications. A huge variety of metal NPs, which have showed high catalytic activity for C–C bond forming reactions, have been developed up to now. Many kinds of stabilizers, such as inorganic materials, magnetically recoverable materials, porous materials, organic–inorganic composites, carbon materials, polymers, and surfactants have been utilized to develop metal NPs catalysts. This review classified and outlined the categories of metal NPs by the type of support.

Abstract
In this study, free-radical polymerisation inside MCM-41 mesopores was examined to expose a construction route for a temperature-responsive switchable polymer-silica nanohybrid material with well-defined porosity. Herein, we introduced a vinyl monomer (N-isopropyl acrylamide), a cross-linker, and an AIBN initiator into the palladium nanoparticle incorporated MCM-41 pore channels using the wet-impregnation method followed by in situ radical polymerisation. The structural properties of the synthesised PNIPAM-PdNP-MCM-41 catalyst were analysed by various sophisticated analytical techniques. The temperature switchable nanohybrid catalyst was used to reduce carbonyl compounds to their corresponding alcohols. The catalyst showed high catalytic efficiency and robustness in an aqueous medium at 25 °C. Moreover, the system's polymer layer remarkably boosted catalytic selectivity and activity for carbonyl compound reduction as compared to other controlled catalysts. The suggested switchable system can be employed as a temperature-controllable heterogeneous catalyst and highlights a substitute technique to counter the methodical insufficiency in switchable supported molecular catalytic system production.

Abstract
Suzuki-Miyaura (SM) cross-coupling is one of the most effective strategies for carbon-carbon bond formation, but previous methods have several drawbacks, such as the requirement of complicated ligands, toxic organic solvents, and high-content-Pd catalysts. Thus, in this study, a highly efficient SM cross-coupling was developed using metal oxide catalysts: 0.02 mol% Pd, aqueous solvent, no ligand, and room temperature. Metal oxides containing low Pd content (ppm scale) were prepared by a simple co-precipitation method and used as a catalyst for the SM reaction. A fluorescence-based high-throughput screening (HTS) method was developed for the rapid evaluation of catalytic activity and reaction conditions. Among the various metal oxides, Pd/Fe2O3 showed the highest activity for the SM reaction. After further optimization by HTS, various biaryl compounds were obtained under optimal conditions: Pd/Fe2O3 (0.02 mol% Pd) in aqueous ethanol at mild temperature without any ligands.
