Abstract
A divergent copper-catalyzed defluorinative C(sp3)-C(sp2) cross-coupling of gem-diborylalkanes with polyfluoroarenes has been developed through a synergistic ligand/base-controlled strategy. Various fluorinated aromatic compounds were obtained in moderate to excellent yields. Late-stage modification of bioactive molecules, gram-scale reaction, and versatile downstream derivatization demonstrated the application value of this protocol. Preliminary mechanistic studies hinted that this transformation is a SNAr mechanism rather than a radical pathway.

Abstract
We report a copper-catalyzed regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselective allylic alkylation of allyl bromides using 1,1-diborylalkanes as prochiral nucleophiles. This methodology employs copper(I) bromide as a catalyst, an (R)-BINOL-derived phosphoramidite as a ligand, and lithium benzoate as a crucial additive. The reaction affords enantioenriched homoallylic boronic esters possessing vicinal stereocenters in good yields and high diastereo- and enantioselectivity. The developed method demonstrates a broad substrate scope with respect to a wide range of 1,1-diborylalkanes and allyl bromides. Mechanistic studies, including deuterium-labeling experiments and DFT calculations, provide insights into the reaction pathway and the origin of the stereoselectivity. The synthetic utility of this method is showcased through various transformations of the obtained enantioenriched homoallylic boronic esters into valuable chiral building blocks.

Abstract
Organoboron compounds are environmentally benign, have low toxicity and are versatile reagents that are extensively employed in organic synthesis, especially in the realm of asymmetric synthesis. The last several decades have witnessed a tremendous outburst of asymmetric reactions based on various organoboron compounds. Among them, 1,1-diborylalkanes, which contain two boryl groups at the same sp3-carbon atom, are regarded as some of the most versatile and powerful reagents for their unique structure and unusual reaction mode in organic synthesis. Moreover, owing to the stabilizing effect of the empty p-orbital of the neighboring boron atoms and the inherent good steric-hindrance, 1,1-diborylalkanes often exhibit extraordinary reactivity and stereoselectivity compared to other kinds of organoboron compounds in asymmetric synthesis. Herein, the present highlight summarizes and discusses the recent progress achieved in the catalytic enantioselective reactions of 1,1-diborylalkanes during the past decade.

Abstract
Reactions of a dicopper(I) tert-butoxide complex with alkynes possessing boryl or silyl capping groups resulted in formation of unprecedented tetracopper(I) μ-acetylide/diyne complexes that were characterized by NMR and UV/Vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. These compounds possess an unusual μ4 -η1 :η1 :η1 :η1 coordination mode for the bridging organic fragment, enforced by the rigid and dinucleating nature of the ligand utilized. Thus, the central π system remains unperturbed and accessible for subsequent reactivity and modification. This has been corroborated by addition of a fifth copper atom, giving rise to a pentacopper acetylide complex. This work may provide a new approach by which metal-metal cooperativity can be exploited in the transformation of acetylide and diyne groups to a variety of substrates, or as a starting point for the controlled synthesis of copper(I) alkyne-containing clusters.

Abstract
Bisborylalkanes play important roles in organic synthesis as versatile bifunctional reagents. The two boron moieties in these compounds can be selectively converted into other functional groups through cross-coupling, oxidation or radical reactions. Thus, the development of efficient methods for synthesizing bisborylalkanes is highly demanded. Herein we report a new strategy to access bisborylalkanes through the reaction of N-trisylhydrazones with diboronate, in which the bis(boryl) methane is transformed into 1,2-bis(boronates) via formal carbene insertion. Since the N-trisylhydrazones can be readily derived from the corresponding aldehydes, this strategy represents a practical synthesis of 1,2-diboronates with broad substrate scope. Mechanistic studies reveal an unusual neighboring group effect of 1,1-bis(boronates), which accounts for the observed regioselectivity when unsymmetric 1,1-diboronates are applied.

Abstract
Conjugate addition of α-boron-stabilized carbanions is an underexplored reaction modality. Existing methods require deborylation of geminal di-/triboryl alkanes and/or the presence of additional activating groups. We report the 1,4-addition of α,α-diboryl carbanions generated via deprotonation of the corresponding geminal diborons. The methodology provided a general route to highly substituted and synthetically useful γ,γ-diboryl ketones. The development of geminal diborons as soft pronucleophiles also enabled their use as acyl anion equivalents via a one-pot tandem conjugate addition-oxidation sequence.

Abstract
Copper boryl species have been widely invoked as reactive intermediates in Cu-catalysed C–H borylation reactions, but their isolation and study have been challenging. Use of the robust dinucleating ligand DPFN (2,7-bis(fluoro-di(2-pyridyl)methyl)-1,8-naphthyridine) allowed for the isolation of two very thermally stable dicopper(i) boryl complexes, [(DPFN)Cu2(μ-Bpin)][NTf2] (2) and [(DPFN)Cu2(μ-Bcat)][NTf2] (4) (pin = 2,3-dimethylbutane-2,3-diol; cat = benzene-1,2-diol). These complexes were prepared by cleavage of the corresponding diborane via reaction with the alkoxide [(DPFN)Cu2(μ-OtBu)][NTf2] (3). Reactivity studies illustrated the exceptional stability of these boryl complexes (thermal stability in solution up to 100 °C) and their role in the activation of C(sp)–H bonds. X-ray diffraction and computational studies provide a detailed description of the bonding and electronic structures in these complexes, and suggest that the dinucleating character of the naphthyridine-based ligand is largely responsible for their remarkable stability. Cu(i) boryl species have been widely invoked as reactive intermediates in Cu-catalysed C–H borylations, but their isolation has been challenging. In this work, thermally robust dicopper(I) boryl complexes have been synthesized and studied in detail.![]()

Abstract
Recent years have witnessed an increase in the popularity of α-boryl organometallic reagents as versatile nucleophiles in asymmetric synthesis. These compounds have been adopted in chemo- and stereoselective coupling reactions with a number of different electrophiles. The resulting enantioenriched boronic esters can be applied in stereospecific carbon-carbon or carbon-heteroatom bond construction reactions, enabling a two-step strategy for the construction of complex structures with high efficiency and functional group compatibility. Due to these reasons, tremendous effort has been devoted to the preparation of enantiomerically enriched α-boryl organometallic reagents and to the development of stereoselective reactions of related racemic or prochiral materials. In this review, we describe the enantio- or diastereoselective reactions that involve α-boryl organometallic reagents as starting materials or products and we showcase their synthetic utility.

Abstract
An iridium-catalyzed enantioconvergent coupling of the versatile boron-stabilized organozinc reagent BpinCH2ZnI with a racemic branched allylic carbonate has been developed here, which differs from our previous work by using 1,1-bisborylmethane through the kinetic resolution process. The reaction has a broad substrate scope, and various chiral homoallylic organoboronic esters could be obtained in good yields with excellent enantioselectivities. The synthetic practicability of the products was demonstrated by their conversion to other useful families of compounds.
