Abstract
The family of Mn-based organic-inorganic hybrids has greatly expanded due to their advantages in applications. They also show superior bright and size-tunable photoluminescence and can be considered a perfect alternative to toxic lead-based compounds. In this work, we present the detailed structural, optical, and electrical characterization of ([(NH3CH2CH2)3NH])2[MnBr5]Br5. The title compound exhibits a unique type of inorganic arrangement created by the trigonal bipyramids. It crystallizes in noncentrosymmetric space group R32, indicating its optical activity, piezoelectricity, and second-order optical nonlinearity proven by the second harmonic of light measurements. The studied crystals exhibit intense photoluminescence originating from the Mn(II) ion 4T1(G) → 6A1 transition. The measured lifetime of the photoluminescence emission is ≤1.5 ms, while the measured quantum yield for both powder and crystal samples reaches ∼70%.

Abstract
Herein, we report a near-room-temperature nonlinear optical (NLO) switch material, [Ag(NH3)2]2SO4, exhibiting switching performance with strong room-temperature second harmonic generation (SHG) intensity that outperforms the UV-vis spectral region industry standard KH2PO4 (1.4 times stronger). [Ag(NH3)2]2SO4 undergoes a reversible phase transition (T c = 356 K) from the noncentrosymmetric room-temperature phase (P4̅21 c, RTP) to a centrosymmetric high-temperature phase (I4/mmm, HTP) where both the SO4 2- anions and [Ag(NH3)2]+ cations are highly disordered. The weakening of hydrogen bond interactions in the HTP is also evidenced by the lower energy shift of the stretching vibration of the N-H···O bonds revealed by the in situ FT-IR spectra. Such weakening leads to an unusual negative thermal expansion along the c axis (-3%). In addition, both the atomic displacement parameters of the single-crystal diffraction data and the molecular dynamics-simulated mean squared displacements suggest the motions of the O and N atoms. Such a structural disorder not only hinders the phonon propagation and dramatically drops the thermal conductivity to 0.22 W m-1 K-1 at 361 K but also significantly weakens the optical anisotropy and SHG as verified by the DFT theoretical studies.

Abstract
Organic-inorganic hybrid phase transition materials with switchable properties have important potential applications in smart devices such as dielectric switches and storage. Nevertheless, it remains challenging to modify molecular structures efficiently to obtain materials simultaneously possessing multiple responsive properties. Herein, different from ordinary halogen substitutions in Metal Halide, we report a halogen regulation design of organic molecular strategy: (ASD) 2 MnBr 4 (ASD=5-azonia-spiro [4.5] decane) to (CASD) 2 MnBr 4 (CASD=8-chloro-5-azonia-spiro [4.5] decane). After organic molecular halogen regulation, the SHG response was excited and the dielectric phase transition temperature ( T c ) has also been greatly improved. Furthermore, under the irradiation of UV lamp, both showed green light with quantum yields above 50%. This work is of great significance for further exploration of multifunctional molecular switch materials through halogen modification strategies.

Abstract
Zero-dimensional (0D) hybrid manganese halides have been recently synthesized and exhibited rich functional properties including fluorescence, ferroelectrics, and ferromagnetism. However, few studies on second-harmonic generation (SHG) behaviors of manganese halide crystals have been reported, presumably owing to the d-d transitions. Here, we report three manganese bromides, [TEA]2MnBr4 (TEA+ = tetraethylammonium; 1), [BTEA]2MnBr4 (BTEA+ = benzyltriethylammonium; 2), and [BTMA]2MnBr4 (BTMA+= benzyltrimethylammonium; 3), with linear and nonlinear optical properties via benzyl or ethyl/methyl substitution strategies. They feature 0D structures containing isolated [MnBr4]2- anions and quaternary ammonium cations with different sizes inserted for charge balance. They all show green phosphorescence, and 2 possesses good luminescence efficiency with a quantum yield of 97.8%, which is larger than those of 1 (79%) and 3 (72%). Specifically, acentric 1 and 3 present effective SHG responses about 0.48 and 0.59 times that of KDP, respectively. The result throws light on the new properties of the hybrid manganese halides and provides a new way to develop novel nonlinear optical-active organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides.

Abstract
Multifunctional materials have always been an attractive research area, but how to combine multiple excellent properties in one compound remains a considerable challenge. Organic-inorganic hybrid compounds are widely used in the design of such materials due to their rich properties and flexible assembly. Herein, two new manganese(II)-based organic-inorganic hybrid compounds, (C6NH16)2MnBr4 (1) and (C7NH18)2MnBr4 (2), are prepared by the solution method. Compounds 1 and 2 both emit extremely strong green light under UV excitation, with high quantum yields of 45.93 and 50.98%, respectively. In addition, reversible solid-state phase transitions and obvious switchable dielectric properties are shown at 378/366 and 361/352 K, respectively. The coexistence of the dual stimulus-response characteristics of temperature and light in compounds 1 and 2 opens a new path for exploring more multifunctional phase transition materials.

Abstract
Low-dimensional organic-inorganic metal halides, especially lead-free perovskites, are attracting increasing attention because of their environmentally friendly processing, flexible structures, chemical stability, and promising nonlinear optical properties. Herein, we report a new stable polar 0D lead-free hybrid bismuth chloride to enable the second-harmonic generation (SHG) active material (BTA)3Bi2Cl9 (BTA = benzyltriethylammonium, C6H5CH2N(C2H5)3+) that was obtained by the antisolvent vapor diffusion method and crystallized in the polar Cc space group. Its structure features organic cations surrounded by face-sharing [Bi2Cl9]3- dimers. (BTA)3Bi2Cl9 exhibits a wide direct bandgap (3.21 eV) and a strong phase-matchable SHG conversion efficiency (1.39 × KDP). Theoretical calculation reveals that the SHG response is owing to the synergistic effect of distorted inorganic [Bi2Cl9]3- anions and polar organic BTA+ cations. This work not only enriches the family of organic-inorganic A3M2X9 (A = monovalent cations; M = trivalent metal ions; and X = halide ions) NLO crystals but also provides the possibilities for further designing novel lead-free semiconducting piezoelectric, pyroelectric and ferroelectric materials.

Abstract
Multifunctional switching materials show great potential for applications in sensors, smart switches, and other fields due to their ability to integrate different physical channels in one single device. However, multifunctional responsive materials with multiple switching and luminescence properties have rarely been reported. Here, we report three organic-inorganic hybrids: [TMAA]2[CoCl4] (compound 1), [TMAA]2[CdBr4] (compound 2) and [TMAA]2[MnCl4] (compound 3). Compound 1 and compound 2 undergo two reversible phase transitions at high temperature (328.95/359.25 K and 350.45/393.15 K, respectively). Since the inorganic skeleton has a strong influence on the luminescence properties of such structured substances, Cd and Co were replaced with Mn, after which compound 3 was obtained as expected. The above strategy triggered bright green luminescence with a quantum yield of 35.19%, and significantly increased the phase transition temperature of compound 3 to above 400 K. The above results show that the regulation of the inorganic skeleton provides a new strategy for researchers to develop dual phase change/luminous materials.

By replacing [PF6]− with the larger [TFSA]−, the phase transition temperature is increased from 305 K to 342 K in a host–guest inclusion ferroelastic crystal, [(3,4-DFA)(18-crown-6)][TFSA], which can realize dual-channel (thermal and stress) control of ferroelastic domains.
