g-C3N4-modified Zr-Fc MOFs as a novel photocatalysis-self-Fenton system toward the direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol

Selective hydroxylation of benzene to phenol via CuII(μ-O˙)CuII intermediate using a nonsymmetric dicopper catalyst

The one-step oxidation of benzene to phenol represents a significant and promising advancement in modern industries focused on the production of high-value-added chemical products. Nevertheless, challenges persist in achieving sufficient catalytic selectivity and preventing over-oxidation. Inspired by copper enzymes, we present a nonsymmetric dicopper complex ([CuII2(TPMAN)(μ-OH)(H2O)]3+, 1) for the selective oxidation of benzene to phenol. Utilizing H2O2 as the oxidant, complex 1 demonstrates remarkable catalytic activity (a TON of 14 000 within 29 hours) and selectivity exceeding 97%, comparable to the finest homogeneous catalyst derived from first-row transition metals. It is noteworthy that the significant substituent effect, alongside a negligible kinetic isotope effect (KIE = 1.05), radical trapping experiments, and an inconsistent standard selectivity test of the ˙OH radicals, all contradict the conventional Fenton mechanism and rebound pathway. Theoretical investigations indicate that the active CuII(μ-O˙)CuII-OH species generated through the cleavage of the O-O bond in the CuII(μ-1,1-OOH)CuI intermediate facilitates the hydroxylation of benzene via an electrophilic attack mechanism. The nonsymmetric coordination geometry is crucial in activating H2O2 and in the process of O-O bond cleavage.

Tailored Porous Ferrocene-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks as High-Performance Proton Conductors

Although crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained a great deal of interest in the field of proton conduction in recent years, the low stability and poor proton conductivity (σ) of some MOFs have hindered their future applications. As a result, resolving the issues listed above must be prioritized. Due to their exceptional structural stability, MOFs with ferrocene groups that exhibit particular physical and chemical properties have drawn a lot of attention. This study describes the effective preparation of a set of three-dimensional ferrocene-based MOFs, MIL-53-FcDC-Al/Ga and CAU-43, containing both main group metals and 1,1'-ferrocene dicarboxylic acid (H2FcDC). Multiple measurements, including powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), infrared (IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), confirmed that the addition of ferrocene groups enhanced the thermal, water, and acid-base stabilities of the three MOFs. Consequently, their proton-conductive behaviors were meticulously measured utilizing the AC impedance approach, and their best proton conductivities are 5.20 × 10-3, 2.31 × 10-3, and 1.72 × 10-4 S/cm at 100 °C/98% relative humidity (RH), respectively. Excitingly, MIL-53-FcDC-Al/Ga demonstrated an extraordinarily ultrahigh σ of above 10-4 S·cm-1 under 30 °C/98% RH. Using data from structural analysis, PXRD, SEM, thermogravimetry (TG), and activation energy, their proton transport mechanisms were thoroughly examined. The fact that these MOFs are notably easy to assemble, inexpensive, toxin-free, and stable will increase the range of practical uses for them.

All-inorganic lead halide perovskites for photocatalysis: a review

Nowadays, environmental pollution and the energy crisis are two significant concerns in the world, and photocatalysis is seen as a key solution to these issues. All-inorganic lead halide perovskites have been extensively utilized in photocatalysis and have become one of the most promising materials in recent years. The superior performance of all-inorganic lead halide perovskites distinguish them from other photocatalysts. Since pure lead halide perovskites typically have shortcomings, such as low stability, poor active sites, and ineffective carrier extraction, that restrict their use in photocatalytic reactions, it is crucial to enhance their photocatalytic activity and stability. Huge progress has been made to deal with these critical issues to enhance the effects of all-inorganic lead halide perovskites as efficient photocatalysts in a wide range of applications. In this manuscript, the synthesis methods of all-inorganic lead halide perovskites are discussed, and promising strategies are proposed for superior photocatalytic performance. Moreover, the research progress of photocatalysis applications are summarized; finally, the issues of all-inorganic lead halide perovskite photocatalytic materials at the current state and future research directions are also analyzed and discussed. We hope that this manuscript will provide novel insights to researchers to further promote the research on photocatalysis based on all-inorganic lead halide perovskites.
