Endovascular repair of a pseudoaneurysm of the abdominal aorta secondary to translumbar aortography

This report describes an incidental finding of a pseudoaneurysm of the abdominal aorta on a computed tomography (CT) renal angiogram during investigation of chronic renal failure in a 73-year-old man. The patient had undergone a translumbar aortogram 20 years previously. An increase in the size of the aneurysm by 7 mm over 6 months prompted treatment and the aneurysm underwent successful endovascular repair with a custom-made stent-graft.

Intravenous digital subtraction angiography. Collateral circulation to 'empty leg'

Among 60 patients with uni- or bilateral occlusion of the common or external iliac arteries or both, 12 patients had collateral blood supply originating from the internal mammary or lateral thoracic arteries, or both. By means of intravenous digital subtraction angiography the thoracic arterial pathways and the non-occluded arteries of both legs, simultaneously, were easily demonstrated using the 30 cm effective field size of a Sirecon 33 triplex N image intensifier.

Detection of retroperitoneal hemorrhage after translumbar aortography by computerized tomography

Thirty-seven patients were examined by CT scan within 24 hours of translumbar aortography. Eighteen of them had signs of hemorrhage, of which psoas asymmetry was the most common. Para-aortic densities and obliteration of the aorta were the next most frequent manifestations. CT scanning can be a useful tool in selected cases to detect or follow hemorrhage after aortography by the translumbar approach.
