Abstract
Ionic liquids are remarkable chemical compounds, which find applications in many areas of modern science. Because of their highly tunable nature and exceptional properties, ionic liquids have become essential players in the fields of synthesis and catalysis, extraction, electrochemistry, analytics, biotechnology, etc. Apart from physical and chemical features of ionic liquids, their high biological activity has been attracting significant attention from biochemists, ecologists, and medical scientists. This Review is dedicated to biological activities of ionic liquids, with a special emphasis on their potential employment in pharmaceutics and medicine. The accumulated data on the biological activity of ionic liquids, including their antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties, are discussed in view of possible applications in drug synthesis and drug delivery systems. Dedicated attention is given to a novel active pharmaceutical ingredient-ionic liquid (API-IL) concept, which suggests using traditional drugs in the form of ionic liquid species. The main aim of this Review is to attract a broad audience of chemical, biological, and medical scientists to study advantages of ionic liquid pharmaceutics. Overall, the discussed data highlight the importance of the research direction defined as "Ioliomics", studies of ions in liquids in modern chemistry, biology, and medicine.

Abstract
The ability of ionic liquids (ILs) to support amphiphile self-assembly into a range of mesophase structures has been established as a widespread phenomenon. From the ILs evaluated as self-assembly media, the vast majority have supported some lyotropic liquid crystal phase formation. Many neat ionic liquids have been shown to segregate into polar and non-polar domains to form a nanostructured liquid. A very strong correlation between the nanostructure of the ionic liquid and its characteristics as an amphiphile self-assembly solvent has been found. In this review we discuss ionic liquids as amphiphile self-assembly media, and identify trends that can be used to distinguish which ionic liquids are likely to have good promotion properties as self-assembly media. In particular these trends focus on the nanostructure of neat ionic liquids, their solvent cohesive energy density, and the related solvophobic effect. We forecast that many more ILs will be identified as amphiphile self-assembly solvents in the future.

Abstract
1-Ethyl-3-Methylimidazolium lactate ([EMIM][LAC]) is an environmental friendly ionic liquid with potential industrial applications. Attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations were employed to investigate the molecular interactions between methanol and [EMIM][LAC]. The infrared spectra were analyzed by two methods: excess spectroscopy and two-dimensional (2D) correlation spectroscopy. In the ATR-FTIR spectra, v(C4,5–H), v(C2–H), v(alkyl), v(–OD), and v(–COO) all show blue shifts upon addition of methanol. 2D correlation analysis indicated that the v(imidazolium ring C–H) band varies before that of v(alkyl C–H) with increasing CD3OD content. The following sequential order of interaction strength is established by DFT calculations: EMIM–methanol –LAC > EMIM–LAC > LAC–methanol > EMIM–methanol.

Abstract
Abstract
In this contribution, an insight into the interactions between 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Bmim]BF4) and water/ethanol was offered using the Near-infrared (NIR) technique. It was found that the supermolecular structure of aqueous [Bmim]BF4 solution was destroyed as mole fraction of water surpasses 0.3979. The addition of ethanol is not favorable for water molecules to interacting with C2-H because of the competence of C2-H · · · O interactions with ethanol molecules, as well as the strong hydrogen-bond interactions between the BF4
− and the hydroxyls of the ethanol. Additionally, the most important is that both water and ethanol prefer to form hydrogen bonds with the proton H2 on imidazolium ring, rather than H4 and H5. These information would have important directive significance for studying the aggregation behavior and the structural organization of ILs in molecular solvents.
