Abstract
The T1 excited state relaxation in thiophosgene has attracted much attention as a relatively simple model for the intersystem crossing (ISC) transitions in polyatomic molecules. The very short (20-40 ps) T1 lifetime predicted in several theoretical studies strongly disagrees with the experimental values (∼20 ns) indicating that the kinetics of T1 → S0 ISC is not well understood. We use the nonadiabatic transition state theory (NA-TST) with the Zhu-Nakamura transition probability and the multireference perturbation theory (CASPT2) to show that the T1 → S0 ISC occurs in the quantum tunneling regime. We also introduce a new zero-point vibrational energy correction scheme that improves the accuracy of the predicted ISC rate constants at low internal energies. The predicted lifetimes of the T1 vibrational states are between one and two orders of magnitude larger than the experimental values. This overestimation is attributed to the multidimensional nature of quantum tunneling that facilitates ISC transitions along the non-minimum energy path and is not accounted for in the one-dimensional NA-TST.

Abstract
In this work we present a full 6D quartic potential energy surface (PES) for S0 thiophosgene in curvilinear symmetrized bond-angle coordinates. The PES was refined starting from an ab initio field derived from acc-pVTZ basis set with CCSD(T) corrections for electron correlation. In the present calculations we used our variational method that was recently tested on formaldehyde and some of its isotopomers, along with additional improvements. The lower experimentally known vibrational levels for 35Cl2CS were reproduced quite well in the calculations, which can be regarded as a test for the feasibility of the obtained quartic PES.

Abstract
We perform converged high precision variational calculations to determine the frequencies of a large number of vibrational levels in S(0) D(2)CO, extending from low to very high excess vibrational energies. For the calculations we use our specific vibrational method (recently employed for studies on H(2)CO), consisting of a combination of a search/selection algorithm and a Lanczos iteration procedure. Using the same method we perform large scale converged calculations on the vibrational level spectral structure and fragmentation at selected highly excited overtone states, up to excess vibrational energies of ∼17,000 cm(-1), in order to study the characteristics of intramolecular vibrational redistribution (IVR), vibrational level density and mode selectivity.

Abstract
A reformulation of a semiclassical theory that presently seems uniquely capable of interpreting generic complex multiresonant vibrational spectra is presented. Once given the spectroscopic Hamiltonian which reveals the set of possible resonant couplings and its eigenstates, the new and old formulations both yield without any further computation level by level dynamical assignments for the spectra. Computing a simple trajectory in phase space reveals the motions that when quantized yield the assigned levels. The reformulation introduces two new projected representations of the wave functions. The first is in action space and the second in angle space. The projected representations often allow the reduced angle space, where nodal searches are made, to be of lower dimension than formally occurred. In addition the action representation is a similarly lower dimension lattice representation whose discreteness and regularity allow higher reduced dimensions to be studied. The lattice representation is used to produce a significantly more complete and detailed assignment of the thiophosgene spectrum than previously published.
