Abstract
OBJECTIVE to identify and describe trajectories of change in general psychopathology (p) levels among depressed adolescents who received one of three types of short-term therapies (namely Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Short-Term Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and a Brief Psychosocial Intervention). METHOD Participants were 465 adolescents with MDD who participated in an RCT comparing three treatments for depression. Narrow-band measures of depression, anxiety, obsessions-compulsions, and conduct problems were assessed at six-time points, and bifactor analysis was performed to extract p factor scores. These scores were submitted to Latent Class Growth Analyses to identify patterns of change over time. RESULTS Three different trajectories of change in p were identified. Two trajectories displayed reductions in p across time-points: one a rapid decrease, and the other slower but steady improvement. The third trajectory indicated a limited decrease in p up until the 12th week after baseline but no further improvement at subsequent time-points. Patients' baseline p significantly predicted their outcome trajectories. CONCLUSION Exploring change in p seemed to describe more parsimoniously the patients' outcomes than the narrow-band assessment of depressive symptoms. Patients with high baseline p were more likely to have poorer outcomes, potentially indicating a need to develop more intensive and tailored treatments for this population.

Abstract
Despite a rich theoretical and clinical history, psychodynamic child and adolescent psychotherapy has been slow to engage in the empirical assessment of its effectiveness. This systematic review aims to provide a narrative synthesis of the evidence base for psychodynamic therapy with children and adolescents. Building on two earlier systematic reviews, which covered the period up to 2017, the current study involved two stages: an updated literature search, covering the period between January 2017 and May 2020, and a narrative synthesis of these new studies with those identified in the earlier reviews. The updated search identified 37 papers (28 distinct studies). When combined with papers identified in the earlier systematic reviews, this resulted in a combined total of 123 papers (82 distinct studies). The narrative synthesis of findings indicates that there is evidence of effectiveness for psychodynamic therapy in treating a wide range of mental health difficulties in children and adolescents. The evidence suggests this approach may be especially effective for internalizing disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as in the treatment of emerging personality disorders and in the treatment of children who have experience of adversity. Both the quality and quantity of empirical papers in this field has increased over time. However, much of the research demonstrates a range of methodological limitations (small sample sizes, lack of control groups etc.), and only 22 studies were Randomized Controlled Trials. Further high-quality research is needed in order to better understand the effectiveness of psychodynamic psychotherapy for children and young people.

Abstract
Objective Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) was proved to play an important role in numerous neurodevelopmental processes. In our study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between the NRG1 gene polymorphism and the cognitive function of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) complicated with post‐traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) before and after the psychological intervention. Methods Mini‐mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA) were used for cognitive function assessment. Serum level of NRG1 was detected by ELISA, and the correlation between NRG1 level and cognitive function was analyzed. The difference of cognitive function score of patients with HCC complicated with PTSD before and after psychological intervention was compared, and the relationship between rs35753505 and rs3924999 polymorphism with the score was analyzed. Results Patients with HCC complicated with PTSD showed decreased serum NRG1 level. NRG1 levels of patients in the HCC + PTSD group were positively correlated with MMSE, MoCA, and LOTCA scores. In rs35753505, the CC genotype was a risk factor for the occurrence of PTSD in patients with HCC, while in rs3924999, the GG genotype was a risk factor for the occurrence of PTSD in patients with HCC. After psychological intervention, the CC genotype at rs35753505 and the GG genotype at rs3924999 were susceptible genotypes. Conclusion CC genotype at rs35753505 and GG genotype at rs3924999 of NRG1 gene increased the risk of PTSD in patients with HCC. CC and GG genotypes were susceptible after psychological intervention.

Abstract
Adolescence is a time of significant change with social, cognitive, and emotional alternations, and growth of autonomy and identity. This is a single clinical case study that uses long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy with an adolescent female diagnosed with comorbid social anxiety and persistent depression. The treatment initially focused on addressing the patient’s self-esteem, perfectionism, and self-criticism. During the treatment it was revealed that the patient’s sexual and gender identity contributed to social anxiety and depressive symptoms, and the therapy conceptualized the role of these identities as contributing to social discomfort which perpetuated her depressive symptoms. Through accepting her budding sexual and gender identity, the patient successfully became more comfortable in social settings which ultimately alleviated her depressive symptoms. This treatment highlights the unique nature of working with an adolescent apart of the sexual and gender minority, and how these identities contributed to her experience of social anxiety and depression.

Abstract
Abstract The aim of this paper is to present the Brazilian version of the instrument APQ (Adolescent Psychotherapy Q-Set), including its translation and initial adaptation, followed by the construction of psychotherapy prototypes for psychoanalytic and cognitivebehavioral approaches. A total of 10 psychoanalytic and 10 cognitive-behavioral therapists were asked to classify the APQ items in relation to relevance to their theoretical model. Data were analyzed with factor analysis. The extraction of two factors explained 48.07% of the total variance. The Cronbach’s alpha for the psychoanalytic factor was 0.85 and for the cognitive-behavioral factor, 0.86. The former presented factor loadings ranging from .61 to .73, whilst the latter from .49 to 80. The prototypes were developed through linear regression calculations of each APQ item’s contribution to each of the factors. It was observed that the two prototypes adequately discriminated psychoanalytic and cognitive behavioral approaches, indicating that the APQ is an appropriate tool for research in psychotherapy.

Abstract
This naturalistic study examined the outcome of psychodynamic psychotherapy with 218 adolescents and young adults aged 14-24 years. Analysis of variance showed significant improvement of general functioning on Children's Global Assessment Scale (CGAS) and Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) and decreased symptom severity on Symptoms Checklist-90 (SCL-90) upon completion of psychotherapy, as well as a clinically significant improvement in a large percentage of cases. Effect sizes were equivalent to those evident in a clinical comparison group and larger than in prior research. The main limitation of this study was the lack of a control group, partially compensated for through the use of comparison groups and high external validity. The study seeks to fill a gap in an important yet overlooked field of research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mental health outcome measures are used to monitor the quality and effectiveness of mental health services. There is also a growing expectation for implementation of routine measurement and measures being used by clinicians as a feedback monitoring system to improve client outcomes. The recent focus in Australia and elsewhere targeting mental health services to young people aged 12-25 years has meant that outcome measures relevant to this age range are now needed. This is a shift from the traditional divide of child and adolescent services versus adult services with a transitioning age at 18 years. This systematic review is the first to examine mental health outcome measures that are appropriate for the 12 to 25 year age range. METHODS MEDLINE and PsychINFO databases were systematically searched to identify studies using mental health outcome measures with young people aged 12 to 25 years. The search strategy complied with the relevant sections of the PRISMA statement. RESULTS A total of 184 published articles were identified, covering 29 different outcome measures. The measures were organised into domains that consisted of eight measures of cognition and emotion, nine functioning measures, six quality of life measures, and six multidimensional mental health measures. No measures were designed specifically for young people aged 12 to 25 years and only two had been used by clinicians as a feedback monitoring system. Five measures had been used across the whole 12 to 25 year age range, in a range of mental health settings and were deemed most appropriate for this age group. CONCLUSIONS With changes to mental health service systems that increasingly focus on early intervention in adolescence and young adulthood, there is a need for outcome measures designed specifically for those aged 12 to 25 years. In particular, multidimensional measures that are clinically meaningful need to be developed to ensure quality and effectiveness in youth mental health. Additionally, outcome measures can be clinically useful when designed to be used within routine feedback monitoring systems.

Abstract
This article reviews outcomes of psychodynamic psychotherapy (PP) for children and adolescents reported in articles identified by a comprehensive review of the literature on treatment evaluations of psychological and medical interventions for mental disorders in pediatric populations. The review identified 48 reports based on 33 studies. While there is evidence of substantial clinical gains associated with PP, in almost all the studies, when contrasted with family-based interventions, PP fares no better and appears to produce outcomes with some delay relative to family-based therapies. Further rigorous evaluations are needed, but evidence to date suggests that the context in which PP is delivered should be extended from the traditional context of individual therapy and parents should be included in the treatment of children.

Abstract
UNLABELLED The present study examined changes in the rigidity of interpersonal patterns and symptoms in adolescents (ages 15-18) in a year-long psychodynamic psychotherapy. Seventy-two adolescents (30 in treatment and 42 in a non-treatment "community group") underwent Relationship Anecdote Paradigm (RAP) interviews according to the Core Conflictual Relationship Theme method (CCRT; Luborsky & Crits-Christoph, 1998), and completed outcome measures at two time points. RESULTS Adolescents in the treatment group became less rigid in their interpersonal patterns and improved significantly in their symptoms, whereas no such changes were observed in the community group. Levels of rigidity were not related to initial symptom distress; however, changes in rigidity were related to improvement in symptoms within the treatment group.
