Abstract
The necessity of routinely placing closed suction wound drainage in spinal surgery has been questioned. This study aims to assess if closed suction wound drainage is necessary for posterior atlantoaxial fixation via intermuscular approach. The functional outcomes of these 40 patients who underwent posterior atlantoaxial fixation via intermuscular approach without drainage tube (Group A) were compared with that of a control group, which consisted of 68 randomly enrolled cases with posterior atlantoaxial fixation via intermuscular approach with drainage tube (Group B). Outcome assessments included American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) scoring grade and Visual Analog Scale Score for Neck Pain (VASSNP). The postoperative analgesic consumption, the incidence of subcutaneous and surrounding ecchymosis and the time of ambulation were compared between two groups. Bone fusion was evaluated through computed tomography (CT) reconstruction. Postoperative paravertebral tissue edema was evaluated by the edema coefficient. The use of drainage tube had no significant influence on the postoperative analgesic consumption, wound ecchymosis, the time of ambulation and paravertebral tissue edema (P > 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the VASSNP and bone fusion rates during the follow-up period between the two groups (P > 0.05). All patients achieved ASIA grade E 3 months after surgery. No complications such as wound infection occurred in either group. Posterior atlantoaxial fixation via intermuscular approach does not necessitate postoperative drainage tube placement if there is no accidental vascular injury or excessive muscle bleeding occurs intraoperatively.

Abstract
In people with haemophilia (PWH), elastic band training is considered an optimal option, even though the literature is scarce. The aim was to evaluate normalized electromyographic amplitude (nEMG), rate of perceived exertion (RPE), pain, tolerability, and possible adverse effects during the knee extension exercise using multiple elastic resistance intensities in PWH. During a single session, 14 severe PWH undergoing prophylactic treatment performed knee extensions without resistance and with different intensity levels of elastic resistance. nEMG was measured for the knee extensors and participants rated their RPE, tolerability and pain intensity after each condition. Patients had to report the possible adverse effects after the session. In most of the cases, an nEMG increase is only evidenced after increasing the resistance by two to three levels. Significant associations were found between RPE and the nEMG (ρ = 0.61), as well as between the elastic resistance level and nEMG (ρ = 0.69) and RPE (ρ = 0.71). All conditions were generally tolerated, without increased pain, and no adverse effects were reported. A wide variety of elastic resistance intensities during the knee extension are safe, tolerated, and do not increase knee pain in the majority of severe PWH undergoing prophylactic treatment.

Abstract
Monitoring of training performance and physical activity has become indispensable these days for athletes. Wireless technologies have started to be widely used in the monitoring of muscle activation, in the sport performance of athletes, and in the examination of training efficiency. The monitorability of performance simultaneously in the process of training is especially a necessity for athletes at the beginner level to carry out healthy training in sports like weightlifting and bodybuilding. For this purpose, a new system consisting of 4 channel wireless wearable SEMG circuit and analysis software has been proposed to detect dynamic muscle contractions and to be used in real-time training performance monitoring and analysis. The analysis software, the Haar wavelet filter with threshold cutting, can provide performance analysis by using the methods of moving RMS and %MVC. The validity of the data obtained from the system was investigated and compared with a biomedical system. In this comparison, 90.95% ± 3.35 for left biceps brachii (BB) and 90.75% ± 3.75 for right BB were obtained. The output of the power and %MVC analysis of the system was tested during the training of the participants at the gym, and the training efficiency was measured as 96.87% ± 2.74.
