Abstract
In this review, user experience (UX) of recent lower limb exoskeletons (LLEs) and its improvement methodologies are investigated. First, statistics based on standardised and custom UX evaluations are presented. It is indicated that, LLE users have positive UX, especially in the aspects of safety, dimension and effectiveness. Further, overall, UX levels of ankle and hip-knee exoskeletons are higher than those of other exoskeleton types; unilateral LLEs have higher mean UX levels than that of the bilateral ones. Then, design practices for improving UX are studied; the focused points are burden reduction and improvement of device fit. The former is achieved through lightweight design and approaches that reduce device's moment of inertia (MOI) at mechanical joints. Works on the latter refer to the endeavours to enhance static and dynamic fit; they mainly rely on the optimisations of human-robot interface (HRS) and endeavours to rectify misalignment of axes of mechanical and anatomic joints, respectively. The following section is control approaches to enhance wearing comfort level; it is mainly focused on adaptive, interaction and compensation-based controls. Finally, existing problems and future directions are stated and prospected respectively.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Effective rehabilitation following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is crucial for enhancing both range of motion (ROM) and functional outcomes. While robotics has demonstrated its potential in various medical contexts, the evidence on its application in TKA rehabilitation is still scarce. The marsi active knee (MAK), a robotic device that has already proven to be safe and beneficial in people with neurological disease, has been tested to facilitate the rehabilitation of TKA patients. OBJECTIVE This study aims to evaluate the safety, patient satisfaction, and clinical impact of integrating the MAK into an early rehabilitation regimen for TKA patients. METHODS The intervention comprised 14 one-hour sessions administered thrice a week, utilizing the MAK within 48 h post-TKA surgery. The rehabilitation sessions incorporated exercises involving passive mobilizations, sit-to-stand transitions, and gait training. Comprehensive data encompassing safety parameters, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes were meticulously collected and analyzed. RESULTS Six participants successfully completed the rehabilitation protocol with the MAK device. Notably, no significant adverse events were documented. Application of the device corresponded to perceptible reductions in self-reported pain levels. Vital signs remained within minimal variance pre- and post-rehabilitation. Participants proficiently engaged in all assisted exercises facilitated by the device, culminating in a high overall satisfaction rating of 4.6 ± 0.5 out of 5. CONCLUSION The findings indicate that the MAK device exhibits a commendable level of safety while obtaining considerable patient satisfaction during the early rehabilitation phase following TKA, suggesting this device may be a reliable adjunct to TKA protocols.

Abstract
In this study, an individualized and stable passive-control lower-limb exoskeleton robot was developed. Users' joint angles and the center of pressure (CoP) of one of their soles were input into a convolutional neural network (CNN)-long short-term memory (LSTM) model to evaluate and adjust the exoskeleton control scheme. The CNN-LSTM model predicted the fitness of the control scheme and output the results to the exoskeleton robot, which modified its control parameters accordingly to enhance walking stability. The sole's CoP had similar trends during normal walking and passive walking with the developed exoskeleton; they-coordinates of the CoPs with and without the exoskeleton had a correlation of 91%. Moreover, electromyography signals from the rectus femoris muscle revealed that it exerted 40% less force when walking with a stable stride length in the developed system than when walking with an unstable stride length. Therefore, the developed lower-limb exoskeleton can be used to assist users in achieving balanced and stable walking with reduced force application. In the future, this exoskeleton can be used by patients with stroke and lower-limb weakness to achieve stable walking.

Abstract
Gait dysfunction (GD) is a common impairment of Parkinson's disease (PD), which negatively impacts patients' quality of life. Among the most recent rehabilitation technologies, a lower-limb powered exoskeleton (LLEXO) arises as a useful instrument for gait training in several neurological conditions, including PD. However, some questions relating to methods of use, achievable results, and usefulness compared to traditional rehabilitation methodologies still require clear answers. Therefore, in this review, we aim to summarise and analyse all the studies that have applied an LLEXO to train gait in PD patients. Literature research on PubMed and Scopus retrieved five articles, comprising 46 PD participants stable on medications (age: 71.7 ± 3.7 years, 24 males, Hoehn and Yahr: 2.1 ± 0.6). Compared to traditional rehabilitation, low-profile lower-limb exoskeleton (lp-LLEXO) training brought major improvements towards walking capacity and gait speed, while there are no clear major benefits regarding the dual-task gait cost index and freezing of gait symptoms. Importantly, the results suggest that lp-LLEXO training is more beneficial for patients with an intermediate-to-severe level of disease severity (Hoehn and Yahr > 2.5). This review could provide a novel framework for implementing LLEXO in clinical practise, highlighting its benefits and limitations towards gait training.

Abstract
People with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) can benefit from progressive high-intensity exercise facilitated with a lower-extremity exoskeleton, but the mechanisms explaining these benefits are unknown. We explored the relationship between exercise intensity progression and memory and gait outcomes in PwPD who performed 8 weeks (2 × per week) of progressive exercise with and without a lower-extremity powered exoskeleton, as the planned exploratory endpoint analysis of an open-label, parallel, pilot randomized controlled trial. Adults 50-85 years old with a confirmed diagnosis of PD participated. Twenty-seven participants randomized to exercise with (Exo = 13) or without (Nxo = 14) the exoskeleton were included in this exploratory endpoint analysis. Detailed exercise logs were kept and actigraphy was used to measure activity count*min-1 (ACPM) during all exercise sessions. Only the Exo group were able to progressively increase their ACPM over the entire 8-week intervention, whereas the Nxo group plateaued after 4 weeks. Exercise intensity progression correlated with change in the memory sub-scale of the SCOPA-COG and change in gait endurance from the 6MWT, consistent with the prevailing hypotheses linking high-intensity interval exercise to improved muscle and brain function via angiogenic and neurotrophic mechanisms. Facilitating high-intensity exercise with advanced rehabilitation technology is warranted for improving memory and gait endurance in PwPD.Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03583879 (7/10/2018).

Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent degenerative joint condition characterized by cartilage deterioration, joint inflammation, and functional limitations, particularly impacting the elderly population. Rehabilitation and hyaluronic acid (HA) injections are common therapeutic approaches routinely used in clinical practice, but their synergistic potential is far from being fully characterized. Thus, the aim of this narrative review was to elucidate the multilevel benefits and synergies of integrating these two approaches in multidisciplinary OA rehabilitation. This narrative review follows the scale for the assessment of narrative review articles (SANRA) criteria and involves a comprehensive literature search from July to August 2023. Two independent reviewers screened studies, including those involving human subjects with OA, rehabilitation strategies, and outcomes following HA injection, published in English. Results: HA injections might improve joint biomechanics, reducing friction, absorbing shocks, and potentially regulating inflammation. Rehabilitation plays a pivotal role in strengthening muscles, increasing the range of motion, and enhancing overall function. Optimizing rehabilitation following HA injection might provide additional benefits in joint health. OA management requires a multidisciplinary approach integrating HA injections, rehabilitation, and personalized care. Challenges in patient adherence and healthcare resources currently exist, but emerging technologies offer opportunities to enhance patient engagement and monitoring optimizing sustainability and outcomes of patients with knee, hip, shoulder, and temporomandibular joint OA.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Chronic conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, vestibular disorders, chronic pain, arthritis, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and heart disease are leading causes of disability among middle-aged and older adults. While evidence-based treatment can optimize clinical outcomes, few people with chronic conditions engage in the recommended levels of exercise for clinical improvement and successful management of their condition. Rehabilitation technologies that can augment therapeutic care-i.e., exoskeletons, virtual/augmented reality, and remote monitoring-offer the opportunity to bring evidence-based rehabilitation into homes. Successful integration of rehabilitation techniques at home could help recovery and access and foster long term self-management. However, widespread uptake of technology in rehabilitation is still limited, leaving many technologies developed but not adopted. METHODS In this narrative review, clinical need, efficacy, and obstacles and suggestions for implementation are discussed. The use of three technologies is reviewed in the management of the most prevalent chronic diseases that utilize rehabilitation services, including common neurological, musculoskeletal, metabolic, pulmonary, and cardiac conditions. The technologies are (i) exoskeletons, (ii) virtual and augmented reality, and (iii) remote monitoring. RESULTS Effectiveness evidence backing the use of technology in rehabilitation is growing but remains limited by high heterogeneity, lack of long-term outcomes, and lack of adoption outcomes. CONCLUSION While rehabilitation technologies bring opportunities to bridge the gap between clinics and homes, there are many challenges with adoption. Hybrid effectiveness and implementation trials are a possible path to successful technology development and adoption.
