Effects of cyclotronic ion resonance on human metabolic processes: a clinical trial and one case report

Low-Frequency Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Is Able to Modulate miRNAs in an Experimental Cell Model of Alzheimer's Disease

The aim of the present study was to investigate on the effects of a low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (LF-PEMF) in an experimental cell model of Alzheimer's disease (AD) to assess new therapies that counteract neurodegeneration. In recent scientific literature, it is documented that the deep brain stimulation via electromagnetic fields (EMFs) modulates the neurophysiological activity of the pathological circuits and produces clinical benefits in AD patients. EMFs are applied for tissue regeneration because of their ability to stimulate cell proliferation and immune functions via the HSP70 protein family. However, the effects of EMFs are still controversial and further investigations are required. Our results demonstrate the ability of our LF-PEMF to modulate gene expression in cell functions that are dysregulated in AD (i.e., BACE1) and that these effects can be modulated with different treatment conditions. Of relevance, we will focus on miRNAs regulating the pathways involved in brain degenerative disorders.

Biophysical approach to low back pain: a pilot report

Since biophysical treatment has been reported to be effective in the general management of pain, we decided to assess the specific effect and treatment duration of this therapeutic strategy in low back pain. We were interested in verifying the possibility that a single clinical procedure could reduce pain and improve patients' quality of life within a period of three months. An Electromagnetic Information Transfer Through Aqueous System was employed to record endogenous therapeutic signals from each individual using an electromagnetic recording device (Med Select 729). A highly significant reduction in the Roland Morris low back pain and disability questionnaire score was observed after 3 months following a single biophysical intervention (11.83 ± 6 at baseline versus 2.3 ± 3.25 at 3 months, p < 0.0001). This preliminary report provides further evidence of the theoretical implications and clinical applications of Quantum Electro Dynamic concepts in biology and medicine.

Combined magnetic fields provide robust coverage for interbody and posterolateral lumbar spinal fusion sites

Electromagnetic fields generated by spinal bone growth stimulation devices have been computationally modelled to determine coverage of the lumbar spinal vertebrae. The underlying assumption of these models was that the electric field, but not the magnetic field, was therapeutically relevant. However, there are no published studies examining the therapeutic coverage of spinal fusion sites by stimulators utilizing combined magnetic fields. To assess the coverage, an anatomical model of the vertebrae and discs of the lumbar spine was developed to represent interbody and posterolateral fusion sites. Computer simulations of the induced electromagnetic fields were analysed to determine coverage of the fusion sites. For both interbody and posterolateral fusion models, combined magnetic fields provided 100 % coverage of the fusion sites for all intervertebral disc spaces and for all posterior planes from L1 to L5, respectively. Within the vertebral column, the magnitude of the electric field reached a maximum value of 3.6 × 10⁻⁴ V/m, which is several orders of magnitude less than any reported study demonstrating a biological effect. Given its clinical efficacy, a bone growth stimulator utilizing combined magnetic fields must rely on the action of its magnetic field rather than its electric field for a therapeutic effect.

Lipid disturbances in psoriasis: an update

Psoriasis is a common disease with the population prevalence ranging from 2% to 3%. Its prevalence in the population is affected by genetic, environmental, viral, infectious, immunological, biochemical, endocrinological, and psychological factors, as well as alcohol and drug abuse. In the recent years, psoriasis has been recognised as a systemic disease associated with numerous multiorgan abnormalities and complications. Dyslipidemia is one of comorbidities in psoriatic patients. Lipid metabolism studies in psoriasis have been started at the beginning of the 20th century and are concentrated on skin surface lipids, stratum corneum lipids and epidermal phospholipids, serum lipids, dermal low-density lipoproteins in the psoriatic skin, lipid metabolism, oxidative stress and correlations between inflammatory parameters, lipid parameters and clinical symptoms of the disease. On the basis of the literature data, psoriasis can be described as an immunometabolic disease.
