Electroanalytical sensors-based biogenic synthesized metal oxide nanoparticles for potentiometric assay of pantoprazole sodium

A green three-ratio manipulating spectrophotometric approaches for the determination of a binary mixture of pantoprazole and domperidone

BACKGROUND

Pantoprazole (PAN) is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat GERD and hyperacidity by suppressing gastric acid secretion, effectively relieving symptoms such as heartburn, acid regurgitation, and indigestion. Domperidone (DOM) is a prokinetic agent that enhances gastrointestinal motility, helping to alleviate nausea, vomiting, and bloating caused by motility disorders. Their combination (Pantosec-D) provides rapid and comprehensive relief from both acid-related and motility-related symptoms, significantly improving patient comfort and quality of life.

OBJECTIVE

This study aims to develop and validate three eco-friendly spectrophotometric techniques-ratio difference (RD), first derivative (1DD), and mean centering (MC) of ratio spectra-for the simultaneous determination of PAN and DOM in pharmaceutical formulations.

METHOD

The proposed methods resolve spectral overlap through ratio spectra manipulation. In the RD method, DOM is quantified by measuring the amplitude difference at 209 nm and 233 nm, while PAN is determined at 254 nm and 223 nm. The 1DD method detects DOM at 215 nm and PAN at 249 nm, whereas the MC method quantifies PAN at 254 nm and DOM at 209 nm.

RESULTS

The suggested methods were validated according to ICH regulations. Pharmaceutical formulations comprising PAN and DOM were effectively analyzed using the linear correlations obtained for both drugs over concentration ranges of 0.5-52 µg/mL and 1-18 µg/mL, respectively.

CONCLUSION

Compared with reported spectrophotometric techniques, ratio methods are especially beneficial for routine pharmaceutical analysis due to their ease of use, capacity for handling overlapping spectra, and robustness to experimental variations. Compared with reported chromatographic methods, these techniques provide easy-to-use, reasonably priced, less solvent, and dependable substitutes for the standard quality control of these medications in pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Functionalized fennel extract-mediated alumina/cerium oxide nanocomposite potentiometric sensor for the determination of diclofenac sodium medication

The current work suggests a new, ultrasensitive green functionalized sensor for the determination of anti-inflammatory medication diclofenac sodium (DCF). Alumina (Al2O3) and cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted great interest for their use as outstanding and electroactive nanocomposite in potentiometric and sensory research due to their ultrafunctional potential. The formed nanoparticles have been confirmed using various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. The fennel extract-mediated Al2O3/CeO2 nanocomposite (Al2O3/CeO2 NCS) modified coated wire membrane sensor developed in this study was used to quantify DCF in bulk and commercial products. Diclofenac sodium was coupled with phosphomolybdic acid (PMA) to generate diclofenac phosphomolybdate (DCF-PM) as an active ion-pair in the existence of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and o-nitrophenyl octyl ether (o-NPOE). Clear peaks at 270, and 303 nm with band gaps of 4.59 eV and 4.09 eV were measured using UV-vis spectroscopy of Al2O3 and CeO2, respectively. The crystallite sizes of the formed nanoparticles were XRD-determined to be 30.13 ± 8, 17.72 ± 3, and 35.8 ± 0.5 nm for Al2O3, CeO2, and Al2O3/CeO2 NCS, respectively. The developed sensor showed excellent response for the measurement and assay of DCF, with a linearity between 1.0 × 10-9 and 1.0 × 10-2 mol L-1. EmV = (57.76) log [DCF] +622.69 was derived. On the other hand, the typical type DCF-PM presented a potentiometric response range of 1.0 × 10-5-1.0 × 10-2 mol L-1 and a regression equation of EmV = (56.97) log [DCF]+367.16. The functionalized sensor that was proposed was successful in determining DCF in its commercial tablets with percent recovery 99.95 ± 0.3. Method validation has been used to improve the suitability of the suggested potentiometric technique, by studying various parameters with respect to the international council harmonization requirements for analytical methodologies.

Potent and Versatile Biogenically Synthesized Alumina/Nickel Oxide Nanocomposite Adsorbent for Defluoridation of Drinking Water

In the present work, an extract of Salvia officinalis leaves was used to synthesize an alumina/NiO nanocomposite by the coprecipitation method. First, the shape and surface content of the synthesized adsorbent were determined. Scanning electron microscopy images showed the production of nanospheres and nanorods with sizes between 35 and 50 nm. X-ray diffraction measurement revealed strong, high-intensity peaks, confirming the preparation of a highly crystalline alumina/nickel oxide nanocomposite. Then, the pure nanoalumina, nickel oxide, and functionalized alumina/nickel oxide nanocomposite for water defluoridation were investigated under various conditions, for example, stirring period, pH, and initial fluoride concentration. Defluoridation with greener alumina, nickel oxide, and alumina/nickel oxide nanocomposite lasted 120 min at adsorbent dosages of 0.8 g/L in a pH 7 solution. The adoption process for the three sorbents matches the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The process dynamics were explored using pseudo-second-order and first-order kinetics. The water quality after treatment met drinking water requirements, proving the viability of using nanoparticles for drinking water defluoridation. This work confirmed effective water defluoridation in the crystalline phase using synthesized nanoalumina, nickel oxide, and their nanocomposite, which highlights their importance for future drinking water defluoridation.
