Abstract
Objective The Covid -19 pandemic has had a major influence on the organization of cancer care. Little is known about how patients with cancer and their relatives experienced this period. This study explored these experiences and levels of distress and resilience of Dutch cancer patients and their family caregivers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods The qualitative design included in-depth interviews with cancer patients and their family caregivers to explore their experiences. The distress thermometer (NCCN-DT) and resilience questionnaire (CD-RISC2) were used for contextualizing. Data were analyzed by thematic analysis and descriptive statistics. Results 40 patients with breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, or melanoma who received active systemic anti-cancer therapy, were included with a median age of 60 years[SD11.1]. We also included fourteen family caregivers with a median age of 60 years [SD8.6].Five themes were identified: (1) Living with cancer during Covid-19, (2) Changes in cancer care, (3) Information and support, (4) Safety inside the hospital, and (5) Impact of vaccination. The mean score of NCCN-DT was 2.9[SD2.4] for patients and 4.3[SD2.7] for family caregivers. Mean score of CD-RISC2 was 6.6[SD1.4] for patients and 7.2[SD1] for family caregivers. Conclusions Patients felt vulnerable during the pandemic and were strict in following the safety precautions. The limited companionship of family caregivers was experienced as the biggest restraint. In general, they felt safe inside the hospital. Vaccination brought some relief. Patients were satisfied with the provided support, but areas were identified which are amenable for redesigning care processes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND patients with locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) are often treated by neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). This study aims to determine the prevalence of psychological distress and their sociodemographic and clinical factors in patients recently diagnosed with LABC and before NACT. METHODS A total of 209 LABC patients without metastatic localization were recruited between 2021 and 2022 in the oncology hospital at Fez. A structured questionnaire and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale were used. A descriptive analysis and linear model were performed. RESULTS a mean age of participants was 47.43 ± 9.45 years. The prevalence of depression, anxiety and psychological distress among participants was 59.62% (95% CI: 52.61-33.34), 47.85% (95% CI: 40.91-54.85), and 65.07 (95% CI: 58.19-71.52) respectively. Depression was associated to age (< 50 years) (AOR = 2.19; 95% CI = 1.13-4.23) and health insurance (AOR = 3.64; 95% CI: 1.18-11.26). Anxiety was associated to age (< 50) (AOR = 2.21; 95% CI: 1.18-4.13) and right breast cancer (AOA = 2.01; 95% CI: 1.11-3.65). Psychological distress was associated to chronic illness (AOR = 2.78; 95% CI: 1.32-5.85) and lymph node status (AOR = 2.39; 95% CI: 1.26-4.57). CONCLUSIONS Based on the high prevalence of depression and anxiety it appears opportune to treat psychological distress among LABC patient candidates for NACT. Each psychological intervention should take into account sociodemographic and clinical factors found associated in our study. Psychological therapeutic interventions are crucial for LABC patients as early as the time of diagnosis and through subsequent steps in NACT to improve their overall mental health.

Abstract
Background Glioma diagnosis can be devastating and result in a range of symptoms. Relatively little is known about the long-term health-related quality of life (HRQOL) challenges faced by these patients. Establishing the impact of diagnosis on HRQOL could help positively tailor clinical decision making regarding patient support and treatment. The aim of this review is to identify the long-term HRQOL issues reported at least 2 years following diagnosis of WHO grade II/III glioma. Method Systematic literature searches were carried out using Medline, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Web of Science Core Collection. Searches were designed to identify patient self-reports on HRQOL aspects defined as physical, mental, or social issues. Quality assessment was conducted using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Narrative synthesis was used to collate findings. Results The search returned 8923 articles. Two hundred seventy-eight titles remained after title and abstract screening, with 21 full-text articles included in the final analysis. The majority of studies used quantitative methods, with 3 articles reporting mixed methodology. Negative emotional/psychological/cognitive changes were the most commonly reported. Physical complaints included fatigue, seizures, and restricted daily activity. Social challenges included strained social relationships and financial problems. Patient coping strategies were suggested to influence patient’s survival quality. Conclusion The consequences of a glioma diagnosis and treatment can have substantial implications for patients’ long-term HRQOL and daily functioning. Findings from this review lay the groundwork for efforts to improve patient HRQOL in long-term survivorship.
