Abstract
Objective: College counseling centers (CCCs) have limited capacity to accommodate high-risk students who need more intensive care than traditional outpatient treatment. We describe an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to meet the specialized needs of suicidal undergraduates. Participants: Suicidal undergraduates aged 18-24. Methods: Fact-gathering meetings with local universities confirmed high need for prompt access to IOP care for students presenting in crisis at CCCs and emergency rooms, and post-inpatient discharge. We thus iteratively designed and implemented the College Option Services for Teens at Risk (COSTAR) IOP. Results: The 6-week program includes initial diagnostic evaluation and risk assessment followed by weekly skills groups, individual therapy, and medication management. Between September 2017 and January 2020, 148 students (M age = 19.7) attended an average of 5.7 COSTAR group sessions (SD = 4.7). Conclusions: A specialty IOP for suicidal college students holds promise in a stepped care approach for at-risk college students.

Abstract
This randomized controlled trial compared the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) and Treatment as Usual (TAU) for suicidal college students within a feasibility trial. Sixty-two suicidal college students were randomized to CAMS (n = 33) or TAU (n = 29). We hypothesized that those receiving CAMS would show more improvement in suicide-related measures, and effects would be moderated by borderline personality disorder (BPD), prior suicide attempts, and age. Both treatment groups showed improvements in all outcome variables; CAMS had a significantly higher impact on depression and suicidal ideation when measured weekly during care and was more likely than TAU to decrease hopelessness among students with fewer BPD features, no suicide attempt history, and older age. Conversely, TAU did better for students with BPD features and history of multiple suicide attempts.

Abstract
Suicide risk on college campuses remains a pervasive problem. Structural deficits in current clinical care models often result in sub-optimal treatment for suicidal students. This study reports on the feasibility, acceptability, and utility of the Safety Planning Intervention (SPI), a brief, empirically validated, clinician-administered suicide prevention intervention, in a university counseling center (UCC) setting. A group of 12 university counseling center direct service staff completed a 2-hour training in SPI. Participants reported on suicide intervention practices, training needs, and confidence at baseline and 10 weeks post-training. Acceptability, utility, and frequency of SPI use were assessed at follow-up. All clinical staff attended the training and found it useful, reporting that confidence in managing suicide risk increased as a result. Two-thirds of staff implemented SPI least once. Results suggest that SPI is a feasible, acceptable, and useful suicide intervention tool for UCCs.

Abstract
Transitional age youth with a history of mood disorders, such as major depressive disorder, are uniquely vulnerable to clinical destabilization and relapse in the context of life transition. Moving from a structured adolescence to a more independent and potentially more demanding young adult life can result in worsening symptoms and barriers to effective help-seeking. Transitional age youth newly diagnosed are exposed to their first course of treatment of a potentially chronic condition. This article describes the challenges inherent in navigating this life transition, and also offers strategies to promote a successful "launch" into adulthood.

Abstract
This pilot study investigated the potential to utilize adaptive treatment strategies for treating moderate to severe suicidal risk among college students. This article will describe the unique study design and report on feasibility and acceptability findings. A 2-stage Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomized Trial (SMART) was conducted: In Stage 1, 62 suicidal college students were randomized to either a suicide-focused or a treatment-as-usual condition (4-8 weeks). Those deemed insufficient responders were re-randomized to one of two Stage 2 interventions-both suicide-focused but one comprehensive and multimodal and the other flexible and theoretically agnostic (4-16 additional weeks). Recruitment rates were high, treatment dropout levels were lower than expected for the setting, study dropouts were rare, and counselors were able to deliver suicide-focused approaches with fidelity. Treatment satisfaction was high among clients and moderately high among counselors. Findings from this pilot show that a SMART is highly feasible and acceptable to suicidal college students, counselors, and campuses.
