Abstract
A general study of the design of lenses of double Gauss type and derivatives of these has been carried out, with the lenses optimized at an aperture of f/2 and a field angle of +/-20 degrees . The results indicate that the number of optimized designs is small for all of the constructions that were investigated. Numerical examplesfor several designs are given.
