Abstract
Background Scars are known to negatively impact patients' quality of life or even disable them. A broad spectrum of different scar treatments is used in clinical practice. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and microneedling are promising treatments that enhance tissue regeneration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety, clinical effects, and patients' experience of a combination treatment consisting of a series of PRP plus microneedling. Methods One hundred seven patients with scars, with various etiology and scar age, were included in our study. PRP had been prepared using the ACP double syringe system and was injected with high pressure into the dermis of the affected tissue, using the U225 meso injector as an injection and microneedling device. This treatment was applied three times at four-week intervals. On the days of treatment and at the 4-week follow-up, patient records were collected and clinical investigations and interviews were performed to assess clinical effects, adverse effects, and patient's experience. Results The results of this retrospective study indicate that 23 patients (21.5%) reported softer and more elastic scar tissue, 8 patients (7.5%) experienced improved mobility and functionality, 6 patients (5.6%) showed an overall healthier skin appearance, and 8 (7.5%) patients observed an improvement in color. Adverse effects reported were mild and only temporary. Twenty-three (21.5%) patients felt stressed before the treatment, and 12 patients (11.2%) reported tenderness during the first treatment of which two rated it as mildly painful. After the first treatment, two patients (1.9%) reported transient itchiness. Serious adverse effects did not occur. Conclusions PRP plus microneedling can enhance the pliability, mobility, and color of different scar types and scar ages. Overall, the treatment was easily feasible, well-tolerated and safe. Therefore, it can be considered a promising new treatment modality for scar management.

Abstract
Bacterial resistance and excessive inflammation are common issues that hinder wound healing. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) offer a promising and versatile antibacterial option compared to traditional antibiotics, with additional anti-inflammatory properties. However, the applications of AMPs are limited by their antimicrobial effects and stability against bacterial degradation. TFNAs are regarded as a promising drug delivery platform that could enhance the antibacterial properties and stability of nanodrugs. Therefore, in this study, a composite hydrogel (HAMA/t-GL13K) was prepared via the photocross-linking method, in which tFNAs carry GL13K. The hydrogel was injectable, biocompatible, and could be instantly photocured. It exhibited broad-spectrum antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory factors and scavenging ROS. Thereby, the hydrogel inhibited bacterial infection, shortened the wound healing time of skin defects in infected skin full-thickness defect wound models and reduced scarring. The constructed HAMA/tFNA-AMPs hydrogels exhibit the potential for clinical use in treating microbial infections and promoting wound healing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hypertrophic scars occur when there is an excessive wound-healing response in the skin. Fractional, or fractionated, carbon dioxide (CO₂) laser therapy uses narrow shafts of light to smooth the skin surface and stimulate dermal collagen, which tightens the skin. This case report describes a 57-year-old woman with a traumatic hypertrophic scar of the face treated with fractional carbon dioxide laser therapy. The purpose of this case report was to highlight the role of fractional CO₂ laser therapy in treatment of a facial traumatic hypertrophic scar in a patient after a motor vehicle crash. CASE REPORT A 57-year-old female patient presented with a hypertrophic, rigid, post-traumatic scar on the left side of her face following a motor vehicle crash. For the hypertrophic scar removal, the patient underwent 1 treatment session with fractional CO₂ laser using the µ-Scan DOT scanning system. After 1 laser treatment session, the photographic documentation, which permits monitoring the treatment's effectiveness in esthetic improvement, showed a significant improvement in scar texture and color. In addition, a significant reduction in scar height was observed following laser therapy. Fractional laser treatment with the device was very well tolerated by the patient, who reported no pain or discomfort, complications, or adverse effects either during treatment or in the follow-up period (3 months). CONCLUSIONS This report demonstrates the cosmetic application of fractional carbon dioxide laser therapy in a case of hypertrophic scar with the use of an effective therapeutic protocol that did not require the use of suturing.

Abstract
Introduction Scar massage is a commonly used treatment in hand therapy. The current empirical evidence that supports it is disparate and of variable quality, with no established effective dosage and method proposed. This study aimed to identify the current practice among Australian hand therapists using massage as an intervention for scarring following surgery to the hand and upper limb. Methods A purposely designed self-report online survey was emailed to current members of the Australian Hand Therapy Association (n = 958). Data collected included demographics, intervention techniques, conditions treated and protocols, scar assessment and knowledge and training about scar massage as a clinical intervention. Results A total of 116 completed questionnaires were received (a response rate of 12.1%). All respondents used scar massage as part of their clinical practice with 98% to improve soft tissue glide (n = 114), 92% for hypersensitivity (n = 107), and 84% to increase hand function (n = 97). Only 18% (n = 21) of respondents used standardised outcome measures, and most therapists had learned scar massage from a colleague (81%). Conclusions Commonalities in how respondents implemented scar massage were found. Participants reported relying primarily on clinical experience to inform their practice. Whilst scar massage was widely used, few respondents had received formal skills training or completed outcome measures regularly to formally evaluate its clinical efficacy or impact. Replication of this study with a larger international sample of participants is warranted to determine if these findings reflect general practice.

Abstract
In knee osteoarthritis surgery, managing postoperative wound healing and minimizing scar formation are pivotal for patient recovery and satisfaction. These aspects are particularly challenging due to the nature of the surgical procedure and patient demographics. Physiotherapy interventions are increasingly recognized for their role in improving these postoperative outcomes. This meta-analysis sought to evaluate the efficacy of physiotherapy in enhancing wound healing, as measured by REEDA scores, and reducing scar formation, as indicated by Manchester Scar Scale (MSS) scores, following knee osteoarthritis surgery. Analysing data from eight studies, we found that physiotherapy significantly improved wound healing, evidenced by lower REEDA scores (SMD = -19.58, 95% CI: [-22.49, -16.66], p < 0.01), and reduced scar formation, reflected in lower MSS scores (SMD = -24.79, 95% CI: [-30.03, -19.55], p < 0.01). These findings highlight the crucial role of physiotherapy in postoperative care for knee osteoarthritis patients, emphasizing its impact on enhancing recovery and improving surgical outcomes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Scar adherence due to a pathological healing process can cause physical and psychological disturbance. Soft tissue mobilisation (STM) techniques are widely used to treat and prevent scar adherence, but little is known on their effects. We aimed to analyse the effect of STM in patients with subacute post-surgical scar adhesions affecting the extremities. METHOD A single-group quasi-experimental study was conducted on consecutive patients undergoing post-surgery limb rehabilitation. Patients with a baseline Adhesion Severity (AS) index of <0.5 at the worst scar point, as measured by the Adheremeter, were eligible. All patients who completed a minimum of five manual treatment sessions were included. The primary outcome was the AS index and the secondary outcome was the Italian version of the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scales (POSAS-I). RESULTS A cohort of 19 patients underwent an average of eight STM sessions over a period of one month. The AS index value increased from a median of 0.12 at baseline (interquartile range (IQR): 0.05-0.25) to 0.41 post-treatment (IQR: 0.26-0.63; median change: 0.24; IQR: 0.16-0.40; p<0.001). A large effect size was observed for both AS and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (OSAS-I) (Cohen r=0.6), with a large probability of superiority (PS) (87% and 86%, respectively). A moderate effect was observed for the Patient Scar Assessment Scale (PSAS-I) (Cohen=0.4; PS=71%). Pre-post treatment changes exceeded the minimal detectable changes for the AS and OSAS-I in 68% of subjects, and for PSAS-I in 21% of subjects. CONCLUSION STM manual techniques may produce a large effect on the mobility of adherent subacute post-surgical scars.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is a continuing interest in finding effective methods for scar treatment. Dry needling is gaining popularity in physiotherapy and is defined by Western medicine as a type of acupuncture. The terms acupuncture and dry needling have been used interchangeably so we have focused on the efficacy of dry needling or acupuncture in scar treatment. OBJECTIVE The aim of this systematic review was to determine the usefulness of dry needling or local acupuncture for scar treatment. In our search process, we used the terms 'acupuncture,' 'needling,' or 'dry needling' to identify all relevant scientific papers. We have focused on the practical aspects of local management of different scar types with dry needling or acupuncture. SEARCH STRATEGY The search strategy included different combinations of the following keywords: 'scar', 'keloid', 'dry needling', 'needling', 'acupuncture', 'treatment', 'physical therapy'. This systematic review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. MEDLINE (PubMed, EBSCOHost and Ovid), EMBASE (Elsevier), and Web of Science databases were searched for relevant publications from inception through October 2023. INCLUSION CRITERIA The studies that investigated the effectiveness of dry needling or acupuncture for scar treatment were included. DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS The main extraction data items were: the needling technique; needle: diameter, length; needling locations; manual needling manipulation; number of sessions; settings; outcomes and results. RESULTS As a result of a comprehensive search, 11 manuscripts were included in the systematic review, of which eight were case reports, two were randomized trials and one study concerned case series. Two case reports scored 2-4 out of 8 points on the JBI checklist, five studies scored 5-7, and one study scored 8 points. The methodological quality of the two clinical trials was rated as good or fair on the PEDro scale. The case series study scored 7 of 10 points on the JBI checklist. A meta-analysis was not possible as only two randomized trials, eight case reports, and one case series were eligible for review; also, scar assessment scales and pain severity scales were highly heterogeneous. CONCLUSIONS The studies differed regarding the delivery of dry needling or local acupuncture for scar treatment. Differences included treatment frequency, duration, number of treatments, selection of needle insertion sites, number of needles used, angle of needle placement, and use of manual needling manipulation. Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence synthesis suggests allodynia resulting from neuropathic pain has few interventions with clear effectiveness. As research continues to build this needed evidence base, expert consensus recommendations can address the conflicting approaches within current hand therapy practice. PURPOSE This study aimed to develop consensus recommendations for the clinical management of allodynia from an international panel of hand therapists. STUDY DESIGN This was an international e-Delphi survey study. METHODS We recruited international hand rehabilitation experts to participate in an e-Delphi survey. Consensus was defined as 75% or more of participants agreeing with a recommendation, and at least 3 rounds of consensus building were anticipated. Experts were identified from 21 countries, and clinical vignettes describing a spectrum of patients with painful sensitivity in the hand were provided to elicit treatment recommendations. Initial recommendations were summarized, and consensus sought for clinical practice recommendations. RESULTS Sixty-eight participants were invited, with 44 more added through peer nominations. Fifty-four participants from 19 countries completed the initial survey and were invited to participate in all subsequent rounds. Over 900 treatment suggestions were provided from the initial vignettes across domains, including sensory, physical, and functional interventions, education, and cortical representation techniques: 46 ultimately reached consensus. However, important discrepancies in justification (eg, why allodynia should be covered) and implementation of techniques (eg, desensitization, sensory reeducation) were identified as the consensus exercise progressed. CONCLUSIONS Experts recommend individually tailored programs to treat allodynia using a variety of physical/movement, sensory-based, and "top-down" approaches; this is highly aligned with contemporary theories, such as the Neuromatrix Model of Pain. However, consensus was not reached on the justification and implementation of some of these approaches, reflecting the lack of a taxonomy and supporting evidence for tactile stimulation approaches in the current literature. Trials directly comparing the effectiveness of these approaches are needed.

Abstract
Cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS) is a neuropathic condition characterized by the compression or irritation of the ulnar nerve at the elbow, resulting in a wide spectrum of symptoms ranging from pain and numbness to muscle weakness and impaired hand function. This comprehensive review delves into the diverse landscape of CuTS treatment approaches, emphasizing the importance of early intervention. The review explores how these strategies aim to alleviate symptoms and enhance patient well-being by beginning with conservative measures encompassing rest, splinting, medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle adjustments. Non-surgical medical interventions, including nerve gliding exercises, ultrasound-guided nerve injections, and orthotic devices, are considered alternative therapies for symptom relief. Surgical interventions, such as decompression procedures and emerging techniques, are discussed in detail, highlighting their indications and expected outcomes. Throughout this review, the critical role of patient-centered care is underscored, emphasizing the need for tailored treatment plans that respect individual preferences and goals. Recognizing the unique nature of each CuTS case, shared decision-making between patients and healthcare providers is advocated, ensuring that interventions align with specific patient needs. As research advances, promising developments in diagnosis, surgical techniques, and drug therapies offer hope for more effective management of CuTS, paving the way for improved symptom relief and enhanced nerve function.

Abstract
PURPOSE Management of proximal hypospadias remains challenging. We assessed the results of staged preputial graft repairs (SPG) for proximal hypospadias and hypothesize that post-operative vacuum physiotherapy (VP) improves graft suppleness and overall outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS Retrospective analysis of n = 71 patients with proximal hypospadias and severe ventral penile curvature (PC) of ≥50° after degloving. PC was corrected using ventral transverse incisions of the tunica albuginea (VTITA) without applying a tourniquet, taking care to avoid injuring the underlying erectile tissue. The ventral raw area at the penile shaft, including VTITA, were covered with either divided and partially mobilized urethral plate, or with the inner preputial graft itself. During the second stage, a tunica vaginalis flap was often used to cover the tubularized neourethra. Outcomes and post-op complications were assessed after each stage, comparing patients who received vacuum physiotherapy (VP+, n = 49) with those who did not (VP-, n = 22). RESULTS Mean PC was 66°, average follow-up duration was 13.01 months, and overall complication rate was 22.5%. Only 6 of 49 VP + patients experienced complications (12.24%; 4 fistulas; 2 urethral strictures) and no recurrence of PC after second stage was observed in this group. VP- patients displayed a significantly higher rate of complications, with 10 of 22 cases (45.45%) exhibiting fistula development (n = 5) and glans dehiscence (n = 5). Recurrence of mild PC after first-stage repair was comparable between patient groups (12% VP+, 18% VP-) and easily corrected by simple graft tubularization or dorsal plication during second-stage repair. CONCLUSIONS Staged repair using VTITA is effective for correcting proximal hypospadias with severe chordee. VP appears to promote and expedite graft suppleness and significantly improves patient outcomes.

Abstract
Scar physique refers to the abnormal repair of skin injury in some people, which may easily lead to keloid or hypertrophic scar. However, the mechanism of scar physique is still unclear. GSE108110 was obtained from the gene expression omnibus database. Differently expression genes (DEGs) between normal skin tissue of non-scar physique individuals and normal skin tissue of scar physique individuals were screened by R package "limma". Weighted gene co-expression network analysis was performed to find highly relevant gene modules. Functional annotation of DEGs was made. Protein-protein interaction network was constructed, and the identification and analysis of hub DEGs were performed, including identification of hub DEGs associated with scar diseases, MiRNA of hub DEGs prediction, and functional annotation of miRNA. A total of 1389 up-regulate DEGs and 1672 down-regulate DEGs were screened. weighted gene co-expression network analysis analysis showed that the dendrogram and heatmap were used to quantify module similarity by correlation. The associations between clinic traits and the modules were identified based on the correlation between module and scar physique. Eight common hub genes were obtained. The comparative toxicogenomics database shows common hub genes associated with scar tissue. Gene ontology and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes analysis were significantly enriched in "fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway", "epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway", "G1/S transition of mitotic cell cycle", protein polyubiquitination", and others. The 8 hub genes might be involved in the development of scarring and used as early diagnosis, prevention and treatment of scar physique.

Abstract
Wound healing occurs as a response to disruption of the epidermis and dermis. It is an intricate and well-orchestrated response with the goal to restore skin integrity and function. However, in hundreds of millions of patients, skin wound healing results in abnormal scarring, including keloid lesions or hypertrophic scarring. Although the underlying mechanisms of hypertrophic scars and keloid lesions are not well defined, evidence suggests that the changes in the extracellular matrix are perpetuated by ongoing inflammation in susceptible individuals, resulting in a fibrotic phenotype. The lesions then become established, with ongoing deposition of excess disordered collagen. Not only can abnormal scarring be debilitating and painful, it can also cause functional impairment and profound changes in appearance, thereby substantially affecting patients' lives. Despite the vast demand on patient health and the medical society, very little progress has been made in the care of patients with abnormal scarring. To improve the outcome of pathological scarring, standardized and innovative approaches are required.

Abstract
To develop a risk assessment scale for pathological scarring and validate its psychometric properties. This was a methodological study. Researchers developed the scale based on a literature review, qualitative study and Delphi expert consultation. Subsequently, 409 patients participated in the study to test the psychometric properties of the scale. We evaluated construct validity, content validity, internal consistency reliability, and interrater reliability. The researchers developed a scale consisting of three dimensions and 12 items. Factor analysis extracted a total of four common factors that accounted for 62.22% of the total variance. The results revealed that the item-content validity index (I-CVI) ranged from 0.67 to 1, while the scale-content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.82. Internal consistency reliability: Cronbach's α of the items ranged from 0.67 to 0.76, while Cronbach's α of the whole scale was 0.74. Interrater reliability: the Kappa number was 0.73. The final scale showed adequate construct validity, content validity, and reliability. It is appropriate for use in research and clinical practice settings to identify patients with a risk of pathological scarring. Further study is needed to confirm the scale's validity and reliability in other settings and populations.

Abstract
Hypertrophic scars (HTSs) are pathological structures resulting from chronic inflammation during the wound healing process, particularly in complex injuries like burns. The aim of this work is to propose Biofiber PF (biodegradable fiber loaded with Pirfenidone 1.5 w/w), an electrospun advanced dressing, as a solution for HTSs treatment in complex wounds. Biofiber has a 3-day antifibrotic action to modulate the fibrotic process and enhance physiological healing. Its electrospun structure consists of regular well-interconnected Poly-L-lactide-co-poly-ε-caprolactone (PLA-PCL) fibers (size 2.83 ± 0.46 µm) loaded with Pirfenidone (PF, 1.5% w/w), an antifibrotic agent. The textured matrix promotes the exudate balance through mild hydrophobic wettability behavior (109.3 ± 2.3°), and an appropriate equilibrium between the absorbency % (610.2 ± 171.54%) and the moisture vapor transmission rate (0.027 ± 0.036 g/min). Through its finer mechanical properties, Biofiber PF is conformable to the wound area, promoting movement and tissue oxygenation. These features also enhance the excellent elongation (>500%) and tenacity, both in dry and wet conditions. The ancillary antifibrotic action of PF on hypertrophic scar fibroblast (HSF) for 3 days downregulates the cell proliferation over time and modulates the gene expression of transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) at 48-72 h. After 6 days of treatment, a decrement of α-SMA protein levels was detected, proving the potential of biofiber as a valid therapeutic treatment for HTSs in an established wound healing process.

Abstract
Diagnosing burns in humans has become critical, as early identification can save lives. The manual process of burn diagnosis is time-consuming and complex, even for experienced doctors. Machine learning (ML) and deep convolutional neural network (CNN) models have emerged as the standard for medical image diagnosis. The ML-based approach typically requires handcrafted features for training, which may result in suboptimal performance. Conversely, DL-based methods automatically extract features, but designing a robust model is challenging. Additionally, shallow DL methods lack long-range feature dependency, decreasing efficiency in various applications. We implemented several deep CNN models, ResNeXt, VGG16, and AlexNet, for human burn diagnosis. The results obtained from these models were found to be less reliable since shallow deep CNN models need improved attention modules to preserve the feature dependencies. Therefore, in the proposed study, the feature map is divided into several categories, and the channel dependencies between any two channel mappings within a given class are highlighted. A spatial attention map is built by considering the links between features and their locations. Our attention-based model BuRnGANeXt50 kernel and convolutional layers are also optimized for human burn diagnosis. The earlier study classified the burn based on depth of graft and non-graft. We first classified the burn based on the degree. Subsequently, it is classified into graft and non-graft. Furthermore, the proposed model performance is evaluated on Burns_BIP_US_database. The sensitivity of the BuRnGANeXt50 is 97.22% and 99.14%, respectively, for classifying burns based on degree and depth. This model may be used for quick screening of burn patients and can be executed in the cloud or on a local machine. Abstract
The advancements in skin care methods and products show the rising interest in cosmetics. Recent studies emphasize the regenerative potential of fat grafting, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microneedling, and carbon dioxide (CO2) fractional laser techniques. Combining these strategies into a protocol is yet to be explored. In this article, we demonstrate different types of fat grafts and their versatility in treating different facial problems found in our patient. This study evaluated the synergistic effect of lipoconcentrate and nanofat grafting, PRP, microneedling, and CO2 fractional laser to provide esthetic and regenerative facial skin care. This case report was conducted in Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital, Saudi Arabia. Our case involved a 53-year-old woman who had traumatic facial injuries due to a car accident years ago that buried asphalt particles in her facial scars, causing bluish skin discoloration. She suffered from multiple deep atrophic scars in several areas on the left side of her face, causing asymmetry. She was treated using lipoconcentrate and nanofat grafting, followed by three PRP with microneedling sessions and then a final CO2 fractional laser session. The evaluation was based on the physician's clinical assessment, image documentation, and patient satisfaction, which revealed significant improvement in skin appearance with respect to texture, color, symmetry, and overall health of the skin over a period of four months. The potentiality and efficacy of the combination therapy of lipoconcentrate, nanofat, PRP, microneedling, and CO2 fractional laser for skin rejuvenation and scar treatment showed promising results in this case report.

BACKGROUND The skin is a protective barrier of the body against external factors, and its damage leads to a loss of integrity. Normal wound healing results in a correct, flat, bright, and flexible scar. Initial skin damage and patient specific factors in wound healing contribute that many of these scars may progress into widespread or pathologic hypertrophic and keloid scars. The changes in cosmetic appearance, continuing pain, and loss of movement due to contracture or adhesion and persistent pruritis can significantly affect an individual's quality of life and psychological recovery post injury. Many different treatment methods can reduce the trauma and surgical scars. Manual scar treatment includes various techniques of therapy. The most effectiveness is a combined therapy, which has a multidirectional impact. Clinical observations show an effectiveness of manual scar therapy. MATERIAL AND METHODS The aim of this work was to evaluate effectiveness of the scar manual therapy combined with complementary methods on the postoperative scars. Treatment protocol included two therapies during 30 min per week for 8 weeks. Therapy included manual scar manipulation, massage, cupping, dry needling, and taping. RESULTS Treatment had a significant positive effect to influence pain, pigmentation, pliability, pruritus, surface area, and scar stiffness. Improvement of skin parameters (scar elasticity, thickness, regularity, color) was also noticed. CONCLUSION To investigate the most effective manual therapy strategy, further studies are needed, evaluating comparisons of different individual and combined scar therapy modalities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dyspareunia affects approximately half of postpartum women and is attributed to multiple factors. Despite its high prevalence and resultant negative effects, data are lacking regarding the causes and different pain components, the usefulness of recommended treatments, and the prognosis. AIM To evaluate causes of postpartum dyspareunia, targeted treatment modalities, and their effectiveness. METHODS A retrospective observational study was conducted of women diagnosed with postpartum dyspareunia between September 2008 and January 2017 at a single designated vulvovaginal disorder clinic. The inclusion criterion was complaint of painful intercourse commencing postdelivery. The cohort was divided into 4 groups based on the causes of dyspareunia: muscle hypertonicity, scar tenderness, vestibular tenderness, and atrophy. OUTCOMES The following were assessed for each group: patient background demographics, clinical and obstetric data, physical findings, recommended therapy, adherence to the suggested treatment, level of improvement at follow-up visits, and length of time until maximal improvement. RESULTS A hundred women met the inclusion criterion; the majority (n = 60) presented with >1 causative factor. The most common finding was vestibular tenderness (n = 78, 78%), which was significantly associated with atrophy (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 15.08; 95% CI, 2.45-93.35), contraceptive usage (aOR, 4.76; 95% CI, 1.07-21.39), and primiparity (aOR, 4.89; 95% CI, 1.01-23.88). Episiotomy was the only risk factor for scar tenderness (aOR, 5.43; 95% CI, 1.20-24.53), while the existence of a spontaneous perineal tear was not. No specific correlation was found with pelvic floor muscle hypertonicity. Targeted treatment resulted in significant improvement in most patients. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS A targeted diagnostic and treatment approach for postpartum dyspareunia is effective and can be beneficial for caregivers treating postpartum women. STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS A uniform and consistent protocol for patient selection and management is a major strength, which magnifies the clinical implication of our findings. The retrospective nature of the study is the primary limitation. CONCLUSION Postpartum dyspareunia is a common problem; however, many women refrain from discussing it with their providers. Therefore, it is important to assess this condition with all women during the postpartum visit as targeted diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve outcomes.

Abstract
The process of wound healing is a tightly controlled cascade of events, where severe skin wounds are resolved via scar tissue. This fibrotic response may be diminished by applying anti-fibrotic factors to the wound, thereby stimulating regeneration over scarring. The development of tunable biomaterials that enable spatiotemporal control over the release of anti-fibrotics would greatly benefit wound healing. Herein, harnessing the power of click-to-release chemistry for regenerative medicine, we demonstrate the feasibility of such an approach. For this purpose, one side of a bis-N-hydroxysuccinimide-trans-cyclooctene (TCO) linker was functionalized with human epidermal growth factor (hEGF), an important regulator during wound healing, whereas on the other side a carrier protein was conjugated—either type I collagen scaffolds or bovine serum albumin (BSA). Mass spectrometry demonstrated the coupling of hEGF–TCO and indicated a release following exposure to dimethyl-tetrazine. Type I collagen scaffolds could be functionalized with the hEGF–TCO complex as demonstrated by immunofluorescence staining and Western blotting. The hEGF–TCO complex was also successfully ligated to BSA and the partial release of hEGF upon dimethyl-tetrazine exposure was observed through Western blotting. This work establishes the potential of click-to-release chemistry for the development of pro-regenerative biomaterials.

Abstract
Ovarian cancer is one of the three major gynecological malignancies. It has been reported that Icariside II was able to block the occurrence and development of ovarian cancer. However, the detailed mechanism by which Icariside II regulates the development of ovarian cancer is widely unknown. EdU staining and transwell assays were applied to detect the proliferation, migration, and invasion of ovarian cancer cells. Next, the relationship between miR-144-3p and IGF2R was verified by the dual-luciferase reporter assay. Moreover, in vivo animal model was constructed to verify the effect of Icariside II on the development of ovarian cancer. Icariside II notably inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion and induced the apoptosis of ovarian cancer cells. Additionally, Icariside II markedly increased the level of miR-144-3p in ovarian cancer cells. Moreover, IGF2R was targeted by miR-144-3p directly. Icariside II significantly decreased the expression of IGF2R and the phosphorylation level of AKT and mTOR in ovarian cancer cells, which were partially reversed by miR-144-3p inhibitor. Meanwhile, Icariside II remarkably promoted the autophagy of ovarian cancer cells, as confirmed by the increased expression of Beclin-1 and ATG-5 and decreased expression of p62; however, co-treatment with miR-144-3p inhibitor notably decreased autophagy. Furthermore, the result of animal study suggested Icariside II notably inhibited ovarian tumor growth as well. Collectively, Icariside II could suppress the tumorigenesis and development of ovarian cancer by promoting autophagy via miR-144-3p/IGF2R axis. These results may be beneficial for future studies on the use of Icariside II to treat ovarian cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Scar massage is a widely used treatment modality in hand therapy. This intervention is thoroughly discussed in the literature relating to burns rehabilitation, however, the evidence for its use in treating linear scars following surgery is limited. PURPOSE OF STUDY To collate the empirical literature on scar massage for the treatment of postsurgical cutaneous scars. STUDY DESIGN Scoping review. METHODS Medline, EMBASE, CINAHL, AMED, Scopus, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global, and the Joanna Briggs Institute were searched from inception to December 2020. Two researchers used a data extraction tool to record key demographic, intervention and outcome data, and to apply the Oxford Levels of Evidence for each study. RESULTS Twenty-five studies met the inclusion criteria, reporting on a combined sample of 1515 participants. Only two papers addressed hand or wrist scars (92 participants). While all studies reported favorable outcomes for scar massage, there were 45 different outcome measures used and a propensity towards non-standardized assessment. Intervention protocols varied from a single session to three treatments daily for 6 months. The results from 13 studies were confounded by the implementation of additional rehabilitation interventions. CONCLUSIONS The overall findings suggest that while there may be benefits to scar massage in reducing pain, increasing movement and improving scar characteristics; there is a lack of consistent research methods, intervention protocols and outcome measures. This scoping review highlights the heterogenous nature of research into scar massage following surgery and supports the need for further research to substantiate its use in the clinical setting.

Abstract
Every year, surgical interventions, traumatic wounds, and burn injuries lead to over 80 million scars. These scars often lead to compromised skin function and can result in devastating disfigurement, permanent functional loss, psychosocial problems, and growth retardation. Today, a wide variety of nonsurgical scar management options exist, with only few of them being substantiated by evidence. The working mechanisms of physical anti-scarring modalities remained unclear for many years. Recent evidence underpinned the important role of mechanical forces in scar remodeling, especially the balance between matrix stiffness and cytoskeleton pre-stress. This perspective article aims to translate research findings at the cellular and molecular levels into working mechanisms of physical anti-scarring interventions. Mechanomodulation of scars applied with the right amplitude, frequency, and duration induces ECM remodeling and restores the 'tensile' homeostasis. Depending on the scar characteristics, specific (combinations of) non-invasive physical scar treatments are possible. Future studies should be aimed at investigating the dose-dependent effects of physical scar management to define proper guidelines for these interventions.

Abstract
Glaucoma is an irreversible disease that causes blindness. Formation of a hypertrophic scar (HS) is the main cause of failure of glaucoma surgery. The long non-coding RNA LINC01605 is closely associated with the formation of HS; however, the function of LINC01605 in the formation and development of HS remains unclear. For this study, firstly, human Tenon's capsule fibroblasts (HTFs) and corneal epithelial cells (control cells) were collected from patients (n=5) with POAG who underwent glaucoma filtration surgery at Fuyang People's Hospital. Immunofluorescence analysis was performed to detect the expression levels of vimentin (one of the main components of medium fiber and plays an important role in the cytoskeleton and motility), keratin (the main component of cytoskeletal proteins) and LC3 (an autophagy marker). In addition, reverse transcription-quantitative PCR analysis was performed to detect LINC01605 expression. Besides, the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay was performed to assess the viability of human Tenon's capsule fibroblasts (HTFs). Next, flow cytometry was performed to detect HTF apoptosis. Furthermore, western blot analysis was performed for Bax, Bcl-2, Pro-caspase-3, cleaved caspase-3, phosphorylated (p-)Smad2, Smad2, α-SMA, MMP9, ATG7, p62, beclin 1, p-AMPK and AMPK in HTFs to determine the mechanism by which LINC01605 regulates the formation and development of HS. Moreover, a Transwell assay was performed to detect the migratory ability of HTFs. The results demonstrated that LINC01605 was significantly upregulated in HS tissues compared with that in normal (control/healthy) tissues. In addition, vimentin was highly expressed in HTFs, whereas keratin was expressed at a low level. Also, in HTFs, LINC01605 knockdown inhibited cell viability by inducing apoptosis, decreasing Smad2 activation and inhibiting autophagy. Furthermore, LINC01605 knockdown significantly inhibited the migratory ability of HTFs. Transfection with LINC01605 small interference RNAs significantly downregulated the expression levels of p-Smad2, α-SMA and MMP9 in HTFs. Furthermore, LINC01605 knockdown notably inhibited the viability and migration, and induced the apoptosis of HTFs, the effects of which were reversed following treatment with TGF-β. Taken together, the results of the present study suggested that LINC01605 knockdown may inhibit the viability of HTFs by inducing the apoptotic pathway. These findings may provide novel directions for the treatment of HS.

Abstract
A case study of acute compartment syndrome in the anterior lateral thigh of a professional Rugby Union Flanker with no history of trauma is presented. The report covers all details from initial occurrence; medical history; investigations and surgical treatment; manual stimulus and rehabilitation; return to play; challenges and considerations-resulting in a positive outcome. Resultant observations/recommendations are that investigations should be swift and carefully considered to facilitate surgical intervention via decompressive fasciotomy as required.

Abstract
Introduction The role of postoperative scar tissue adhesion and its impact on motor control in infants with congenital heart disease has not been explored in the literature. Elastic therapeutic tapes, such as Kinesio tape, are designed to affect the integumentary system. This case report aims to demonstrate the safety and present the observations following use of Kinesio tape to treat scar tissue in a pediatric patient after open-heart surgery in conjunction with standard rehabilitation. Method This retrospective case report presents observations of an infant's sternotomy scar adhesion and gross motor development after six applications of Kinesio tape. The sternotomy and drain tube scars were treated with Kinesio tape fascia applications in addition to standard physical therapy (PT). Discussion Several domains showed positive changes. The scar mobility and appearance improved. The patient's motor skills improved, possibly due to skin stretch's role in motor learning. The taping application did not cause discomfort, and there were no adverse reactions. Conclusion In this infant, the three-month-old sternotomy scar improved in adherence and appearance after six applications of Kinesio Fingerprint tape; motor skills also increased in the presence of standard PT. There were no adverse reactions noted with the protocol. Kinesio tape may provide a safe adjunct to treat scar tissue adhesion in infants with median sternotomy scars. Lay Summary Issue being explored Sternotomy scars can cause physical and psychological harm. Sensors (receptors) in the skin help with movement and balance responses. The impact of scar stiffness (adhesion) on developing motor control has not been reported in infants. Treating the scar in the remodelling phase with elastic tape may improve the scar's appearance and ability to move, thereby improving development.

Abstract
Alu elements are retrotransposons related to epigenetic modifications. To date, the role of epigenetics in hypertrophic scars from burn remains unknown. Here, our aim was to examine the pathophysiology of hypertrophic scars from an epigenetic perspective. For that, we performed a cross-sectional analytical study using tissue and blood samples from burned and healthy patients (n = 23 each) to detect Alu methylation levels and patterns. The results of the combined bisulfite restriction analysis technique were categorized into four groups based on the methylation status at the CpG dinucleotides from the 5' to the 3' ends of the Alu sequence: hypermethylated (mCmC), hypomethylated (uCuC), and partially methylated (uCmC and mCuC). Alu methylation levels were significantly lower in hypertrophic scar tissues than in normal skin (29.37 ± 2.49% vs. 35.56 ± 3.18%, p = 0.0002). In contrast, the levels were significantly higher in white blood cells from blood samples of burned patients than in those of control blood samples (26.92 ± 4.04% vs. 24.58 ± 3.34%, p = 0.0278). Alu total methylation (mC) and the uCmC pattern were significantly lower, whereas uCuC was significantly higher, in hypertrophic scar tissues than in normal skin (p < 0.0001). Receiver operating characteristic analysis indicated that the uCmC and uCuC patterns are useful as hypertrophic scar DNA methylation markers after burn, with 91.30% sensitivity and 96.23% specificity and 100% sensitivity and 94.23% specificity, respectively. Our findings suggest that epigenetic modifications play a major role in hypertrophic scar pathogenesis, and may be the starting point for developing a novel technique for burn scar treatment.
