Abstract
Anthropogenic activity has created unique environmental drivers, which may interact to produce unexpected effects. My aim was to conduct a systematic review of the interactive effects of anthropogenic drivers on endocrine responses in non-human animals. The interaction between temperature and light can disrupt reproduction and growth by impacting gonadotropins, thyroid hormones, melatonin, and growth hormone. Temperature and endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) interact to modify reproduction with differential effects across generations. The combined effects of light and EDCs can be anxiogenic, so that light-at-night could increase anxiety in wildlife. Light and noise increase glucocorticoid release by themselves, and together can modify interactions between individuals and their environment. The literature detailing interactions between drivers is relatively sparse and there is a need to extend research to a broader range of taxa and interactions. I suggest that incorporating endocrine responses into Adverse Outcome Pathways would be beneficial to improve predictions of environmental effects.

Abstract
Snails infected by trematodes may increase or decrease their reproductive activity in response to the presence of infection. Our aim was to verify the reproductive alterations in Subulina octona after infection by Paratanaisia bragai. The infected snails were individually exposed for 24 hours to 20 parasite eggs and four groups were formed (10, 20, 30 and 40 d.p.i.- days after infection), along with control groups. Every 10 days, the number of eggs in the reproductive tract, number of eggs hatched, galactogen content and histopathological changes were evaluated. The reproductive in the control and infected snails presented an alternating pattern, where periods of high production of eggs and newly hatched were followed by periods of low production. However, in relation to the amount of galactogen, both control and infected groups followed the same pattern of variation. In the histology, we observed the presence of male and female gametes with marked reduction in the number of oocytes. The results indicate that the intra-snail development of the parasite affects the reproductive biology of the host.

Abstract
Photoperiod is a reliable cue to regulate growth and reproduction for seasonal adaptation. Although photoperiodism has been well studied in Chordata and Arthropoda, less is known about Mollusca. We examined photoperiodic effects on egg laying, body size, gonad-somatic index, oocyte size and relative amounts of caudodorsal cell hormone mRNA in individual rearing conditions in the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis. Twenty-five weeks after hatching, the percentages of egg-laying snails under a photoperiod of 12 h light and 12 h darkness (12L:12D) were significantly smaller than those under longer days. The total numbers of eggs and egg masses under 12L:12D were significantly smaller than those under longer days. Significant differences between 16L:8D and 12L:12D were not observed in the soft body and ovotestis weight, and the gonad-somatic index. Photoperiodic effects were also not observed in oocyte diameters twenty-two weeks after hatching. Twenty-seven weeks after hatching amounts of caudodorsal cell hormone mRNA were significantly lower in the cerebral ganglia with commissure under 12L:12D than 16L:8D. L. stagnalis exhibited a clear photoperiodic response in egg laying and the amount of caudodorsal cell hormone mRNA, but not in gonadal development. Under 12L:12D suppression of caudodorsal cell hormone expression might suppress egg laying.

Abstract
Neste estudo teve-se como objetivo avaliar o efeito do fotoperíodo sobre o ciclo de vida e a morfometria da concha de Dysopeas muibum Marcus & Marcus, 1968 em condições de laboratório. Para tal, foram acompanhados o crescimento da concha, a liberação de filhotes e a mortalidade de 40 espécimes submetidos a condições naturais de temperatura, umidade relativa do ar e fotoperíodo, e 80 submetidos a condições controladas (40 com dias longos e 40 com dias curtos), desde o nascimento até 180 dias de vida, quando foram aferidas as medidas da concha. Verificou-se que o fotoperíodo não teve efeito sobre o padrão de crescimento indeterminado, a relação entre reprodução e crescimento, a iteroparidade e a baixa mortalidade antes e após a maturidade sexual. As condições controladas de temperatura, umidade relativa do ar e fotoperíodo favoreceram o crescimento, maiores valores conquiliomorfométricos e o rápido alcance da maturidade sexual, enquanto a diminuição do comprimento do dia favoreceu a fecundidade.

Abstract
The terrestrial slug Lehmannia valentiana was first recorded in Japan in the late 1950s and is now distributed throughout the country. Previous studies have revealed that in Osaka, southwestern Japan, L. valentiana reproduces from November to April. In the present study, in order to clarify the climatic adaptations of L. valentiana in Japan, we examined the life cycle of this slug in Sapporo, northern Japan. In the Sapporo population, the ratio of gonad weight to body weight reached a maximum in September. Most slugs had mature sperm from late August to April and large oocytes from September to April. Thus, the Sapporo population of L. valentiana commenced reproduction two months earlier than the Osaka population. We also examined the effect of various photoperiodic conditions on growth and reproductive maturation in both the Osaka and Sapporo populations. The effect of photoperiod on growth was different in the two populations. In both populations, however, reproductive maturation was induced by short days of photophase 14 h or less, and there was no obvious difference between the two populations, even though reproductive maturation in the wild commences in different seasons. This indicates the possibility that L. valentiana adapts to climatically different regions without changes in its critical daylength in photoperiodic response.

Abstract
The influence of different photophases (0, 6, 12, 18 and 24 hours) on the triglycerides and total cholesterol contents in the hemolymph of A. fulica was evaluated, since there is no information in the literature about the influence of this factor on lipids metabolism in mollusks. After 2 and 4 weeks of exposure the snails were dissected. The cholesterol content at the 2nd and 4th weeks post exposure only varied significantly in the groups exposed at 24 hours and 0 hour of photophase, respectively. Probably, such increase may be a result of a rise in cholesterol biosynthesis and/or remodelling of cell membranes. There were no significant differences among the content of triglycerides in the snails exposed to 6, 12, 18 and 24 hours of photophase during two weeks. The snails exposed to intermediate photophase (6 and 12 hours) had the triglycerides content increased, ranging over values near to those observed in the group exposed to 0 hour. Results showed that triglycerides metabolism in A. fulica are more influenced by photoperiod than cholesterol metabolism. A negative relation is maintained between the triglycerides content in the hemolymph and the different photophases, with lower mobilisation of triglycerides under shorter photophases.

Abstract
Terrestrial slugs (Lehmannia valentiana) collected from a field in Osaka, southwestern Japan, were reared under long-day (16-h light and 8-h darkness, LD 16:8) or short-day conditions (LD 12:12) at 15, 20, or 25 degrees C for 60 days. Slugs reared under short-day conditions were heavier than those reared under long-day conditions; however, slugs reared at 15 degrees C gained more weight regardless of the photoperiodic condition. Gonads were significantly heavier under short-day conditions than under long-day conditions, and oogenesis and spermatogenesis were also induced under short-day conditions. Under short-day conditions, reproductive maturation was suppressed at 25 degrees C as compared with 15 and 20 degrees C, whereas under long-day conditions, lower temperatures induced reproductive maturation. In contrast, slugs reared under short-day conditions at 20 degrees C from the time of hatching gained more weight than those reared under long-day conditions at the same temperature. Moreover, short-day conditions induced reproductive maturation, similar to that observed in the field-collected slugs. In conclusion, short-day and low-temperature conditions promoted growth and reproductive maturation, whereas long-day and high-temperature conditions suppressed them in L. valentiana. Thus, L. valentiana reproduces from late autumn to spring in Osaka.

Abstract
Morphological changes in the sexual organs of the pulmonates were observed throughout a year and correlated with reproductive-cycle periods. Reproductive-organ weights of the snail Megalobulimus abbreviatus were recorded seasonally and gonad sections were analyzed morphologically. The weights were used to obtain the organosomatic index. Mean oocytic diameter and oocytic maturation index were based on gonad sections. It was concluded that M. abbreviatus is an iteroparous snail whose annual reproductive cycle is characterized by mating and egg laying throughout spring and early summer, and also by reproductive system preparation, occurring over the remainder of the summer until the end of winter, for a new breeding season.
