Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite the proliferation of clinical research that can be used to inform Clinical Practice Guidelines there remain many areas where the number and quality of research studies vary widely. Using the Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for Moderate-to-Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (MOD-SEV TBI) as an example, there is a lack of robust research evidence, derived from randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews to inform the recommendations. Randomized controlled trials in this field often have limitations, such as smaller sample sizes and gender and racial disparities in enrollment, that reduce the level of evidence they can provide. Notably, evidence is often lacking in the priority areas identified by people with lived experience (PWLE) and guideline end-users. METHODS The Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for MOD-SEV TBI rehabilitation is a Living Guideline that implemented a robust and replicable process to mitigate these issues. This process includes: 1. Identification of Priorities by PWLE of MOD-SEV TBI and Guideline End-Users; 2. Involvement of Diverse Multidisciplinary Expert Panels, Including PWLE; 3. Compilation, Review and Evaluation of Published MOD-SEV TBI Evidence; 4. Identification of Gaps in the Published Literature; 5. Formulation of Recommendations, Rigorous Grading of Available Evidence and Formal Voting; 6. Creation of Knowledge Translation and Mobilization Tools and 7. Publication of the Updated Living Guideline. RESULTS Since 2014-15, the Canadian TBI Living Guideline has implemented and refined this process to produce high-quality expert consensus-based recommendations and knowledge translation and mobilization tools across 21 comprehensive domains of TBI rehabilitation. There are 351 recommendations in the current version of the Canadian TBI Living Guideline; 68% of these are primarily consensus-based recommendations. Developing a comprehensive guideline in areas where research may not be present or strong ensures that the Guideline is comprehensive and addresses the priority needs of clinicians and PWLE. CONCLUSIONS The use of robust, transparent, and replicable evidence reviews and expert consensus building process produces clinical guidelines that are relevant and applicable even when empirical data are lacking or absent. This process of developing consensus-based recommendations can be used to develop guidelines in other content areas and populations facing similar challenges.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Clinical practice guidelines in neurorehabilitation for adults with disorders of consciousness by the Spanish Neurorehabilitation Society. This document is based on a review of international clinical practice guidelines published between 2015 and 2022. METHOD A total of 7 articles, corresponding to 5 clinical practice guidelines published between 2015 and 2022, were selected by the group of authors from a pool of 48 bibliographic references extracted from various databases in accordance with predefined search criteria. Following this review, forty recommendations were formulated and subjected to evaluation by an expert committee using a 9-point Likert scale: 1-3 (inappropriate recommendation), 4-6 (uncertain recommendation), and 7-9 (appropriate recommendation), following the methodology of the "Modified Nominal Group Technique." Any recommendation endorsed by at least 75% of the experts as "appropriate" (with a score of 7-9) was considered accepted. CONCLUSIONS This document presents 40 recommendations categorised according to the level of evidence provided by the reviewed studies. These recommendations represent a consensus among experts and pertain to various aspects related to: 1) clinical assessment, 2) complementary diagnostic tests, 3) prognosis, and 4) treatment in this specific population.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Objective: After sustaining a moderate to severe traumatic brain injury (MSTBI), individuals often experience comorbid mental health conditions that can impair the rehabilitation and recovery process. The objective of this initiative was to update recommendations on the assessment and management of mental health conditions for the Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for the Rehabilitation of Adults with MSTBI (CAN-TBI 2023). OBJECTIVE Design: A systematic search was conducted by the Evidence-Based Review of Moderate to Severe Acquired Brain Injury to identify new and relevant articles. Expert Panel reviewed and discussed the new and existing evidence, evaluated its quality, and added, removed, or modified recommendations and tools as needed. A consensus process was followed to achieve agreement on recommendations. OBJECTIVE Results: CAN-TBI 2023 includes 20 recommendations regarding best practices for the assessment and management of mental health conditions post-MSTBI. About 17 recommendations were updated, 1 new recommendation was formed, and 2 recommendations remained unchanged. The Guideline emphasizes the importance of screening and assessment of mental health conditions throughout the rehabilitation continuum. The Expert Panel recommended incorporating multimodal treatments that include pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches to manage mental health concerns. OBJECTIVE Conclusion: The CAN-TBI 2023 recommendations for the assessment and management of mental health conditions should be used to inform clinical practice. Additional high-quality research in this area is needed, as 13 recommendations are based on level C evidence, 4 on level B evidence, and 3 on level A evidence.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Behavioral changes following moderate to severe traumatic brain injury (MSTBI) are common and can include agitation or aggression, reduced arousal or apathy, and inappropriate sexual behavior. These changes can negatively affect recovery, function, and quality of life. Pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions are often used to address these challenges; however, there is limited evidence regarding the effectiveness of these treatments. This article will summarize the updated recommendations for the assessment and management of behavioral changes in adults after MSTBI. DESIGN A systematic search was conducted by the evidence-based review of moderate to severe acquired brain injury to identify new and relevant articles. Expert panels reviewed and discussed the new and existing evidence, evaluated its quality, and added, removed, or modified recommendations and tools as needed. A consensus process was followed to achieve agreement on recommendations. RESULTS The 2023 Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for the Rehabilitation of Adults with Moderate to Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (CAN-TBI 2023) includes 21 recommendations regarding best practices for the assessment and management of behavioral disorders post-MSTBI. Fifteen recommendations remained unchanged, and 6 recommendations were updated. Eight recommendations are based on level B evidence and 13 on level C evidence. There are no recommendations based on level A evidence. The guideline also includes a step-by-step algorithm for clinicians to follow outlining an approach to the assessment and management of agitation and aggression. CONCLUSION CAN-TBI 2023 will assist clinicians in the assessment and safe and effective management of behavioral changes post-MSTBI. The guideline is informed by a growing scientific database although there is a need for additional high-quality research to better guide the assessment and management of this complex patient population.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE It is often challenging for providers to remain up to date with best practices gleaned from clinical research. Consequently, patients may receive inappropriate, suboptimal, and costly care. Living clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) maintain the methodological rigor of traditional CPGs but are continuously updated in response to new research findings, changes in clinical practice, and emerging evidence. The objective of this initiative was to discuss the lessons learned from the transformation of the Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for the Rehabilitation of Adults with Traumatic Brain Injury (CAN-TBI) from a traditional guideline update model to a living guideline model. DESIGN The CAN-TBI Guideline provides evidence-based rehabilitative care recommendations for individuals who have sustained a TBI. The Guideline is divided into 2 sections: Section I, which provides guidance on the components of the optimal TBI rehabilitation system, and Section II, which focuses on the assessment and rehabilitation of brain injury sequelae. A comprehensive outline of the living guideline process is presented. RESULTS The CAN-TBI living guideline process has yielded 351 recommendations organized within 21 domains. Currently, 30 recommendations are supported by level A evidence, 81 recommendations are supported by level B evidence, and 240 consensus-based recommendations (level C evidence) comprise 68% of the CAN-TBI Guideline. CONCLUSION Given the increasing volume of research published on moderate-to-severe TBI rehabilitation, the CAN-TBI living guideline process allows for real-time integration of emerging evidence in response to the fastest-growing topics, ensuring that practitioners have access to the most current and relevant recommendations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To summarize the best evidence-based strategies for the management of cognitive dysfunction in patients with brain injury and to provide a reference for clinical nursing practice. DESIGN Review. METHODS The review was presented using PRISMA guidelines. A systematic search of evidence on the management of cognitive dysfunction in patients with brain injury was conducted in computerized decision systems, guideline websites, professional association websites and comprehensive databases from the date of creation to 21 June 2023. The types of evidence included were clinical decision making, guidelines, evidence summaries, best practices, recommended practices, expert consensus, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Two researchers trained in evidence-based methodological systems independently evaluated the quality of the literature and extracted, integrated and graded the evidence for inclusion. RESULTS A total of 20 articles were selected, including nine guidelines, three expert consensus articles, one clinical practice article and seven systematic reviews, and the overall quality of the literature was high. Thirty pieces of evidence were summarized in seven areas: assessment, multidisciplinary team, rehabilitation program, cognitive intervention, exercise intervention, music intervention and medication management. CONCLUSIONS This study summarizes the latest evidence on the management of cognitive dysfunction in the care of adults with brain injury and provides a reference for clinical nursing practice. The best evidence should be selected for localized and individualized application in clinical work, and the best evidence should be continuously updated to standardize nursing practice. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION AND/OR PATIENT CARE Patients with cognitive impairment after brain injury often suffer from memory loss, attention deficit and disorientation and are unable to have a normal life and experience much enjoyment, which seriously affects their physical and mental health and creates a great burden of care for their families and society. Best evidence-based strategies for the nursing management of cognitive impairment in brain injury are essential for standardizing clinical nursing practice and providing timely, professional, systematic and comprehensive nursing interventions for patients. REPORTING METHOD This review is reported following the PRISMA 2020 statement guidelines, as applicable, to enhance transparency in reporting the evidence synthesis. Abstract
Inappropriate sleep-related beliefs and behaviours are considered key maladaptive mechanisms in the development and maintenance of insomnia in the otherwise healthy population. The aim of this study was to evaluate critically the role of sleep-related beliefs and behaviours in insomnia after acquired brain injury. Cross-sectional data of 51 outpatients with insomnia disorder and acquired brain injury were used to evaluate associations of the insomnia severity index with the dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes about sleep scale and sleep-related behaviours questionnaire. Seven (44%) of the dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes about sleep scale items and 10 (31%) of the sleep-related behaviours questionnaire items correlated significantly with insomnia severity. Ten experts were consulted on whether they considered the questionnaire items maladaptive or accurately reflecting coping with conditions experienced by people with acquired brain injury. Although multiple linear regression showed that the total scores of the questionnaires explained a significant part of interindividual differences in insomnia severity (R2 = 0.27, F(2,48) = 8.72, p < 0.01), the experts unanimously rated only four (25%) of the dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes about sleep scale items as dysfunctional beliefs and three (9%) of the sleep-related behaviours questionnaire items as safety behaviours. In people with brain injury, sleep related beliefs and behaviours may also play a role in insomnia, especially a diminished perception of control and worry about sleep. However, more than half of the questionnaire items on sleep-related beliefs and behaviours may not be considered inappropriate and maladaptive for the acquired brain injury population, and may reflect adequate observations and efforts in coping with consequences of the brain damage.

Adaptation and Validation of the Standardized Swallowing Assessment Tool for Patients With Moderate-Severe Traumatic Brain Injury and Cervical Spinal Cord Injury. J Neurotrauma 2024; 41:1101-1111. Abstract
Oropharyngeal dysphagia is common in moderate-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) and cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) patients and can have serious consequences. Delaying feeding in these patients can also be detrimental. Nonetheless, the psychometric properties of screening tools that can promptly identify dysphagia have never been tested in these neurotrauma populations. This study aimed to: (1) adapt, translate, and validate the content of the French-Canadian version of the the Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA) tool to meet the needs of moderate-severe TBI and cervical SCI patients, (2) examine its inter-rater reliability and criterion-concurrent validation, and (3) evaluate its clinical utility from the perspectives of critical care nurses. The SSA tool was adapted and translated using an integrated method for the cultural adaptation and translation of tools. Eleven experts participated in the adaptation of the SSA tool, which led to the clarification of one item, as well as a new step and instructions for the screening procedure. Content validation (i.e., item and scale relevance) was evaluated by multidisciplinary team members (n = 17). The mean content validity index (CVI) score was 0.97 for the entire scale, while the mean CVI scores for individual items ranged from 0.82 to 1.0. A total of 60 neurotrauma patients were enrolled for inter-rater reliability and criterion-concurrent validation. Interrater reliability was determined by comparing two scores: one score from nurses responsible for the care of enrolled patients and one score from the research nurse. The weighted kappa coefficients for inter-rater reliability were 0.86 for moderate-severe TBI patients (n = 30) and 0.73 for cervical SCI patients (n = 30). A speech language therapist (SLT) also assessed dysphagia and results were used as the standard clinical reference criterion to determine concurrent validity (sensibility and specificity) of the adapted SSA tool. The sensitivity and specificity were 92% and 50% for moderate-severe TBI, and 77% and 75% for cervical SCI, respectively. The positive predictive value (PPV) and the negative predictive value (NPV) were 65% and 87% in TBI patients, and 75% and 76% in SCI patients. Test accuracy was 71% and 77% for these same groups. The clinical utility of the tool was evaluated according to the following domains: appropriateness, accessibility of the required material, applicability, perceived effectiveness, and acceptability. Acceptability was the only domain with a level of agreement <80% (74%) among trauma critical care nurses (n = 49). Findings support the content validation and inter-rater reliability of the adapted French-Canadian version of the SSA tool in moderate-severe TBI and cervical SCI patients. Sensitivity was acceptable in both groups, but the specificity was lower, especially in moderate-severe TBI patients. Further validation of the adapted French-Canadian version of the SSA tool is needed in neurotrauma patients to confirm these results and to ensure safe dysphagia screening while avoiding oral feeding deferrals.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION We present the Spanish Society of Neurorehabilitation's guidelines for adult acquired brain injury (ABI) rehabilitation. These recommendations are based on a review of international clinical practice guidelines published between 2013 and 2020. DEVELOPMENT We establish recommendations based on the levels of evidence of the studies reviewed and expert consensus on population characteristics and the specific aspects of the intervention or procedure under research. CONCLUSIONS All patients with ABI should receive neurorehabilitation therapy once they present a minimal level of clinical stability. Neurorehabilitation should offer as much treatment as possible in terms of frequency, duration, and intensity (at least 45-60minutes of each specific form of therapy that is needed). Neurorehabilitation requires a coordinated, multidisciplinary team with the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to work in collaboration both with patients and with their families. Inpatient rehabilitation interventions are recommended for patients with more severe deficits and those in the acute phase, with outpatient treatment to be offered as soon as the patient's clinical situation allows it, as long as intensity criteria can be maintained. The duration of treatment should be based on treatment response and the possibilities for further improvement, according to the best available evidence. At discharge, patients should be offered health promotion, physical activity, support, and follow-up services to ensure that the benefits achieved are maintained, to detect possible complications, and to assess possible changes in functional status that may lead the patient to need other treatment programmes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Around 500/100,000 Canadians experience a traumatic brain injury (TBI) resulting in long-term disabilities and premature death. Physiotherapy is known to positively impact the prognosis of young adults following a TBI. OBJECTIVE This is a scoping review that aimed to identify research topics in physiotherapy interventions for seniors after a TBI, describe potential knowledge gaps, and uncover needs for future research. METHODOLOGY Ten databases were interrogated (January-March 2022). We included texts published after 2010, in English or French, scientific papers, guidelines, and gray literature sources targeting in-hospital, acute-to-subacute interventions for people aged ≥55 years old with a moderate-to-severe TBI. The outcomes sought were physical/functional capacities, injury severity, and quality of life. RESULTS From 1296 articles, 16 were selected. The number of participants from the studies altogether was 248,794. We identified eight retrospectives studies, three clinical trials, and five articles from the gray literature. Articles were classified according to the nature of their analysis and outcomes: (1) interventional studies including physiotherapy (at least 10 types of rehabilitative or preventive interventions were identified); (2) studies evaluating prognostic factors (five factors identified); and (3) recommendations from clinical practical guidelines and other sources (gray literature). Our results provide evidence that physiotherapy is effective in TBI acute rehabilitation for the elderly to prevent complications arising from the primary injury and to improve functional capacities. CONCLUSION The heterogeneity of our results does not allow us to infer the effectiveness of one intervention over another. However, we found that the elderly population benefits from physiotherapy interventions as much as adults, but the gap must be filled with higher-quality studies to make definite recommendations.

Abstract
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is disproportionately prevalent among individuals experiencing homelessness. While rehabilitation is critical to facilitating recovery after TBI, there is currently limited information on the extent to which rehabilitation is provided to individuals experiencing homelessness and TBI. If unaddressed, this knowledge gap can perpetuate TBI-related challenges and contribute to a repetitive cycle of TBI and homelessness. This scoping review explored the extent to which rehabilitation, including the types of rehabilitation interventions, are available to, or used by, individuals experiencing homelessness and TBI. A systematic search of electronic databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane CENTRAL Register of Clinical Trials, CINAHL, APA PsycINFO, Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts, and Proquest Nursing and Allied Health) was conducted to identify peer-reviewed articles that met predetermined eligibility criteria. Gray literature and reference lists of eligible articles were also searched for relevant content. A descriptive numerical summary of extracted data was conducted, and qualitative analytic techniques were applied to analyze the data. Fifteen peer-reviewed articles and three gray literature reports were included, describing interventions for individuals experiencing homelessness and TBI (N = 4), rehabilitation for individuals experiencing homelessness without specific inclusion criteria for TBI (N = 11), and rehabilitation interventions that included individuals experiencing homelessness and TBI, without specific inclusion criteria for experiences of homelessness or TBI (N = 3). This review demonstrates that rehabilitation programs or interventions for this population already exist, and those that are focused on individuals experiencing homelessness are already serving individuals with TBI. Findings highlight opportunities to adapt existing rehabilitation for individuals who experience homelessness and TBI through screening for TBI, conducting cognitive and functional assessments, and tailoring interventions with multidisciplinary teams. Education and training for healthcare professionals working with individuals experiencing homelessness and TBI should be explored, including structured education and training, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and co-development of educational materials with service users. Research that considers the rehabilitation needs of diverse individuals experiencing homelessness and TBI is urgently needed.

Abstract
Background: Previous literature has documented racial/ethnic differences in traumatic brain injury (TBI) risk, cause, treatment, and rehabilitation. The purpose of the current study was to investigate potential racial/ethnic differences in arrest probability trajectories over the first 10 years after TBI and whether injury and sociodemographic characteristics accounted for these differences. Methods: The current study included 13,195 participants with moderate-to-severe TBI in the TBI Model Systems National Database who had arrest data from at least one follow-up time point (Years 1, 2, 5, and/or 10). A series of hierarchical linear models assessed racial/ethnic differences in trajectories of arrest probability over these 10 years post-injury and then included socio-demographic and injury-related covariates. Results: White individuals with TBI had lower arrest probability trajectories than Black and Native American individuals, and Asian individuals with TBI had lower arrest probability trajectories than White, Black, Latinx, and Native American persons. In many cases, racial/ethnic disparities persisted even when injury and sociodemographic characteristics were covaried. Conclusion: These results suggest that rehabilitation clinicians should assess for post-injury arrest risk factors such as age, sex, education, pre-injury unemployment, arrest history, and substance abuse, particularly in Black, Latinx, and Native American groups, and integrate programming to lessen post-injury arrest probability and improve overall rehabilitation outcomes.

Abstract
As more people are surviving cardiac arrest, focus needs to shift towards improving neurological outcomes and quality of life in survivors. Brain injury after resuscitation, a common sequela following cardiac arrest, ranges in severity from mild impairment to devastating brain injury and brainstem death. Effective strategies to minimise brain injury after resuscitation include early intervention with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, restoration of normal physiology, and targeted temperature management. It is important to identify people who might have a poor outcome, to enable informed choices about continuation or withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments. Multimodal prediction guidelines seek to avoid premature withdrawal in those who might survive with a good neurological outcome, or prolonging treatment that might result in survival with severe disability. Approximately one in three admitted to intensive care will survive, many of whom will need intensive, tailored rehabilitation after discharge to have the best outcomes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate presence of and factors associated with self- and parent-reported fatigue 7 years after severe childhood traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the prospective longitudinal study TGE (Traumatisme Grave de l'Enfant-severe childhood trauma). METHODS Self-reports and/or parent reports on the Multidimensional Fatigue Scale were collected for 38 participants (aged 7-22 years) 7 years after severe childhood TBI, and 33 controls matched for age, gender, and parental educational level. The data collected included sociodemographic characteristics, age at injury and injury severity scores, overall disability (Glasgow Outcome Scale Extended), intellectual outcome (Wechsler scales), and questionnaires assessing executive functions, health-related quality of life, behavior, and participation. RESULTS Fatigue levels were significantly worse in the TBI than in the control group, especially for cognitive fatigue. Correlations of reported fatigue with age at injury, gender, TBI severity, and intellectual ability were moderate and often not significant. Fatigue was significantly associated with overall level of disability (Glasgow Outcome Scale Extended) and with all questionnaires completed by the same informant. CONCLUSION High levels of fatigue were reported by 30% to 50% of patients 7 years after a severe childhood TBI. Reported fatigue explained more than 60% of the variance of reported health-related quality of life by the same informant (patient or parent).

Abstract
Background Guidelines and quality indicators (for example as part of a quality assurance scheme) aim to improve health care delivery and health outcomes. Ideally, the development of quality indicators should be grounded in evidence-based, trustworthy guideline recommendations. However, anecdotally, guidelines and quality assurance schemes are developed independently, by different groups of experts who employ different methodologies. We conducted an extension and update of a previous systematic review to identify, describe and evaluate approaches to the integrated development of guidelines and related quality indicators. Methods On May 24th, 2019 we searched in Medline, Embase and CINAHL and included studies if they reported a methodological approach to guideline-based quality indicator development and were published in English, French, or German. Results: Out of 16,034 identified records, we included 17 articles that described a method to integrate guideline recommendations development and quality indicator development. Added to the 13 method articles from original systematic review we included a total 30 method articles. We did not find any evaluation studies. In most approaches, guidelines were a source of evidence to inform the quality indicator development. The criteria to select recommendations (e.g. level of evidence or strength of the recommendation) and to generate, select and assess quality indicators varied widely. We found methodological approaches that linked guidelines and quality indicator development explicitly, however none of the articles reported a conceptual framework that fully integrated quality indicator development into the guideline process or where quality indicator development was part of the question formulation for developing the guideline recommendations. Conclusions In our systematic review we found approaches which explicitly linked guidelines with quality indicator development, nevertheless none of the articles reported a comprehensive and well-defined conceptual framework which integrated quality indicator development fully into the guideline development process.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW There is an urgent need to discuss the uncertainties and paradoxes in clinical decision-making after severe traumatic brain injury (s-TBI). This could improve transparency, reduce variability of practice and enhance shared decision-making with proxies. RECENT FINDINGS Clinical decision-making on initiation, continuation and discontinuation of medical treatment may encompass substantial consequences as well as lead to presumed patient benefits. Such decisions, unfortunately, often lack transparency and may be controversial in nature. The very process of decision-making is frequently characterized by both a lack of objective criteria and the absence of validated prognostic models that could predict relevant outcome measures, such as long-term quality and satisfaction with life. In practice, while treatment-limiting decisions are often made in patients during the acute phase immediately after s-TBI, other such severely injured TBI patients have been managed with continued aggressive medical care, and surgical or other procedural interventions have been undertaken in the context of pursuing a more favorable patient outcome. Given this spectrum of care offered to identical patient cohorts, there is clearly a need to identify and decrease existing selectivity, and better ascertain the objective criteria helpful towards more consistent decision-making and thereby reduce the impact of subjective valuations of predicted patient outcome. SUMMARY Recent efforts by multiple medical groups have contributed to reduce uncertainty and to improve care and outcome along the entire chain of care. Although an unlimited endeavor for sustaining life seems unrealistic, treatment-limiting decisions should not deprive patients of a chance on achieving an outcome they would have considered acceptable.

Abstract
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a global public health issue, frequently resulting in impairments in the cognitive domains of attention, information processing speed, memory, executive function, and communication. Despite the importance of rehabilitating cognitive difficulties, and the release of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for cognitive rehabilitation, little is known about current clinician practice. This study aimed to explore current international clinician practice of cognitive rehabilitation. One hundred and fifteen English-speaking allied health professionals, including neuropsychologists and occupational therapists, from 29 countries outside Australia, were surveyed online about their current practice and reflections on cognitive rehabilitation. Both cognitive retraining and functional compensation approaches to cognitive rehabilitation were commonly utilized. Clinicians mostly targeted deficits in attention and executive functioning with retraining interventions, whilst memory deficits were mostly targeted with compensatory interventions. Clinicians were aware of and utilized various resources for cognitive rehabilitation, including CPGs. Clinicians considered the client's social support network, client engagement and motivation in rehabilitation, multidisciplinary team collaboration, and goal setting and implementation as highly impactful factors on the success of cognitive rehabilitation interventions. Whilst practice is broadly consistent with current CPG recommendations, addressing facilitating factors can further optimize client outcomes and quality of life following TBI.
