Abstract
In the post-COVID-19 era, extensive quantities of antipyretic drugs are being haphazardly released from households into the environment, which may pose potential risks to ecological systems and human health. Identification of the mobility behaviors of these compounds in the subsurface environment is crucial to understand the environmental fate of these common contaminants. The mobility properties of three broad-spectrum antipyretic drugs, including ibuprofen (IBF), indometacin (IMC), and acetaminophen (APAP), in porous soil media, were investigated in this study. The results showed that the mobility of the three drugs (the background electrolyte was Na+) through the soil column followed the order of APAP > IBF > IMC. The difference in the physicochemical characteristics of various antipyretic drugs (e.g., the molecular structure and hydrophobicity) could explain this trend. Unlike Na+, Ca2+ ions tended to serve as bridging agents by linking the soil grains and antipyretic molecules, leading to the relatively weak mobility behaviors of antipyretic drugs. Furthermore, for a given antipyretic drug, the antipyretic mobility was promoted when the background solution pH values were raised from 5.0 to 9.0. The phenomenon stemmed from the improved electrostatic repulsion between the dissociated species of antipyretic molecules and soil grains, as well as the weakened hydrophobic interactions between antipyretic drugs and soil organic matter. Furthermore, a two-site non-equilibrium transport model was used to estimate the mobility of antipyretic drugs. The results obtained from this work provide vital information illustrating the transport and retention of various antipyretic drugs in aquifers.

Abstract
mRNA vaccines take advantage of the mechanism that our cells use to produce proteins. Our cells produce proteins based on the knowledge contained in our DNA; each gene encodes a unique protein. The genetic information is essential, but cells cannot use it until mRNA molecules convert it into instructions for producing specific proteins. mRNA vaccinations provide ready-to-use mRNA instructions for constructing a specific protein. BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) and mRNA-1273 (Moderna) both are newly approved mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines that have shown excellent protection and efficacy. In total, there are five more mRNA-based vaccine candidates for COVID-19 under different phases of clinical development. This review is specifically focused on mRNA-based vaccines for COVID-19 covering its development, mechanism, and clinical aspects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Oxytocin is commonly used to reduce blood loss during suction curettage for missed abortion. However, the potential of oxytocin to mitigate blood loss in early pregnancy remains controversial. Based on the hypothesis that the "timing" of oxytocin administration may be a critical factor, we investigated whether the timing of intravenous (IV) administration is associated with reduced perioperative blood loss during first-trimester suction curettage for missed abortion. METHODS The medical charts of 146 patients with ultrasound-confirmed first-trimester missed abortion who underwent suction curettage with IV oxytocin administration were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS Among the patients, 67 received 10 IU of IV oxytocin before suction curettage (early-oxytocin administration group), while 79 patients received 10 IU of IV oxytocin after suction curettage (late-oxytocin administration group). The demographic features between the two groups did not significantly differ. However, there was a lower proportion of nulliparous patients in the early-oxytocin administration group than in the late-oxytocin administration group (38.8% vs 60.8%, p = 0.006). The perioperative blood loss amount was significantly lower in the early-oxytocin administration group than in the late-oxytocin administration group (60 [range: 50-100] vs 100 [range: 30-250] mL, p = 0.001). Moreover, the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the early-oxytocin administration group had a lower risk for a perioperative blood loss amount of ≥100 mL than the late-oxytocin administration group (0.23 [range: 0.10-0.55], p = 0.001); a gestational age of 9-12 weeks ( p = 0.009) was found to be associated with an increased risk for a perioperative blood loss amount of ≥100 mL. CONCLUSION Compared with late-oxytocin administration, early-oxytocin administration could reduce perioperative blood loss during first-trimester suction curettage for missed abortion. However, the results require further investigation.
