Abstract
Background: Facial aging is determined by skin quality and the condition of underlying muscles, which contribute to the overall appearance by lifting heavy facial structures. Objective: This study aims to assess the safety and effectiveness of the novel radiofrequency (RF) and high-intensity facial muscle stimulation (HIFES) technology for treating wrinkles by facial tissue remodeling. Methods: This trial assessed the 3-month data of 24 subjects seeking facial wrinkles treatment. All subjects received four treatments, with a device utilizing RF and HIFES. The evaluation included a two-dimensional photographs assessment according to the Fitzpatrick Wrinkle and Elastosis Scale (FWES) and a three-dimensional (3D) photograph analysis for facial appearance. Therapy comfort and subject satisfaction were assessed. Results: Based on the data of 24 subjects (56.5 ± 2.0 years, skin types I-IV), the significant improvement increased up to 3 months (-2.3 points, p < 0.001) post-treatment. 3D photographs analysis documented notable cutaneous and structural rejuvenation and coincided with FWES evaluation, underlining the positive subjective appreciation of the results with 20.4% average wrinkle reduction at 1 month, further increasing to 36.6% wrinkle reduction at 3 months. Conclusion: Documented by both subjective and objective evaluation tools, the RF and HIFES procedure for facial rejuvenation was found to be effective for treatment of wrinkles and skin texture. Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the changes in the bladder neck (BN) and urinary symptoms using extracorporeal magnetic innervation (ExMI) therapy before and after performing passive pelvic floor exercises. METHODS Twenty women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) were assessed by transperineal ultrasound and questionnaires before and after the ExMI therapy from January 2011 to February 2021. RESULTS The incidence of urinary frequency and SUI were significantly decreased after the therapy (McNemar test, p < 0.01). The therapeutic efficacy of SUI was 75%. A significant decrease was noted in pad test results (paired t test, p < 0.05). At the same time, there was a considerable difference in Urinary Distress Inventory-6 scale measures (paired t test, p < 0.001). However, results for the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-7 showed a marginally significant difference (paired t test, p = 0.066). Three domains of lubrication, orgasm, and satisfaction in the Female Sexual Function Index showed significant differences (paired t test, p < 0.05). Transperineal ultrasound found that BN mobility and Q-tip straining angle were not statistically significant (paired t test, p > 0.05). CONCLUSION The ExMI is effective for SUI by strengthening the pelvic floor muscle without significantly decreasing BN mobility.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine which parameters of the currents used with electrotherapy in pelvic floor dysfunctions are more appropriate for the proposed objectives regarding the relief of the symptomatology of certain clinical conditions. MATERIAL AND METHODS A systematic review was performed in CENTRAL, PubMed/MEDLINE and PEDro databases. The risk of bias and methodological quality in the included studies was assessed using the ROBINS-I, JADAD and PEDro scales, respectively. STUDY SELECTION The review included randomized controlled trials, with adult patients aged 18 years or older, that incorporated the use of electrical currents in the conservative treatment of pelvic floor dysfunctions. RESULTS After meeting the evaluation and inclusion-exclusion criteria, 14 articles were selected following the PRISMA guidelines. CONCLUSIONS There is a certain lack of homogeneity in the choice of the parameters of the electrotherapy currents used in pelvic floor dysfunctions. There is evidence supporting the effectiveness of neuromuscular electrostimulation in pelvic floor muscle re-education due to its functional improvements, as well as the application of analgesic electrical current therapy such as TENS for the modulation of clinical conditions involving pain.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Magnetic stimulation is a type of conservative treatment of urinary incontinence. Our aim was to evaluate the possible side effects of this method. Materials and Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review. The key search terms were urinary incontinence, magnetic stimulation, and female. All known synonyms were used. Results: 255 titles and abstracts were retrieved, and 28 articles met our inclusion criteria. Out of 28 studies, 15 reported no side effects, five reported side effects, and eight did not report anything. There was no significant difference in the incidence of side effects between the sham and active treatment groups. Conclusions: Side effects of magnetic stimulation in comparison to other active treatments are minimal and transient. Among the conservative UI treatment methods, magnetic stimulation is one of the safest methods for the patient and as such a suitable first step in treating UI.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lasers and energy-based technologies have been developed for genitourinary applications over the past several decades. AIMS This consensus article aims to categorize the published articles and clinical trial data that culminated in protocol development of technology for genitourinary applications, and to develop consistent parameters in future clinical trials. MATERIALS AND METHODS The published articles and clinical trials data on lasers and energy-based devices applied to genitourinary conditions were categorized according to device and condition and consensus developed on protocols and parameters. RESULTS The devices in genitourinary applications were classified as fractional lasers, radiofrequency and high-intensity focused electromagnetic field therapy. The consensus of the protocols and parameters based upon the published clinical trials of their application to the vaginal and urologic conditions associated with genitourinary syndrome of menopause was developed and organized according to device and condition. DISCUSSION The status of FDA clearances and future pathways are discussed. CONCLUSIONS This consensus article categorizes and presents the protocols and practices for the main classes of lasers and energy-based devices for genitourinary applications in future clinical trials.

Abstract
Pelvic floor electrical stimulation (ES) is an effective treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction. However, the impact of ES on vaginal microbiota and local inflammatory response is yet poorly understood. Therefore, we designed a longitudinal study to investigate the impact of ES on vaginal microbiota and cytokines. A total of 170 participants were recruited into the study at Peking University International Hospital, Beijing, China, from December 2021 to April 2022. They were divided into two groups concerning the follow-up: long-term cohort (n = 147) following up to seven treatment sessions and short-term cohort (n = 23) following up to 7 h after a 30-min treatment. Paired vaginal discharge samples were collected from 134 individuals. Vaginal microbiota was characterized by 16S rRNA sequencing, and local cytokines concentrations were detected by the cytometric bead array method. A significant increase in the relative abundance of Lactobacillus spp. was observed after ES treatment (P < 0.001). In addition, L. crispatus (P = 0.012) and L. gasseri (P = 0.011) also increased significantly. Reduced microbial diversity was observed in the vaginal microbiota after the treatment. In the long-term cohort, a significant downregulation of IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-4, IL-10, IL-17A, and TNF-α was compared with baseline. However, the short-term cohort presented with an elevated IL-6 level at 7 h after the treatment. In conclusion, this study suggested that transvaginal electrical stimulation might help to restore and maintain a healthy vaginal microbiota dominated by Lactobacillus, reducing the risk of vaginal inflammation.

Abstract
Female genitourinary treatments in aesthetics utilize energy-based treatments and other non-invasive modalities. These include CO2 and Er:YAG lasers, radiofrequency (RF), high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM), hyaluronic acid (HA) injection, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and silicone thread treatments with an objective to treat sexual dysfunction and symptoms of genitourinary syndrome associated with menopause (GSM), which include atrophic vaginitis, urinary incontinence, and vulvovaginal laxity that is characterized by vaginal dryness, thinning of the epithelium, laxity, prolapse, incontinence, dyspareunia, and increased bacterial infections. The body of evidence is growing for the use of these modalities to improve signs and symptoms of GSM and sexual function, as well as rejuvenate the appearance of external female genitalia. We reviewed the currently available modalities in this rapidly advancing area of expertise.

Abstract
Urinary incontinence in the general population occurs in 7% of non-pregnant women under 39 years old, 17% of those 40 to 59 years old, and 23-32% of those over 60 years old. In athletes the prevalence is higher, especially in high-impact training and gravity sports. Pelvic floor muscles (PFM) have two important roles; they serve as the support for abdominal organs and are crucial for closure of the urethra, vagina and rectum. We present the proper mechanisms of PFM caudal contractions with proper abdominal muscle control to avoid excessive intra-abdominal pressure. Pelvic floor sonography is discussed as the only objective method for pelvic floor examination among sportswomen and a tool which should be used routinely by urophysiotherapists and urogynecologists. A multidisciplinary individualized approach to stress urinary incontinence among athletes is presented including: physiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, use of a pessary, tampons, pharmacologic and surgical treatment. We present guidelines for stress urinary incontinence treatment in sportswomen of different age.

Abstract
Background: Physiotherapy should be performed by patients with stress or mixed urinary incontinence (SUI and MUI) to increase the strength and endurance of the pelvic floor muscles (PFMs). A method that can positively affect the pelvic floor is stimulation with high-inductive electromagnetic stimulation (HIES). The aim of the study was to evaluate the PFMs after the application of HIES in women with SUI and MUI by using surface electromyography (sEMG). Methods: This was a prospective, randomized, single-blind study with a sham intervention group. The participants were randomly assigned to the HIES group or sham group. The outcomes were features of the bioelectrical PFM activity assessed using sEMG and endovaginal probes. A single-session intervention in the HIES group included 20 min of HIES with an electromagnetic induction intensity of 2.5 T. Results: In the HIES group, there was a statistically significant difference in the PFM sEMG activity during “contractions” (p < 0.001) and “quick flicks” (p = 0.005). In the intergroup comparison, higher PFM sEMG activity after the intervention (“contraction”) was observed in the HIES group than in the sham group (after: p = 0.047; 1 h after: p = 0.017). Conclusions: The assessed HIES method seems effective for SUI and MUI patients in the short term and shows an advantage over the sham intervention in the assessment of PFM contractions.
