Luteimonas suaedae sp. nov., a novel bacterium isolated from rhizosphere of Suaeda aralocaspica (Bunge) Freitag & Schütze

Light yellowish-white colonies of a bacterial strain, designated LNNU 24178T, were isolated from the rhizosphere soil of halophyte Suaeda aralocaspica (Bunge) Freitag and Schütze grown at Shihezi district, Xinjiang, PR China. Cells were Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellum-forming, rod-shaped and non-motile. The results of phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that LNNU 24178T represented a member of the genus Luteimonas and shared the highest sequence similarity with Luteimonas yindakuii CGMCC 1.13927T (97.1 %) and lower sequence similarity (< 97.0 %) to other known species. The genomic DNA G+C content of LNNU 24178T was 68.8 %. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between LNNU 24178T and Luteimonas yindakuii CGMCC 1.13927T, Luteimonas mephitis DSM 12574T, Luteimonas arsenica 26-35T and Luteimonas huabeiensis HB2T were 78.7, 78.6, 78.4 and 80.0 %, respectively. The digital DNA-DNA hybridisation (dDDH) values between LNNU 24178T and L. yindakuii CGMCC 1.13927T, L. mephitis DSM 12574T, L. arsenica 26-35T and L. huabeiensis HB2T were 22.0, 22.3, 22.2 and 23.5 %, respectively. The respiratory quinone detected in LNNU 24178T was ubiquinone-8 (Q-8). The major fatty acids (> 5.0 %) of LNNU 24178T were identified as iso-C15 : 0 (33.9 %), iso-C17 : 0 (8.7 %), iso-C11 : 0 (6.2 %), iso-C16 : 0 (5.7 %), C16 : 0 (5.3 %) and summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1ω9c/10-methyl C16 : 0) (21.1 %). The major polar lipids of LNNU 24178T were diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), one unidentified phospholipid (PL), one unidentified glycolipid (GL) and three unidentified lipids. According to the data obtained from phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analyses, strain LNNU 24178T represents a novel species of the genus Luteimonas, for which the name Luteimonas suaedae sp. nov. is proposed, with LNNU 24178T (= CGMCC 1.17331T= KCTC 62251T) as the type strain.

Lysobacter selenitireducens sp. nov., isolated from river sediment

A Gram-stain-negative, yellow-pigmented, motile, flagellated and rod-shaped bacterium, designated as 13A^T, was isolated from a river sediment sample of Fuyang River in Hengshui City, Hebei Province, PR China. Strain 13A^T grew at 10-37 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 5.0-11.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and at 0-7 % (w/v) NaCl concentration (optimum, 0 %). Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain 13A^T belongs to the genus Lysobacter, and was most closely related to Lysobacter spongiicola DSM 21749^T (97.8 %), Lysobacter concretionis DSM 16239^T (97.5 %), Lysobacter daejeonensis GIM 1.690^T (97.3 %) and Lysobacter arseniciresistens CGMCC 1.10752^T (96.9 %). Meanwhile, the type species Lysobacter enzymogenes ATCC 29487^T was selected as a reference strain (95.2 %). The genomic size of strain 13A^T was 3.0 Mb and the DNA G+C content was 69.0 %. The average nucleotide identity values between strain 13A^T and each of the reference type strains L. spongiicola DSM 21749^T, L. concretionis DSM 16239^T, L. daejeonensis GIM 1.690^T, L. arseniciresistens CGMCC 1.10752^T and L. enzymogenes ATCC 29487^T were 75.9, 76.1, 77.7, 78.0 and 73.2 %, respectively. The digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain 13A^T and each of the reference type strains were 21.7, 22.2, 21.9, 22.7 and 23.2 %, respectively. The average amino acid identity values between strain 13A^T and each of the reference type strains were 72.5, 72.9, 72.3, 75.0 and 69.2 %, respectively. The major fatty acids were iso-C_15 : 0, iso-C_16 : 0 and summed feature 9 (iso-C_17 : 1  ω9c and/or C_16 : 0 10-methyl). The sole respiratory quinone was identified as ubiquinone-8. The polar lipid profile contained phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminolipid, an unidentified lipid, four unidentified phospholipids and two unidentified glycolipids. Based on the phenotypic, physiological, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic data, strain 13A^T represents a novel species of the genus Lysobacter, for which the name Lysobacter selenitireducens sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 13A^T (=JCM 34786^T=GDMCC 1.2722^T).

Lysobacter arenosi sp. nov. and Lysobacter solisilvae sp. nov. isolated from soil

Two Gram-stain negative, yellow-pigmented, and mesophilic bacteria, designated strains R7^T and R19^T, were isolated from sandy and forest soil, South Korea, respectively. Both strains were non-motile rods showing catalase- and oxidase-positive activities. Both strains were shown to grow at 10-37°C and pH 6.0-9.0, and in the presence of 0-1.5% (w/v) NaCl. Strain R7^T contained iso-C_14:0, iso-C_15:0, iso-C_16:0, and summed feature 9 (comprising C_16:0 10-methyl and/or iso-C_17:1ω9c), whereas strain R19^T contained iso-C_11:0 3-OH, C_16:1ω7c alcohol, iso-C_11:0, iso-C_15:0, iso-C_16:0, and summed feature 9 (comprising C_16:0 10-methyl and/or iso-C_17:1ω9c) as major cellular fatty acids (> 5%). Both strains contained ubiquin-one-8 as the sole isoprenoid quinone and phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, and an unidentified phospholipid as the major polar lipids. The DNA G + C contents of strains R7^T and R19^T calculated from their genomes were 66.9 mol% and 68.9 mol%, respectively. Strains R7^T and R19^T were most closely related to Lysobacter panacisoli C8-1^T and Lysobacter niabensis GH34-4^T with 98.7% and 97.8% 16S rRNA sequence similarities, respectively. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strains R7^T and R19^T formed distinct phylogenetic lineages within the genus Lysobacter. Based on phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, and molecular features, strains R7^T and R19^T represent novel species of the genus Lysobacter, for which the names Lysobacter arenosi sp. nov. and Lysobacter solisilvae sp. nov. are proposed. The type strains of L. arenosi and L. solisilvae are R7^T (= KACC 21663^T = JCM 34257^T) and R19^T (= KACC 21767^T = JCM 34258^T), respectively.

Lysobacter penaei sp. nov., isolated from intestinal content of a Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei)

The polyphasic taxonomic approach was used to characterize a novel bacteria strain, designated SG-8^T, which was isolated from intestinal content of a Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei). Cells were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-gliding rods. Growth occurred at 10-45 °C (optimum, 20-30 °C), pH 5.0-10.0 (optimum, 6.0-7.0) and in 0-6.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0-4.0 %). The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain SG-8^T showed the highest sequence similarity to Lysobacter maris KMU-14^T (98.6 %). On phylogenetic trees, strain SG-8^T formed a stable cluster with Lysobacter maris KMU-14^T, Lysobacter alkalisoli SJ-36^T, Lysobacter spongiae 119BY6-57^T and Lysobacter aestuarii S2-C^T. The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain SG-8^T and the four reference type strains listed above were 83.3, 82.3, 83.5, 83.3% and 22.8, 22.7, 22.7, 22.9 %, respectively. The major fatty acids (>5 %) were iso-C_15 : 0, summed feature 9 (iso-C_17 : 1  ω9c and/or 10-methyl C_16 : 0), iso-C_16 : 0, summed feature 3 (C_16 : 1  ω6c and/or C_16 : 1  ω7c), iso-C_17 : 0, iso-C_11 : 0 3OH and iso-C_11 : 0. Ubiquinone-8 (Q-8) was the only respiratory quinone. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol. The DNA G+C content was 68.8 mol%. Based on the results of genomic, phylogenetic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic analyses, strain SG-8^T represents a novel species of the genus Lysobacter, for which the name Lysobacter penaei sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SG-8^T (=GDMCC 1.1817^T=KACC 21942^T).
