Exploring the Role of Indirect Coupling in Complex Networks: The Emergence of Chaos and Entropy in Fractional Discrete Nodes

Understanding the dynamics of complex systems defined in the sense of Caputo, such as fractional differences, is crucial for predicting their behavior and improving their functionality. In this paper, the emergence of chaos in complex dynamical networks with indirect coupling and discrete systems, both utilizing fractional order, is presented. The study employs indirect coupling to produce complex dynamics in the network, where the connection between the nodes occurs through intermediate fractional order nodes. The temporal series, phase planes, bifurcation diagrams, and Lyapunov exponent are considered to analyze the inherent dynamics of the network. Analyzing the spectral entropy of the chaotic series generated, the complexity of the network is quantified. As a final step, we demonstrate the feasibility of implementing the complex network. It is implemented on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA), which confirms its hardware realizability.

The Design of an Anti-Synchronization Control Algorithm for a 4D Laser System

When studying the control problems of nonlinear systems, there are always uncertainties and disturbances. The existence of this phenomenon will increase the error in production engineering and reduce work efficiency. In order to reduce the nonlinear asymmetric control, the control method of a laser hyperchaotic system is designed in this paper. The system is a complex number system, with remarkable nonlinear characteristics. The system is divided into two parts by calculating the state transformation matrix, which shows that the system can realize simultaneous synchronization and anti-synchronization. Firstly, in the ideal case, the stabilization, synchronization, and anti-synchronization of the system are studied by using the dynamic gain feedback method, and a dynamic feedback controller is designed. Secondly, in the case of uncertainty and disturbance, a dynamic feedback control strategy based on uncertainty and disturbance estimator (UDE) is proposed. With the aim to solve the control problem of the system, the corresponding controller is designed to modify the system. Finally, through simulation and comparison, it is verified that the effect of this method is remarkable.

Lyapunov approach to synchronization of chaotic systems with vanishing nonlinear perturbations: From static to dynamic couplings

Synchronization of chaotic dynamics can be pursued by means of different coupling strategies. Definitely, master-slave coupling represents one of the most adopted solutions, even if it presents some limitations due to the coupling term's selection strategy. In this paper, we investigate the role of different structures of coupling terms on the synchronization properties of master-slave chaotic system configurations. Here, Lyapunov theory for linear systems with nonlinear vanishing perturbations is exploited. The obtained results allow to determine the capability of a static, dynamic, or mixed coupling connection in stabilizing the synchronization manifold, using linear techniques based on the root locus. This knowledge allows to design the coupling structure considering also the synchronization error transient features, which are, here, shown to improve in the presence of higher-order dynamic couplings. A number of cases of study, involving classical chaotic nonlinear systems, show the efficacy and simplicity of the application of the strategy proposed.

Initial-switched boosting bifurcations in 2D hyperchaotic map

Recently, the coexistence of initial-boosting attractors in continuous-time systems has been attracting more attention. How do you implement the coexistence of initial-boosting attractors in a discrete-time map? To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel two-dimensional (2D) hyperchaotic map with a simple algebraic structure. The 2D hyperchaotic map has two special cases of line and no fixed points. The parameter-dependent and initial-boosting bifurcations for these two cases of line and no fixed points are investigated by employing several numerical methods. The simulated results indicate that complex dynamical behaviors including hyperchaos, chaos, and period are closely related to the control parameter and initial conditions. Particularly, the boosting bifurcations of the 2D hyperchaotic map are switched by one of its initial conditions. The distinct property allows the dynamic amplitudes of hyperchaotic/chaotic sequences to be controlled by switching the initial condition, which is especially suitable for chaos-based engineering applications. Besides, a microcontroller-based hardware platform is developed to confirm the generation of initial-switched boosting hyperchaos/chaos.
