SU(3) quasidynamical symmetry underlying the Alhassid-Whelan arc of regularity

New pattern in regular nuclei based on their experimental quadrupole transition rates and some new candidates

In this paper, we tried to get a new signature of regular nuclei based on their quadrupole transition rates. We have analyzed the experimental electric quadrupole transition probabilities of well-known "regular nuclei". The results indicate finding specific repetition patterns for E2 transition rates, similar to what has been reported for the energy levels of these nuclei. We also tested the existence of this observed repetition scheme for all known isotopes whose experimental transition rates are available and introduced several new candidates as regular nuclei. Then, the energy spectra (Experimental) of these new suggested "regular nuclei" are investigated in the framework of the Interacting Boson Model, in which the parameters of Hamiltonian confirm the placement of these nuclei in the "Alhassid-Whelan arc of regularity" region. In order to further study the statistical distribution of experimental energy levels related to the electromagnetic transitions we are considering, we studied using the random matrix theory. The results confirmed their regularity.

Partial dynamical symmetry versus quasi dynamical symmetry examination within a quantum chaos analyses of spectral data for even-even nuclei

Statistical analyses of the spectral distributions of rotational bands in 51 deformed prolate even–even nuclei in the 152 ≤ A ≤ 250 mass region \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$R_{{4_{1}^{ + } /2_{1}^{ + } }} \ge 3.00$$\end{document}R41+/21+≥3.00 are examined in terms of nearest neighbor spacing distributions. Specifically, the focus is on data for 0⁺, 2⁺, and 4⁺ energy levels of the ground, gamma, and beta bands. The chaotic behavior of the gamma band, especially the position of the \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$2_{\gamma }^{ + }$$\end{document}2γ+ band-head compared to other levels and bands, is clear. The levels are analyzed within the framework of two models, namely, a SU(3)-partial dynamical symmetry Hamiltonian and a SU(3) two-coupled quasi-dynamical symmetry Hamiltonian, with results that are further analyzed using random matrix theory. The partial and quasi dynamics both yield outcomes that are in reasonable agreement with the known experimental results. However, due to the degeneracy of the beta and gamma bands within the simplest SU(3) picture, the theory cannot be used to describe the fluctuation properties of excited bands. By changing relative weights of the different terms in the partial and quasi dynamical Hamiltonians, results are obtained that show more GOE-like statistics in the partial dynamical formalism as the strength of the pairing term is increased. Also, in the quasi-dynamical symmetry limit, more correlations are found because of the stronger couplings.

Evidence for partial dynamical symmetries in atomic nuclei

Symmetries in nature offer very simple descriptions of complex systems. Partial Dynamical Symmetries (PDS) can considerably broaden their relevance. To present the first extensive test of a PDS for nuclei, we compare an SU(3) PDS to gamma to ground band B(E2) values for 47 deformed nuclei. The parameter-free PDS is found to be quite successful, but with characteristic discrepancies, suggesting that symmetry remnants are more pervasive than heretofore realized. Furthermore, the SU(3) PDS gives new insights into collective models (e.g., interacting boson approximation). If these reproduce the PDS, they reflect finite size effects, while differences from the PDS point to SU(3) configuration mixing.
