Classical dynamics and localization of resonances in the high-energy region of the hydrogen atom in crossed fields. PHYSICAL REVIEW. E, STATISTICAL, NONLINEAR, AND SOFT MATTER PHYSICS 2015; 91:012915. Abstract
When superimposing the potentials of external fields on the Coulomb potential of the hydrogen atom, a saddle point (called the Stark saddle point) appears. For energies slightly above the saddle point energy, one can find classical orbits that are located in the vicinity of this point. We follow those so-called quasi-Penning orbits to high energies and field strengths, observing structural changes and uncovering their bifurcation behavior. By plotting the stability behavior of those orbits against energy and field strength, the appearance of a stability apex is reported. A cusp bifurcation, located in the vicinity of the apex, will be investigated in detail. In this cusp bifurcation, another orbit of similar shape is found. This orbit becomes completely stable in the observed region of positive energy, i.e., in a region of parameter space, where the Kepler-like orbits located around the nucleus are already unstable. By quantum mechanically exact calculations, we prove the existence of signatures in quantum spectra belonging to those orbits. Husimi distributions are used to compare quantum-Poincaré sections with the extension of the classical torus structure around the orbits. Since periodic orbit theory predicts that each classical periodic orbit contributes an oscillating term to photoabsorption spectra, we finally give an estimation for future experiments, which could verify the existence of the stable orbits.

Abstract
We investigate the photodetachment of H - near an inelastic interface semiclassically. It is found that the inelasticity of an interface has significant influence on the photodetachment process. We have derived an analytical formula of the cross section of photodetachment. The spectrum of photodetachment consists of a smooth background and a sinusoidal oscillation whose frequency depends on the electronic energy, the reflection of the wall and the distance between the ion and the wall.

Extracting photon periodic orbits from spontaneous emission spectra in laterally confined vertically emitted cavities. OPTICS LETTERS 2010; 35:2723-2725. Abstract
We report our observation of the signature of photon periodic orbits in the spontaneous emission spectra of large-aperture vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). The high-resolution measurement clearly demonstrates that over a thousand cavity modes with a narrow linewidth can be perfectly exhibited in the spontaneous emission spectrum just below the lasing threshold. The Fourier-transformed spectrum is analyzed to confirm that the spontaneous emission spectra of large-aperture VCSELs can be exploited to analogously investigate the energy spectra of the 2D quantum billiards.

Realization of anisotropic diamagnetic kepler problem in a solid state environment. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2009; 102:244103. Abstract
The anisotropic diamagnetic Kepler problem (ADKP) is realized experimentally by the orbital electrons of a P donor in Si under magnetic fields. The interference of electron wave packets which leads to quasi-Landau resonances (QLR) were observed. Applying the closed-orbit theory to an anisotropic solid state environment, we have identified orbits responsible for the QLR manifesting the quantum chaotic behavior in Rydberg atoms. The excellent consistency between the measured spectra and theoretical calculation provides unambiguous evidence of quantum chaotic dynamics of electrons in the ADKP.

Abstract
We investigate the dependence of the intensity of radiation due to high-harmonic generation as a function of the wavelength lambda of the fundamental driver field. Superimposed on a smooth power-law dependence observed previously, we find surprisingly strong and rapid fluctuations on a fine lambda scale. We identify the origin of these fluctuations in terms of quantum path interferences with up to five returning orbits significantly contributing.
