Abstract
We demonstrate the in situ engineering of superconducting nanocircuitry by targeted modulation of material properties through high applied current densities. We show that the sequential repetition of such customized electro-annealing in a niobium (Nb) nanoconstriction can broadly tune the superconducting critical temperature Tc and the normal-state resistance Rn in the targeted area. Once a sizable Rn is reached, clear magneto-resistance oscillations are detected along with a Fraunhofer-like field dependence of the critical current, indicating the formation of a weak link but with further adjustable characteristics. Advanced Ginzburg-Landau simulations fully corroborate this picture, employing the detailed parametrization from the electrical characterization and high resolution electron microscope images of the region within the constriction where the material has undergone amorphization by electro-annealing.

Abstract
The long range proximity effect in high-Tc c-axis Josephson junctions with a high-Tc barrier of lower Tc is still a puzzling phenomenon. It leads to supercurrents in junctions with much thicker barriers than would be allowed by the conventional proximity effect. Here we measured the T − x (Temperature-doping level) phase diagram of the barrier coherence length ξN(T, x), and found an enhancement of ξN at moderate under-doping and high temperatures. This indicates that a possible origin of the long range proximity effect in the cuprate barrier is the conjectured pre-formed pairs in the pseudogap regime, which increase the length scale over which superconducting correlations survive in the seemingly normal barrier. In more details, we measured the supercurrents Ic of Superconducting - Normal - Superconducting SNS c-axis junctions, where S was optimally doped Y Ba2Cu3O7−δ below Tc (90 K) and N was La2−xSrxCuO4 above its Tc (<25 K) but in the pseudogap regime. From the exponential decay of Ic(T) ∝ exp[−d/ξN(T)], where d is the barrier thickness, the ξN(T) values were extracted. By repeating these measurements for different barrier doping levels x, the whole phase diagram of ξN(T, x) was obtained.

Abstract
Thermally activated flux motion and specific electric resistance in Y358 were studied under different magnetic fields ranging from 0 to 15 kOe. Through investigating the broadening of normal-superconducting transition, we found that the thermally-activated-flux-motion model can describe the electronic effect near the superconducting transition temperature. By modifying this model, specific electric resistance at different magnetic fields was calculated.

Abstract
Measurements of the nonlinear flux-flow resistivity rho and the critical vortex velocity vphi* at high voltage bias close to the instability regime predicted by Larkin and Ovchinnikov (Z. Eksp. Teor. Fiz 68, 1915 (1975) [Sov. Phys. JETP 41, 960 (1976)]) are reported along the node and antinode directions of the d-wave order parameter in the a-b plane of epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7-delta films. In this pinning-free regime, rho and vphi* are found to be anisotropic with values in the node direction larger on average by 10% than in the antinode direction. The anisotropy of rho is almost independent of temperature and field. We attribute the observed results to the anisotropic quasiparticle distribution on the Fermi surface of YBa2Cu3O7-delta.

Abstract
Although initially quite controversial, it is now widely accepted that the Cooper pairs in optimally doped cuprate superconductors have predominantly dx2-y2 wave function symmetry, and the controversy has now shifted to whether the pairing symmetry changes away from optimal doping. Here we present phase-sensitive tricrystal experiments on three cuprate systems: Y(0.7)Ca(0.3)Ba(2)Cu(3)O(7-delta) (Ca-doped Y-123), La2-xSrxCuO4 (La-214), and Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) (Bi-2212), with doping levels covering the underdoped, optimal, and overdoped regions. Our work implies that predominantly d x2-y2 pairing symmetry is robust over a large variation in doping.

Abstract
We describe observations of spontaneous flux generation inside a YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7-delta) loop made of 214 Josephson junctions in series. The flux is generated spontaneously during cooldown into the superconducting state. The experiment is motivated by the Kibble-Zurek scenario of formation of topological defects in condensed matter systems. The transition from decoupled superconducting segments into a coherent loop is determined by the strength of thermal fluctuations in the junctions. Values of the flux measured at the end of each cooldown follow a normal distribution, and are consistent with the instantaneous phase differences across the junctions adding up as the loop becomes coherent.
