Abstract
The crystal structures and Hirshfeld surface analyses of three similar azo compounds are reported. Methyl 4-{2,2-di-chloro-1-[(E)-phenyl-diazen-yl]ethen-yl}benzoate, C16H12Cl2N2O2, (I), and methyl 4-{2,2-di-chloro-1-[(E)-(4-methyl-phen-yl)diazen-yl]ethen-yl}benzoate, C17H14Cl2N2O2, (II), crystallize in the space group P21/c with Z = 4, and methyl 4-{2,2-di-chloro-1-[(E)-(3,4-di-methyl-phen-yl)diazen-yl]ethen-yl}benzoate, C18H16Cl2N2O2, (III), in the space group P with Z = 2. In the crystal of (I), mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming chains with C(6) motifs parallel to the b axis. Short inter-molecular Cl⋯O contacts of 2.8421 (16) Å and weak van der Waals inter-actions between these chains stabilize the crystal structure. In (II), mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-Cl⋯π inter-actions, forming layers parallel to (010). Weak van der Waals inter-actions between these layers consolidate the mol-ecular packing. In (III), mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯π and C-Cl⋯π inter-actions forming chains parallel to [011]. Furthermore, these chains are connected by C-Cl⋯π inter-actions parallel to the a axis, forming (01) layers. The stability of the mol-ecular packing is ensured by van der Waals forces between these layers.

Abstract
The a new polymorph of the title compound is reported in which the C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions link molecules into the layers in the crystal. A new polymorph of the title compound, C14H8Br3N3O2, (form-2) was obtained in the same manner as the previously reported form-1 [Akkurt et al. (2022 ▸). Acta Cryst. E78, 732–736]. The structure of the new polymorph is stabilized by a C—H⋯O hydrogen bond that links molecules into chains. These chains are linked by face-to-face π–π stacking interactions, resulting in a layered structure. Short inter-molecular Br⋯O contacts and van der Waals interactions between the layers aid in the cohesion of the crystal packing. In the previously reported form-1, C—H⋯Br interactions connect molecules into zigzag chains, which are linked by C—Br⋯π interactions into layers, whereas the van der Waals interactions between the layers stabilize the crystal packing of form-2. Hirshfeld molecular surface analysis was used to compare the intermolecular interactions of the polymorphs.

Abstract
The mol-ecule of the title compound, C14H8Br3N3O2, consists of three almost planar groups: the central di-bromo-ethenyldiazene fragment and two attached aromatic rings. The mean planes of these rings form dihedral angles with the plane of the central fragment of 26.35 (15) and 72.57 (14)° for bromine- and nitro-substituted rings, respectively. In the crystal, C-H⋯Br inter-actions connect mol-ecules, generating zigzag C(8) chains along the [100] direction. These chains are linked by C-Br⋯π inter-actions into layers parallel to (001). van der Waals inter-actions between the layers aid in the cohesion of the crystal packing. The most substantial contributions to crystal packing, according to a Hirshfeld surface analysis, are from Br⋯H/H⋯Br (20.9%), C⋯H/H⋯C (15.2%), O⋯H/H⋯O (12.6%) and H⋯H (11.7%) contacts.

Abstract
The stabilized conformation of the title compound, C13H9Cl2N3O2, is similar to that of the isomeric compound (E)-1-(2,6-di-chloro-phen-yl)-2-(2-nitro-benzyl-idene)hydrazine. The 2,6-di-chloro-phenyl ring and the nitro-substituted benzene ring form a dihedral angle of 26.25 (16)°. In the crystal, face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions along the a-axis direction occur between the centroids of the 2,6-di-chloro-phenyl ring and the nitro-substituted benzene ring. The mol-ecules are further linked by C-H⋯O contacts and N-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming pairs of hydrogen-bonded mol-ecular layers parallel to (100). The Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the most important contributions to the crystal packing are from H⋯H (22.1%), Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl (20.5%), O⋯H/H⋯O (19.7%), C⋯C (11.1%) and C⋯H/H⋯C (8.3%) inter-actions.

Abstract
In the title compound, C13H9Cl2N3O2, the 2,6-di-chloro-phenyl ring and the nitro-substituted benzene ring form a dihedral angle of 21.16 (14)°. In the crystal, face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions occur along the a-axis direction between the centroids of the 2,6-di-chloro-phenyl ring and the nitro-substituted benzene ring. Furthermore, these mol-ecules show intra-molecular N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O contacts and are linked by inter-molecular N-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming pairs of hydrogen-bonded mol-ecular layers parallel to (20). The Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the most important contributions to the crystal packing are from H⋯H (23.0%), O⋯H/H⋯O (20.1%), Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl (19.0%), C⋯C (11.2%) and H⋯C/C⋯H (8.0%) inter-actions.

Abstract
In the two isotypic title compounds, C14H8BrCl2N3O2, (I), and C14H8Cl3N3O2, (II), the substitution of one of the phenyl rings is different [Br for (I) and Cl for (II)]. Aromatic rings form dihedral angles of 60.9 (2) and 64.1 (2)°, respectively. Mol-ecules are linked through weak X⋯Cl contacts [X = Br for (I) and Cl for (II)], C-H⋯Cl and C-Cl⋯π inter-actions into sheets parallel to the ab plane. Additional van der Waals inter-actions consolidate the three-dimensional packing. Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structures indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing for (I) are from C⋯H/H⋯C (16.1%), O⋯H/H⋯O (13.1%), Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl (12.7%), H⋯H (11.4%), Br⋯H/H⋯Br (8.9%), N⋯H/H⋯N (6.9%) and Cl⋯C/C⋯Cl (6.6%) inter-actions, and for (II), from Cl⋯H / H⋯Cl (21.9%), C⋯H/H⋯C (15.3%), O⋯H/H⋯O (13.4%), H⋯H (11.5%), Cl⋯C/C⋯Cl (8.3%), N⋯H/H⋯N (7.0%) and Cl⋯Cl (5.9%) inter-actions. The crystal of (I) studied was refined as an inversion twin, the ratio of components being 0.9917 (12):0.0083 (12).

Abstract
The complete molecule of the title compound, C32H22F12N4O2, is generated by a crystallographic twofold axis aligned parallel to [010]. The F atoms of one of the CF3 groups are disordered over three orientations in a 0.6: 0.2: 0.2 ratio. In the crystal, molecules are linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag chains propagating along the a-axis direction. In addition, weak C—H...O and C—H...F bonds are observed. The contribution of the disordered solvent to the scattering was removed using the SQUEEZE routine [Spek (2015). Acta Cryst. C71, 9–18] of PLATON. The solvent contribution is not included in the reported molecular weight and density.
