Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effect of teaching hospital management practices on the quality performance of health services by involving elements such as hospital accreditation standards, quality management, and JCI Academic Hospital-specific standards that are indirectly connected. This study chose a survey-based quantitative approach to clinical professional students in vertical teaching hospitals under the direct management of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. Six proposed hypotheses were tested by Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis. The test results showed a positive influence between hospital teaching governance and hospital accreditation compliance, quality assurance and JCI Academic Hospital standards. Third, compliance with teaching hospital standards was also found to have a significant positive effect on the performance of teaching hospital service quality. Understanding the role of governance in encouraging the performance of teaching hospital service quality can help develop effective managerial strategies in achieving complete service quality for patients and clinical profession participants. This research resulted in contributions to existing practices and literature as governance modeling in dual quality standards charged to teaching hospitals.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The implementation of hospital accreditation standards in healthcare systems in Yemen that ensure safe and high-quality healthcare services is hampered by specific challenges. Therefore, this study was purposed to explore the challenges and strategies for applying hospital accreditation standards among healthcare professionals in Yemen. METHODS A qualitative, phenomenological design was adopted to conduct this study. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data during the period from January 1, 2022, to February 28, 2022. RESULTS Based on the content analysis, the study outcomes and lack of (i) funding, (ii) competent human resources, (iii) optimal infrastructure, and (iv) equipment and supplies deter the implementation of hospital accreditation standards. Also, this study highlighted the cultural and social barriers limiting the effectiveness of hospital accreditation standards, the need for increased investment in healthcare infrastructure and human resources, and cultural sensitivity training for healthcare professionals to enhance the implementation of and compliance with hospital accreditation standards. CONCLUSIONS Policymakers should engage global corporations and development partners for technical assistance and capacity building that support the local application of hospital accreditation standards.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The quality of health care relies on achieving the best quality and patient safety goals, and accreditation plays a fundamental role in achieving these goals through compliance with standards that guide excellence. Accreditation also helps streamline operations and supports evidence-based quality improvement plans. This study aims to evaluate the perception of health care professionals on the accreditation process and its impact on the quality of health care and patient safety. METHODS This is a cross-sectional questionnaire survey distributed via the SuccessFactors website and made accessible to all hospital staff. RESULTS The online questionnaire was completed by 2047 participants, representing 51% of the entire hospital staff at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH). Overall analysis indicated a positive perception of accreditation benefits among health care employees (as indicated by participation in accreditation activities and/or preparation for the survey visits) and reflected on patient health care quality and safety dimensions, with an overall Likert median score of 4.0 (interquartile range = 3.7-5.0; P < .05). CONCLUSION The outcomes of our study confirm that JHAH employees perceived a positive impact of accreditation on health care quality improvement and patient safety. Also, the study supports considering accreditation as a fundamental requirement to improve health care system processes. However, it is critical to sustain quality of services over time during accreditation cycles.

Jasti NVK, Venkateswaran V, Kota S. Total Quality Management in higher education: a literature review on barriers, customers and accreditation. TQM JOURNAL 2021. [DOI: 10.1108/tqm-11-2020-0256] [Citation(s) in RCA: 2] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/17/2022]
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the evolution of Total Quality Management (TQM) in terms of barriers, customers and accreditation in higher education (HE) over the last three decades (1991–2020) using literature review to establish the current state.
Design/methodology/approach
A total of 137 articles across 55 journals were consolidated for this review specifically focused on TQM (barriers, customers and accreditation) in HE. The investigations were carried out to identify the chronological growth of articles, research streams and methodologies. The articles were classified based on four research approaches and three research streams which have been reviewed in detail.
Findings
Considering the rapid growth in the HE sector and the concerns over reduction in quality of education especially in developing countries, the importance of TQM in HE is immense. The findings include identification of the barriers to successful TQM implementation, the need for alignment of TQM objectives of higher educational institutions (HEIs) and identified target customer(s) with the selected model/framework and the impact of accreditation/certification in the attainment of TQM.
Originality/value
This study which tries to bring a perspective to the main trends in TQM application to HE with respect to barriers, customers and accreditation over the last three decades is expected to add to the body of knowledge in this area and help future researchers to focus on the relevant areas identified in this paper.

Exploration of Influential Determinants for the Adoption of Business Intelligence System in the Textile and Apparel Industry. SUSTAINABILITY 2020. [DOI: 10.3390/su12187674] [Citation(s) in RCA: 5] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/17/2022]
Abstract
The textile and apparel industry is prone to digitization with business intelligence systems (BIS) and big data concepts to contribute the global sustainability. BIS, an impactful and leading technology, is being implemented in many industrial sectors but almost 80% of BIS fail to give expected results due to unknown reasons. Although many scholars put effort into finding the influential determinants for the BIS implementation, they neglect the BIS adoption context, especially in the textile and apparel industry. A purposive and proportionate choice of potential determinants in the context of adoption would contribute significantly to the success of BIS. Multi-stage research is employed to identify and prioritize the significant determinants. In the first stage, twenty-two semi-structured in-depth interviews are conducted with seventeen textile and apparel companies. Ten significant determinants emerged after thematic analysis of interview data. The determinants are sustainability, competitive pressure, market trends, compatibility, technology maturity, leadership commitment and support, satisfaction with existing systems, sustainable data quality and integrity, users’ traits, and interpersonal communications that influence the adoption of BIS. In the second stage, the Best Worst Method (BWM) is used to calculate the weights for prioritizing the determinants based on experts’ opinion. These weights are then used to evaluate and rank the determinants. The findings of this research show that the leadership commitment and support, sustainability, users’ traits, and technology maturity, are the top-ranked determinants that influence the practitioners’ choice to adopt the BIS in the textile and apparel industry. The results of this study enable the BIS stakeholders to holistically comprehend the significant determinants that would drive or impede the success of BIS projects in the sustainable textile and apparel industry.

Abstract
There are currently various concepts related to quality, which have been implemented by many hospitals and other healthcare institutions. The search for continuous improvement, the implementation of a quality culture and hospital accreditation have also been common, in these institutions. However, the history of hospital audits and accreditation is complex and full of dynamic concepts. The American College of Surgeons was pioneer in publishing, more than a century ago, the first document pertaining quality standards. After that, various programs and concepts have been developed and remodeled by distinct entities. In this article, we briefly review the history of quality in the world and Brazil. We also discuss related concepts regarding its assessment in healthcare.
