HMM-Based Fuzzy Control for Nonlinear Markov Jump Singularly Perturbed Systems With General Transition and Mode Detection Information

In this article, the hidden Markov model (HMM)-based fuzzy control problem is addressed for slow sampling model nonlinear Markov jump singularly perturbed systems (SPSs), in which the general transition and mode detection information issue is considered. The general information issue is formulated as the one with not only the transition probabilities (TPs) and the mode detection probabilities (MDPs) being partly known but also with the certain estimation errors existing in the known elements of them. This formulation covers the cases with both the TPs and the MDPs being fully known, or one of them being fully known but another being partly known, or both them being partly known but without the certain estimation errors, which were considered in some previous literature. By utilizing the HMM with general information, some strictly stochastic dissipativity analysis criteria are derived for the slow sampling model nonlinear Markov jump SPSs. In addition, a unified HMM-based fuzzy controller design methodology is established for slow sampling model nonlinear Markov jump SPSs such that a fuzzy controller can be designed depending on whether the fast dynamics of the systems are available or not. A numerical example and a tunnel diode circuit are finally used to illustrate the validity of the obtained results.

Finite-Time Fuzzy Bounded Control for Semilinear PDE Systems With Quantized Measurements and Markov Jump Actuator Failures

This article presents a novel reliable fuzzy output feedback controller for a class of semilinear parabolic partial differential equation systems with Markov jump actuator failures. First, the control strategy's novelties include the following aspects: 1) the considered system is represented by using a fuzzy modeling approach, based on which a new asynchronous fuzzy observer is constructed via utilizing a series of discrete output signals that are induced by samplers and quantizers; 2) a novel Markov jump input model, which is more fit for real applications, is introduced to depict various stochastically occurring actuator faults; and 3) inspired by the above discussion, a reliable mode-dependent fuzzy piecewise control strategy, which only needs limited actuators, is developed. Then, some new conditions, which can ensure that the closed-loop system is finite-time bounded, are established. Furthermore, some slave matrices are introduced to relax the strict constraints caused by asynchronous membership functions. Finally, two simulation examples are provided to support the validity of the proposed method.

Fuzzy Control Design of Nonlinear Time-Delay Parabolic PDE Systems Under Mobile Collocated Actuators and Sensors

Via mobile sensing measurements, this study applies the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model to deal with the mobile fuzzy control design problem for nonlinear time-delay parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) systems. Initially, we use a T-S fuzzy model to accurately represent the nonlinear time-delay parabolic PDE system. Subsequently, under the assumption that the actuators and sensors are collocated while the spatial domain is divided by several subdomains, a control scheme containing the fuzzy controllers and the guidance of mobile actuator/sensor pairs is proposed based on the obtained T-S fuzzy model, where the projection modification guidance to be designed can guarantee that each mobile actuator/sensor pair moves within the prescribed area. Then, using the Lyapunov direct method and integral inequalities, a membership-function-dependent design of fuzzy controllers plus mobile actuator/sensor guidance laws is developed to render the resulting closed-loop time-delay system exponentially stable. Moreover, the exponential decay rate can also be increased by the proposed mobile guidance laws. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method and the application of mobile actuator/sensor pairs contributes to accelerating the convergence speed of the closed-loop state.

Model-Free-Based Single-Dimension Fuzzy SMC Design for Underactuated Quadrotor UAV

The underactuated quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is one of the nonlinear systems that have few actuators as compared to the degree of freedom (DOF); thus, it is a strenuous task to stabilize its attitude and positions. Moreover, an induction of unmodelled dynamic factors and uncertainties make it more difficult to control its maneuverability. In this paper, a model-free based single-dimension fuzzy sliding mode control (MFSDF-SMC) is proposed to control the attitude and positions of underactuated quadrotor UAV. The paper discusses the kinematic and dynamic models with unmodelled dynamic factors and unknown external disturbances. These unmodelled factors and disturbances may lead the quadrotor towards failure in tracking specific trajectory and may also generate some serious transient and steady-state issues. Furthermore, to avoid the problem of gimbal lock, the model is amalgamated with hyperbolic function to resolve the singularity issues dully developed due to Newton Euler’s dynamic modeling. The simulation results performed for MFSDF-SMC using MATLAB software R2020a are compared with conventional sliding mode control, fuzzy-based sliding control and single-dimension fuzzy-based sliding mode control without a model-free approach. The design and implementation of the model-free single dimension-based fuzzy sliding mode control (MFSDF-SMC) with an updated Lyapunov stability theorem is presented in this work. It is observed that MFSDF-SMC produces robust trajectory performance therefore, and the manuscript suggests the experimental setup to test the proposed algorithm in a noisy environment keeping the same conditions. The verification of the equipment used and its effective demonstration is also available for the reader within the manuscript.

Sliding-Mode Control of T-S Fuzzy Systems Under Weighted Try-Once-Discard Protocol

This article investigates the sliding-mode control (SMC) problem for a class of T-S fuzzy systems with communication constraints. The weighted try-once-discard (WTOD) protocol is utilized to arrange the transmission order of actuator nodes, under which only one node is permitted to obtain access to the communication network at any time. A key issue is how to integrate the WTOD protocol into the design of the SMC system. To this end, an update rule is proposed for the actuators to obtain the actual actuator signals. And then, a membership-function-dependent (MFD) sliding surface and a token-dependent sliding-mode controller are designed. By taking the information of membership functions into stability and reachability analysis, MFD sufficient conditions are derived such that both the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop fuzzy systems and the reachability of the specified sliding surface can be guaranteed. Moreover, the cone complementary linearization (CCL) algorithm is employed to convert nonlinear inequalities into a minimization problem with linear constraints. Finally, a numerical example is utilized to illustrate the proposed SMC design approach.
