Fuzzy Adaptive Practical Fixed-Time Consensus for Second-Order Nonlinear Multiagent Systems Under Actuator Faults

Event-based adaptive fixed-time optimal control for saturated fault-tolerant nonlinear multiagent systems via reinforcement learning algorithm

This article investigates the problem of adaptive fixed-time optimal consensus tracking control for nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) affected by actuator faults and input saturation. To achieve optimal control, reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm which is implemented based on neural network (NN) is employed. Under the actor-critic structure, an innovative simple positive definite function is constructed to obtain the upper bound of the estimation error of the actor-critic NN updating law, which is crucial for analyzing fixed-time stabilization. Furthermore, auxiliary functions and estimation laws are designed to eliminate the coupling effects resulting from actuator faults and input saturation. Meanwhile, a novel event-triggered mechanism (ETM) that incorporates the consensus tracking errors into the threshold is proposed, thereby effectively conserving communication resources. Based on this, a fixed-time event-triggered control scheme grounded in RL is proposed through the integration of the backstepping technique and fixed-time theory. It is demonstrated that the consensus tracking errors converge to a specified range in a fixed time and all signals within the closed-loop systems are bounded. Finally, simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

Data-Based Output Synchronization of Multi-Agent Systems With Actuator Faults

In this brief, the output synchronization of multi-agent systems (MAS) with actuator faults is studied. To detect the faults, a backward input-driven fault detection mechanism (BIFDM) is presented for MAS. Different from previous works, the system operation can be monitored without system model by the proposed BIFDM. Then to tolerate the faults, a novel fault-tolerant controller (FTC) based on reinforcement learning (RL) and backward information (BI) is proposed. Particularly, by the combination of BI, the design of additional parameters for faults is avoided. Furthermore, the proposed FTC overcomes the shortcoming that the previous FTCs cannot be applied to heterogeneous MAS. Finally, two simulation examples are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Adaptive Neural Asymptotic Tracking of Uncertain Non-Strict Feedback Systems With Full-State Constraints via Command Filtered Technique

This brief addresses the adaptive neural asymptotic tracking issue for uncertain non-strict feedback systems subject to full-state constraints. By introducing the significant nonlinear transformed function (NTF), the command filtered technology, and the boundary estimation method into control design, a novel command filtered backstepping adaptive controller is proposed. The proposed control scheme is able to not only deal with full-state constraints but also avoid the "explosion of complexity" issue. By means of a Lyapunov stability analysis, we prove that: 1) the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero; 2) all the variables in the controlled systems are bounded; and 3) all the states are constrained in the asymmetric predefined sets. Finally, a numerical simulation is used to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm.

Observer-Based Fixed-Time Adaptive Fuzzy Consensus DSC for Nonlinear Multiagent Systems

This article studies the output-feedback fixed-time fuzzy consensus control problem for nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) under the directed communication topologies. Since the controlled systems contain the unmeasurable states and unknown dynamics, the unmeasurable states are reconstructed via linear state observers, and fuzzy logic systems are utilized to identify the unknown internal dynamics. By constructing the integral type Lyapunov function, a fixed-time adaptive fuzzy consensus control scheme is developed by introducing the nonlinear filter technique into the backstepping recursive technique adaptive control algorithm. The presented consensus control method can not only guarantee the controlled system is semi-global practical fixed-time stable (SGPFTS), but also avoid the singular problem in existing backstepping recursive control design methods. Finally, an application of unmanned surface vehicles is provided to verify the effectiveness of the presented fixed-time fuzzy consensus control method.

Fixed-time connectivity-preserving consensus of periodically disturbed nonlinear multi-agent systems with limited communication ranges

This paper concentrates on the fixed-time consensus control problem with preserved connectivity for periodically disturbed nonlinear multi-agent systems with limited communication ranges. The dynamics model of the considered multi-agent systems is general, in which the periodically time-varying disturbance appears in the unknown system function in a nonlinear fashion. The Fourier series expansion-radial basis function neural network-based approximator is incorporated to describe the unknown disturbed functions. In consideration of the limited communication ranges, a unified error transformation is utilized to preserve the initial connectivity. Then, via the backstepping method, a consensus control scheme is recursively constructed to guarantee that the consensus errors fall into a small region around the origin in fixed time, and the connectivity preservation is ensured simultaneously. In simulation part, the consensus trajectories, consensus errors and the results of connectivity preservation are provided. The simulation results demonstrate the capability of the proposed control strategy in achieving connectivity-preserving consensus in fixed time.

Predefined-Time Bounded Consensus of Multiagent Systems With Unknown Nonlinearity via Distributed Adaptive Fuzzy Control

This article investigates uniformly predefined-time bounded consensus of leader-following multiagent systems (MASs) with unknown system nonlinearity and external disturbance via distributed adaptive fuzzy control. First, uniformly predefined-time-bounded stability is analyzed and a sufficient condition is derived for the system to achieve semiglobally (globally) uniformly predefined-time-bounded consensus. Therein, the settling time is independent of initial conditions and can be defined in advance. Then, for first-order MASs, distributed adaptive fuzzy controllers are designed by combining neighboring consensus errors to drive all following agents to globally track the leader's state within predefined time. For second-order MASs, by formulating filtered errors, the consensus errors between following agents and the leader are shown to be bounded if the filtered errors are bounded. Furthermore, with the distributed controllers designed based on filtered errors, second-order MASs achieve semiglobally uniformly predefined-time-bounded leader-following consensus. Finally, two numerical examples are simulated, including: 1) a first-order leader-following MAS and 2) a second-order Lagrangian system consisting of single-link manipulators, to demonstrate the performance of the proposed controllers.

Cluster-Delay Mean Square Consensus of Stochastic Multi-Agent Systems with Impulse Time Windows

This paper investigates the cluster-delay mean square consensus problem of a class of first-order nonlinear stochastic multi-agent systems with impulse time windows. Specifically, on the one hand, we have applied a discrete control mechanism (i.e., impulsive control) into the system instead of a continuous one, which has the advantages of low control cost, high convergence speed; on the other hand, we considered the existence of impulse time windows when modeling the system, that is, a single impulse appears randomly within a time window rather than an ideal fixed position. In addition, this paper also considers the influence of stochastic disturbances caused by fluctuations in the external environment. Then, based on algebraic graph theory and Lyapunov stability theory, some sufficiency conditions that the system must meet to reach the consensus state are given. Finally, we designed a simulation example to verify the feasibility of the obtained results.

Extended Dissipativity Analysis for Markovian Jump Neural Networks via Double-Integral-Based Delay-Product-Type Lyapunov Functional

This brief studies the problem of extended dissipativity analysis for the Markovian jump neural networks (MJNNs) with time-varying delay. A double-integral-based delay-product-type (DIDPT) Lyapunov functional is first constructed in this brief, which makes full use of the information of time delay. Moreover, some unnecessary constraints on the system structure are removed, which leads to more general results. A numerical example is employed to illustrate the advantages of the proposed method.
