Abstract
In this paper, a set of novel adaptive control strategies based on an advanced G-L (proposed by Ge-Li-Tam, called GLT) fuzzy system is proposed. Three main design points can be summarized as follows: (1) the unknown parameters in a nonlinear dynamic system are regarded as extra nonlinear terms and are further packaged into so-called nonlinear terms groups for each equation through the modeling process, which reduces the complexity of the GLT fuzzy system; (2) the error dynamics are further rearranged into two parts, adjustable membership function and uncertain membership function, to aid the design of the controllers; (3) a set of adaptive controllers change with the estimated parameters and the update laws of parameters are provided following the current form of error dynamics. Two identical nonlinear dynamic systems based on a Quantum-CNN system (Q-CNN system) with two added terms are employed for simulations to demonstrate the feasibility as well as the effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy adaptive control scheme, where the tracking error can be eliminated efficiently.

Abstract
This paper investigates the sampled-data-based H∞ synchronization problem for a class of switched coupled neural networks subject to exogenous perturbations. Different from the existing results on the nonswitched and continuous-time control cases, the unmatched phenomena between the switching of the system models and that of the controllers will occur, when the resulting error system switches within a sampling interval. In the framework of time-dependent switching mechanism, sufficient conditions for the existence of the sampled-data controllers are derived under the variable sampling and asynchronous switching. We prove that the proposed method not only renders the synchronization error system exponentially stable but also constrains the influence of the exogenous perturbations on the synchronization performance at a specified level. Finally, a switched coupled cellular neural network and a switched coupled Hopfield neural network are provided to illustrate the applicability and validity of the developed results.

Abstract
By using an intermittent control approach, this paper is concerned with the exponential synchronization and L2 -gain analysis for a class of delayed master-slave chaotic neural networks subject to actuator saturation. Based on a switching strategy, the synchronization error system is modeled as a switched synchronization error system consisting of two subsystems, and each subsystem of the switched system satisfies a dwell time constraint due to the characteristics of intermittent control. A piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional depending on the control rate and control period is then introduced, under which sufficient conditions for the exponential stability of the constructed switched synchronization error system are developed. In addition, the influence of the exogenous perturbations on synchronization performance is constrained at a prescribed level. In the meantime, the intermittent linear state feedback controller can be derived by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities. More incisively, the proposed method is also proved to be valid in the case of aperiodically intermittent control. Finally, two simulation examples are employed to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of the obtained results.

Abstract
The issue of unified dissipativity-based Arcak-type state estimator design for delayed static neural networks (SNNs) with leakage term and noise distraction was considered here. An Arcak-type state observer, which is compact than the usually used Luenberger-type state estimator, is selected to implement the subject of a unified dissipativity performance of SNNs. This paper primarily concentrates on the issue of Arcak-type state estimator of delayed SNNs involving leakage delay. The first attempt is made to tackle the Arcak-type state estimator of SNNs with time delay in leakage term in this paper based on the unified criteria, by constructing a novel Lyapunov functional together with newly improved integral inequalities. As a result, a novel unified state estimation criterion is launched in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and put forward to justify the dynamics of error system is extended dissipative with the influence of leakage term and estimator gain matrices K¯1 and K¯2. Finally, an interesting simulation study is ultimately explored to show the performance of the established unified dissipativity-based theoretical results, in which, comparison results are also made together with recent works as a special case.

Abstract
This brief presents a new guaranteed performance state estimation criterion for delayed static neural networks. To facilitate the use of the slope information about activation function, the estimation error of activation function is separated into two parts for the first time. Then, a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is constructed, which has fully captured the slope information of the activation. Based on the new LKF, a less conservative design criterion of estimator is derived to ensure the asymptotic stability of estimation error system with performance. The desired estimator gain matrices and the performance index are obtained by solving a convex optimization problem. The simulation results show that the proposed method has much better performance than the most recent results.

Abstract
In this paper, the synchronization problem of master-slave chaotic neural networks with remote sensors, quantization process, and communication time delays is investigated. The information communication channel between the master chaotic neural network and slave chaotic neural network consists of several remote sensors, with each sensor able to access only partial knowledge of output information of the master neural network. At each sampling instants, each sensor updates its own measurement and only one sensor is scheduled to transmit its latest information to the controller's side in order to update the control inputs for the slave neural network. Thus, such communication process and control strategy are much more energy-saving comparing with the traditional point-to-point scheme. Sufficient conditions for output feedback control gain matrix, allowable length of sampling intervals, and upper bound of network-induced delays are derived to ensure the quantized synchronization of master-slave chaotic neural networks. Abstract
This paper investigates the problem of stabilization of sampled-data neural-network-based systems with state quantization. Different with previous works, the communication limitation of state quantization is considered for the first time. More specifically, it is assumed that the sampled state measurements from sensor to the controller are quantized via a quantizer. To reduce conservativeness, a novel piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is constructed by introducing a line-integral type Lyapunov function and some useful terms that take full advantage of the available information about the actual sampling pattern. Based on the new LKF, much less conservative stabilization conditions are derived to obtain the maximal sampling period and the minimal guaranteed cost control performance. The desired quantized sampled-data three-layer fully connected feedforward neural-network-based controllers are designed by a linear matrix inequality approach. A search algorithm is given to find the optimal values of tuning parameters. The effectiveness and advantage of proposed method are demonstrated by the numerical simulation of an inverted pendulum.

Abstract
Ge and Li proposed an alternative strategy to model and synchronize two totally different nonlinear systems in the end of 2011, which provided a new version for fuzzy modeling and has been applied to several fields to simplify their modeling works and solve the mismatch problems [1]-[17]. However, the proposed model limits the number of nonlinear terms in each equation so that this model could not be used in all kinds of nonlinear dynamic systems. As a result, in this paper, a more efficient and comprehensive advanced-Ge-Li fuzzy model is given to further release the limitation and improve the effectiveness of the original one. The novel fuzzy model can be applied to all kinds of complex nonlinear systems--this is the universal strategy and only m x 2 fuzzy rules as well as two linear subsystems are needed to simulate nonlinear behaviors (m is the number of states in a nonlinear dynamic system), whatever the nonlinear terms are copious or complicated. Further, the fuzzy synchronization of two nonlinear dynamic systems with totally distinct structures can be achieved via only two sets of control gains designed through the novel fuzzy model as well as its corresponding fuzzy synchronization scheme. Two complicated dynamic systems are designed to be the illustrations, Mathieu-Van der pol system with uncertainties and Quantum-cellular neural networks nano system with uncertainties, to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the novel fuzzy model.

Abstract
This paper is concerned with a new data-driven zero-sum neuro-optimal control problem for continuous-time unknown nonlinear systems with disturbance. According to the input-output data of the nonlinear system, an effective recurrent neural network is introduced to reconstruct the dynamics of the nonlinear system. Considering the system disturbance as a control input, a two-player zero-sum optimal control problem is established. Adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) is developed to obtain the optimal control under the worst case of the disturbance. Three single-layer neural networks, including one critic and two action networks, are employed to approximate the performance index function, the optimal control law, and the disturbance, respectively, for facilitating the implementation of the ADP method. Convergence properties of the ADP method are developed to show that the system state will converge to a finite neighborhood of the equilibrium. The weight matrices of the critic and the two action networks are also convergent to finite neighborhoods of their optimal ones. Finally, the simulation results will show the effectiveness of the developed data-driven ADP methods.

Abstract
This paper investigates the H∞ state estimation problem for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems of the neural network type with random time-varying delays and multiple missing measurements. These nonlinear systems include recurrent neural networks, complex network systems, Lur'e systems, and so on which can be described by a unified model consisting of a linear dynamic system and a static nonlinear operator. The missing phenomenon commonly existing in measurements is assumed to occur randomly by introducing mutually individual random variables satisfying certain kind of probability distribution. Throughout this paper, first a Luenberger-like estimator based on the imperfect output data is constructed to obtain the immeasurable system states. Then, by virtue of Lyapunov stability theory and stochastic method, the H∞ performance of the estimation error dynamical system (augmented system) is analyzed. Based on the analysis, the H∞ estimator gains are deduced such that the augmented system is globally mean square stable. In this paper, both the variation range and distribution probability of the time delay are incorporated into the control laws, which allows us to not only have more accurate models of the real physical systems, but also obtain less conservative results. Finally, three illustrative examples are provided to validate the proposed control laws.

Abstract
This brief considers the guaranteed H∞ performance state estimation problem of delayed static neural networks. An Arcak-type state estimator, which is more general than the widely adopted Luenberger-type one, is chosen to tackle this issue. A delay-dependent criterion is derived under which the estimation error system is globally asymptotically stable with a prescribed H∞ performance. It is shown that the design of suitable gain matrices and the optimal performance index are accomplished by solving a convex optimization problem subject to two linear matrix inequalities. Compared with some previous results, much better performance is achieved by our approach, which is greatly benefited from introducing an additional gain matrix in the domain of activation function. An example is finally given to demonstrate the advantage of the developed result.

Abstract
This brief proposes an output tracking control for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems with disturbances. A standard neural network model is used to represent discrete-time nonlinear systems whose nonlinearity satisfies the sector conditions. H∞ control performance for the closed-loop system including the standard neural network model, the reference model, and state feedback controller is analyzed using Lyapunov-Krasovskii stability theorem and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. The H∞ controller, of which the parameters are obtained by solving LMIs, guarantees that the output of the closed-loop system closely tracks the output of a given reference model well, and reduces the influence of disturbances on the tracking error. Three numerical examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed H∞ output tracking design approach.
