Synchronization of chaotic Lur'e systems with time delays using sampled-data control

Local Synchronization of Directed Lur'e Networks With Coupling Delay via Distributed Impulsive Control Subject to Actuator Saturation

This article studies the local exponential synchronization synthesis problem of directed Lur'e networks with coupling time-varying delay under the distributed impulsive control subject to actuator saturation. First, by utilizing proof by contradiction, impulsive comparison principle, and latest improved convex hull representation of saturation function, some delay-independent sufficient criteria for local exponential synchronization are presented in the form of bilinear matrix inequalities. Meanwhile, a novel method with less conservatism is developed to estimate the domain of attraction, which is radically different from the traditional method by means of contractive invariant set. Second, optimization problems constrained by the transformed linear matrix inequalities are established to acquire the maximum estimates of both the domain of attraction and average impulsive interval (AII), which are conveniently solved by the YALMIP toolbox in MATLAB software. Finally, a numerical simulation is rendered to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed theoretical results.

Sampled-Data-Based H∞ Synchronization of Switched Coupled Neural Networks

This paper investigates the sampled-data-based H_∞ synchronization problem for a class of switched coupled neural networks subject to exogenous perturbations. Different from the existing results on the nonswitched and continuous-time control cases, the unmatched phenomena between the switching of the system models and that of the controllers will occur, when the resulting error system switches within a sampling interval. In the framework of time-dependent switching mechanism, sufficient conditions for the existence of the sampled-data controllers are derived under the variable sampling and asynchronous switching. We prove that the proposed method not only renders the synchronization error system exponentially stable but also constrains the influence of the exogenous perturbations on the synchronization performance at a specified level. Finally, a switched coupled cellular neural network and a switched coupled Hopfield neural network are provided to illustrate the applicability and validity of the developed results.

Quasi-Synchronization of Discrete-Time Lur'e-Type Switched Systems With Parameter Mismatches and Relaxed PDT Constraints

This paper investigates the problem of quasi-synchronization for a class of discrete-time Lur'e-type switched systems with parameter mismatches and transmission channel noises. Different from the previous studies referring to the persistent dwell-time (PDT) switching signals, the average dwell-time (ADT) constraints combined with the PDT are considered simultaneously in this paper to relax the limitation of dwell-time requirements and to improve the flexibility of the PDT switching signal design. By virtue of the semi-time-varying (STV) Lyapunov function, the synchronization criteria for transmitter-receiver systems in a switched version are obtained to satisfy a prescribed synchronization error bound. An estimate of the synchronization error bound is provided via the reachable set approach and, further, an explicit description of the error bounds is given. Then, sufficient conditions on the existence of STV observers are derived with a predetermined error bound, and the corresponding observer gains are calculated via solving a group of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, the effectiveness and validness of the developed theoretical results are demonstrated via a numerical example.

Dynamical and Static Multisynchronization of Coupled Multistable Neural Networks via Impulsive Control

This paper investigates the dynamical multisynchronization and static multisynchronization problem for delayed coupled multistable neural networks with fixed and switching topologies. To begin with, a class of activation functions as well as several sufficient conditions are introduced to ensure that every subnetwork has multiple equilibrium states. By constructing an appropriate Lyapunov function and by employing impulsive control theory and the average impulsive interval method, several sufficient conditions for multisynchronization in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are obtained. Moreover, a unified impulsive controller is designed by means of the established LMIs. Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented impulsive control strategy.

Improved Stability and Stabilization Results for Stochastic Synchronization of Continuous-Time Semi-Markovian Jump Neural Networks With Time-Varying Delay

Continuous-time semi-Markovian jump neural networks (semi-MJNNs) are those MJNNs whose transition rates are not constant but depend on the random sojourn time. Addressing stochastic synchronization of semi-MJNNs with time-varying delay, an improved stochastic stability criterion is derived in this paper to guarantee stochastic synchronization of the response systems with the drive systems. This is achieved through constructing a semi-Markovian Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional together as well as making use of a novel integral inequality and the characteristics of cumulative distribution functions. Then, with a linearization procedure, controller synthesis is carried out for stochastic synchronization of the drive-response systems. The desired state-feedback controller gains can be determined by solving a linear matrix inequality-based optimization problem. Simulation studies are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness and less conservatism of the presented approach.

On Stabilization of Quantized Sampled-Data Neural-Network-Based Control Systems

This paper investigates the problem of stabilization of sampled-data neural-network-based systems with state quantization. Different with previous works, the communication limitation of state quantization is considered for the first time. More specifically, it is assumed that the sampled state measurements from sensor to the controller are quantized via a quantizer. To reduce conservativeness, a novel piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is constructed by introducing a line-integral type Lyapunov function and some useful terms that take full advantage of the available information about the actual sampling pattern. Based on the new LKF, much less conservative stabilization conditions are derived to obtain the maximal sampling period and the minimal guaranteed cost control performance. The desired quantized sampled-data three-layer fully connected feedforward neural-network-based controllers are designed by a linear matrix inequality approach. A search algorithm is given to find the optimal values of tuning parameters. The effectiveness and advantage of proposed method are demonstrated by the numerical simulation of an inverted pendulum.

Non-fragile sampled-data robust synchronization of uncertain delayed chaotic Lurie systems with randomly occurring controller gain fluctuation

This paper proposes a new non-fragile stochastic control method to investigate the robust sampled-data synchronization problem for uncertain chaotic Lurie systems (CLSs) with time-varying delays. The controller gain fluctuation and time-varying uncertain parameters are supposed to be random and satisfy certain Bernoulli distributed white noise sequences. Moreover, by choosing an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF), which takes full advantage of the available information about the actual sampling pattern and the nonlinear condition, a novel synchronization criterion is developed for analyzing the corresponding synchronization error system. Furthermore, based on the most powerful free-matrix-based integral inequality (FMBII), the desired non-fragile sampled-data estimator controller is obtained in terms of the solution of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, three numerical simulation examples of Chua's circuit and neural network are provided to show the effectiveness and superiorities of the proposed theoretical results.
