Agglomerative Neural Networks for Multiview Clustering

Conventional multiview clustering methods seek a view consensus through minimizing the pairwise discrepancy between the consensus and subviews. However, pairwise comparison cannot portray the interview relationship precisely if some of the subviews can be further agglomerated. To address the above challenge, we propose the agglomerative analysis to approximate the optimal consensus view, thereby describing the subview relationship within a view structure. We present an agglomerative neural network (ANN) based on constrained Laplacian rank to cluster multiview data directly without a dedicated postprocessing step (e.g., using K -means). We further extend ANN with a learnable data space to handle data of complex scenarios. Our evaluations against several state-of-the-art multiview clustering approaches on four popular data sets show the promising view-consensus analysis ability of ANN. We further demonstrate ANN's capability in analyzing complex view structures, extensibility through our case study and robustness and effectiveness of data-driven modifications.

Multidimensional Balance-Based Cluster Boundary Detection for High-Dimensional Data

The balance of neighborhood space around a central point is an important concept in cluster analysis. It can be used to effectively detect cluster boundary objects. The existing neighborhood analysis methods focus on the distribution of data, i.e., analyzing the characteristic of the neighborhood space from a single perspective, and could not obtain rich data characteristics. In this paper, we analyze the high-dimensional neighborhood space from multiple perspectives. By simulating each dimension of a data point's k nearest neighbors space ( k NNs) as a lever, we apply the lever principle to compute the balance fulcrum of each dimension after proving its inevitability and uniqueness. Then, we model the distance between the projected coordinate of the data point and the balance fulcrum on each dimension and construct the DHBlan coefficient to measure the balance of the neighborhood space. Based on this theoretical model, we propose a simple yet effective cluster boundary detection algorithm called Lever. Experiments on both low- and high-dimensional data sets validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed algorithm.

A Blind Stereoscopic Image Quality Evaluator with Segmented Stacked Autoencoders Considering The Whole Visual Perception Route

Most of the current blind stereoscopic image quality assessment (SIQA) algorithms cannot show reliable accuracy. One reason is that they do not have the deep architectures and the other reason is that they are designed on the relatively weak biological basis, compared with findings on human visual system (HVS). In this paper, we propose a Deep Edge and COlor Signal INtegrity Evaluator (DECOSINE) based on the whole visual perception route from eyes to the frontal lobe, and especially focus on edge and color signal processing in retinal ganglion cells (RGC) and lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN). Furthermore, to model the complex and deep structure of the visual cortex, Segmented Stacked Auto-encoder (S-SAE) is used, which has not utilized for SIQA before. The utilization of the S-SAE complements weakness of deep learning-based SIQA metrics that require a very long training time. Experiments are conducted on popular SIQA databases, and the superiority of DECOSINE in terms of prediction accuracy and monotonicity is proved. The experimental results show that our model about the whole visual perception route and utilization of S-SAE are effective for SIQA.
