Fast Co-clustering via Anchor-guided Label Spreading

The attention towards clustering using anchor graph has grown due to its effectiveness and efficiency. As the most representative points in original data, anchors are also regarded as connecting the sample space to the label space. However, when there is noise in original data, the anchor-guided label spreading may fail. To alleviate this, we propose a Fast Co-clustering method via Anchor-guided Label Spreading (FCALS), in which the label of samples and anchors could be obtained simultaneously. Our method could not only maximize the intra-cluster similarity among anchors but also ensure that the relationship between anchors and original data is preserved. Besides, to avoid trivial solutions, the size constraint is introduced in our model, in which it is required that the samples within each cluster must not fall below a certain value. Furthermore, the lower limit exhibits insensitivity with a relatively broad range of possible values. Considering that the label matrix of original data could be fuzzy or discrete, the continuous and discrete models are proposed, which are named FCALS-C and FCALS-D respectively. Since labels of anchors can be directly obtained, the proposed methods are naturally applicable to out-of-sample problems. The superiority of the proposed methods is demonstrated through experimental results on both synthetic and real-world datasets.

Contrastive Multiview Attribute Graph Clustering With Adaptive Encoders

Multiview attribute graph clustering aims to cluster nodes into disjoint categories by taking advantage of the multiview topological structures and the node attribute values. However, the existing works fail to explicitly discover the inherent relationships in multiview topological graph matrices while considering different properties between the graphs. Besides, they cannot well handle the sparse structure of some graphs in the learning procedure of graph embeddings. Therefore, in this article, we propose a novel contrastive multiview attribute graph clustering (CMAGC) with adaptive encoders method. Within this framework, the adaptive encoders concerning different properties of distinct topological graphs are chosen to integrate multiview attribute graph information by checking whether there exists high-order neighbor information or not. Meanwhile, the number of layers of the GCN encoders is selected according to the prior knowledge related to the characteristics of different topological graphs. In particular, the feature-level and cluster-level contrastive learning are conducted on the multiview soft assignment representations, where the union of the first-order neighbors from the corresponding graph pairs is regarded as the positive pairs for data augmentation and the sparse neighbor information problem in some graphs can be well dealt with. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time to explicitly deal with the inherent relationships from the interview and intraview perspectives. Extensive experiments are conducted on several datasets to verify the superiority of the proposed CMAGC method compared with the state-of-the-art methods.

Online Sparse Representation Clustering for Evolving Data Streams

Data stream clustering can be performed to discover the patterns underlying continuously arriving sequences of data. A number of data stream clustering algorithms for finding clusters in arbitrary shapes and handling outliers, such as density-based clustering algorithms, have been proposed. However, these algorithms are often limited in their ability to construct and merge microclusters by measuring the Euclidean distances between high-dimensional data objects, e.g., transferring valuable knowledge from historical landmark windows to the current landmark window, and exploiting evolving subspace structures adaptively. We propose an online sparse representation clustering (OSRC) method to learn an affinity matrix for evaluating the relationships among high-dimensional data objects in evolving data streams. We first introduce a low-dimensional projection (LDP) into sparse representation to adaptively reduce the potential negative influence associated with the noise and redundancy contained in high-dimensional data. Then, we take advantage of the -norm optimization technique to choose the appropriate number of representative data objects and form a specific dictionary for sparse representation. The specific dictionary is integrated into sparse representation to adaptively exploit the evolving subspace structures of the high-dimensional data objects. Moreover, the data object representatives from the current landmark window can transfer valuable knowledge to the next landmark window. The experimental results based on a synthetic dataset and six benchmark datasets validate the effectiveness of the proposed method compared to that of state-of-the-art methods for data stream clustering.

Self-Supervised Self-Organizing Clustering Network: A Novel Unsupervised Representation Learning Method

Deep learning-based clustering methods usually regard feature extraction and feature clustering as two independent steps. In this way, the features of all images need to be extracted before feature clustering, which consumes a lot of calculation. Inspired by the self-organizing map network, a self-supervised self-organizing clustering network ( [Formula: see text]OCNet) is proposed to jointly learn feature extraction and feature clustering, thus realizing a single-stage clustering method. In order to achieve joint learning, we propose a self-organizing clustering header (SOCH), which takes the weight of the self-organizing layer as the cluster centers, and the output of the self-organizing layer as the similarities between the feature and the cluster centers. In order to optimize our network, we first convert the similarities into probabilities which represents a soft cluster assignment, and then we obtain a target for self-supervised learning by transforming the soft cluster assignment into a hard cluster assignment, and finally we jointly optimize backbone and SOCH. By setting different feature dimensions, a Multilayer SOCHs strategy is further proposed by cascading SOCHs. This strategy achieves clustering features in multiple clustering spaces. [Formula: see text]OCNet is evaluated on widely used image classification benchmarks such as Canadian Institute For Advanced Research (CIFAR)-10, CIFAR-100, Self-Taught Learning (STL)-10, and Tiny ImageNet. Experimental results show that our method significant improvement over other related methods. The visualization of features and images shows that our method can achieve good clustering results.
