Abstract
Hematological traits are important indexes to evaluate health status and immunological conditions in human and livestock. In this study, we measured the hematologic indexes of 819 male Hu lambs and performed the descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed the coefficients of variation of partial indexes were >10%, and the heritability for mean erythrocyte volume (MCV), white blood cell count (WBC), hemoglobin concentration (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), and red blood cell (RBC) distribution-standard deviation (RDW_SD) were medium to high, ranging from 0.17 to 0.43. In addition, Interleukin 18 (IL18), as an important regulator of both innate and acquired immune responses, was selected as candidate gene and subjected to the expression profile analysis, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) scanning and association analysis by using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), PCR amplification, Sanger sequencing, and KASP genotyping. The results of qRT-PCR indicated that IL18 is predominantly expressed in lymph and lung compared with that in the other tested tissues. In addition, three novel polymorphisms (g. 24991544 A > G, g. 24991651 A > G, and g. 24991749 C > T) were identified in IL18, and the three SNPs were in a strong linkage state. Therefore, only a SNP was genotyped and performed association analysis in the enlarged experimental population, the result of association analysis demonstrated that the polymorphism g. 24991651 A > G was significantly associated with RBC, MCV, MCHC, and RDW_CV. These results will provide the reference values and the novel genetic markers of hematological parameters in sheep.

Abstract
Gobiocypris rarus is sensitive to environmental pollution, especially to heavy metal and grass carp reovirus (GCRV). Hence, it has potential utility as a biological monitor. Genetic deciphering of its unique immune system will advance our understanding of its unique adaptive strategies, which provide cues for its better application. A de novo genome of rare minnow was obtained, and its sex determination mechanism is ZZ/ZW. We identified several specific mutation genes and specific lost genes of rare minnow, and these might be related to the sensitivity of rare minnow to environmental stimuli. We also analyzed the gene expression level of different organs/tissues and found that several IFIT genes may play key roles in GCRV resistance. In addition, knockout of the gene PCDH10L indicates that PCDH10L affects Pb2+-induced mortality in rare minnow. Rare minnow is ready for genetic manipulation and shows potential as an emerging experimental model.

Abstract
We report haplotype-based GWASs for 33 blood parameters measured in 843 Italian Large White pigs. In the single-trait analysis, a total of 30 QTL for number of basophils, six erythrocyte traits (haemoglobin, haematocrit, mean corpuscular haemoglobin, mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration, mean corpuscular volume and red blood cell count) and two clinical-biochemical traits (alkaline phosphatase and Ca2+ contents) were identified. In the multiple-trait analysis, a total of five QTL affected three different clusters of traits. Only four of these QTL were already reported in the single-marker and multi-marker GWASs we previously carried out on the same pig population. QTL on SSC11 and SSC17 showed effects on multiple traits. These results further dissected the genetic architecture of parameters that could be used as proxies in breeding programmes for more complex traits. In addition, these results might help to better define the pig as an animal model for several blood-related biological functions.
