Abstract
There is a general perception that the incidence of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) has been increasing. Nevertheless, reports of actual population-based studies are scarce, and pertinent data from some geographical regions still need to be available. In this systematic literature review of population-based studies, we aimed to evaluate the available data to provide updated figures on the incidence of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NENs). Guided by the PRISMA 2020 statement reporting items for systematic reviews, this study conducted a systematic search using Ovid in the bibliographic databases Embase, Medline, and Web of Science Core Collection. Only incidence-reporting studies were included. In total, 847 articles were identified, and through a strict evaluation process using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, we found 19 papers that reported the general incidence of GEP-NENs from all sites. In addition, we considered another 15 papers that focused on the epidemiologic aspects of single-organ studies. While the incidence rates of GEP-NEN vary across similar countries, the general incidence of GEP-NEN has been increasing worldwide in recent decades. The incidence of GEP-NENs has increased worldwide over the last two decades, and reliable figures from new regions add to this pattern. Nevertheless, variations in the classification, grading, and reporting of GEP-NENs in various studies make direct comparisons difficult.

Abstract
PURPOSE Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) represent heterogeneous tumors arising from neuroendocrine cells in different organs. Despite growing interest in the nutritional aspects of NEN management, research in this area is limited. Aim of this review is to summarize the current state of knowledge, highlight research gaps, and underscore the significance of nutrition in the comprehensive care of NEN patients. METHODS We conducted an extensive bibliographic search focusing on studies (including retrospective and prospective studies, systematic reviews, case series, and guidelines) exploring the relationship between nutritional assessments, dietary interventions, micronutrient deficiencies, and their impact on NEN outcomes. RESULTS Significant gaps exist in current research, particularly in understanding the specific nutritional needs of NEN patients and how tailored nutritional interventions can improve clinical outcomes. Evidence suggests that a high-fat Western diet may promote the growth of NEN, while a Mediterranean diet may help lower insulin levels and strengthen the immune system, potentially preventing tumor development. The ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting may also have positive impacts. Addressing common micronutrient deficiencies, such as vitamin D and niacin, is crucial to mitigate disease progression. There's a crucial need for future studies to include a comprehensive nutritional assessment incorporating patient-reported outcomes, to fully capture the impact of nutritional strategies. CONCLUSION Nutritional management, an important but under-researched facet of NEN treatment, significantly improves patients' quality of life and survival. Integrating nutrition into personalized cancer care is essential, highlighting the role of nutritional strategies in optimizing patient outcomes.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are a diverse group of tumors with origins from different primary sites such as gastro-entero-pancreatic, lung and endocrine tissue. Worldwide, their incidence has increased in recent decades. Advances in imaging and better clinical awareness are traditionally attributed to this trend; however, other factors such as genetic and environmental contributors are appreciated as well. AREAS COVERED The purpose of this article is to review the worldwide epidemiologic trends in incidence of NET through the decades and discuss the various factors potentially contributing to the observed changes in incidence trends. EXPERT OPINION Overall, the incidence of NET has increased across the globe over the last few decades. Although multiple genetics and environmental factors have been proposed, the majority of this increase in incidence is secondary to earlier detection. Future studies will help in more accurate assessments and an improved understanding of disease incidence among patients with different grades and differentiation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are rare tumors characterized by variable biology and delayed diagnosis. However, the nationwide epidemiology of NENs has never been reported in China. We aimed to estimate the incidence and survival statistics of NENs in China, in comparison to those in the United States during the same period. METHODS Based on the data from 246 population-based cancer registries covering 272.5 million people of China, we calculated age-specific incidence on NENs in 2017 and multiplied by corresponding national population to estimate the nationwide incidence in China. The data of 22 population-based cancer registries were used to estimate the trends of NENs incidence from 2000 to 2017 through the Joinpoint regression model. We used the cohort approach to analyze the 5-year age-standardized relative survival by sex, age group, and urban-rural area between 2008 and 2013, based on data from 176 high-quality cancer registries. We used data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) 18 program to estimate the comparable incidence and survival of NENs in the United States. RESULTS The overall age-standardized rate (ASR) of NENs incidence was lower in China (1.14 per 100,000) than in the United States (6.26 per 100,000). The most common primary sites were lungs, pancreas, stomach, and rectum in China. The ASRs of NENs incidence increased by 9.8% and 3.6% per year in China and the United States, respectively. The overall 5-year relative survival in China (36.2%) was lower than in the United States (63.9%). The 5-year relative survival was higher for female patients than male patients, and was higher in urban areas than in rural areas. CONCLUSIONS The disparities in burden of NENs persist across sex, area, age group, and site in China and the United States. These findings may provide a scientific basis on prevention and control of NENs in the two countries.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Gastroenteropancreatic NEN (GEP-NEN) are group of malignancies with significant clinical, anatomical and molecular heterogeneity. High-grade GEP-NEN in particular present unique management challenges. RECENT FINDINGS In the current era, multidisciplinary management with access to a combination of functional imaging and targeted molecular profiling can provide important disease characterisation, guide individualised management and improve patient outcome. Multiple treatment options are now available, and combination and novel therapies are being explored in clinical trials. Precision medicine is highly relevant for a heterogenous disease like NEN. The integration of dual-tracer functional PET/CT imaging, molecular histopathology and genomic data has the potential to be used to gain a more comprehensive understanding of an individual patient's disease biology for precision diagnosis, prognostication and optimal treatment allocation.
